weight gain frustration! why can't i just reach my goal!?!

Quote  |  Reply

Why is it that as soon as you start being super conscious of your eating habits and physical activity does losing the weight become that much more difficult!

I mean as soon as I say i'm going to start watching what I eat and working out more...I start to think about all of the things I want to eat and how much I don't want to work out! i know that i need to stop thinking about it in this way but its just so hard!

I really think I've gained a bunch of weight since I started trying to cut back! if anyone has any tips on how they battle the first few weeks of getting into a healthier routine please let me know! I'm gradually trying to do so but its so hard when your not seeing results and to be truthful I'd rather not have to be forced to wait months before I reach my goal or even begin to move towards my goal!

I hate to disappoint you, but you won't see results right away (at least not impressive ones). It will take time. There is now safe way around it. The good news is that you are starting now. You will get there if you believe it. Just be patient.

It will take some time to learn what your body needs food wise to stay satisfied.

Try not to do the all or nothing approach either. Just little changes adding up is the best way to adjust your lifestyle. Sometimes trying to do it all and be the super weight loss hero of the day can be overwhelming and result in more frustration (I won't lie - with weight loss attempts comes frustration!). It could even result in you giving up altogether (the nothing approach)

Tips:

  1. Water water water.
  2. Fibre & Protein in meals and snacks to help keep you satisfied.
  3. Meal & Shopping plans. Plans (and sticking to them) make you more likely to feel on track and satisfied with your results that day.
  4. Stick with it. Good days and bad days but eventually you'll figure out the magic formula for you and feel fantastic with your weight loss results.

Keep in mind you were probably still gaining weight with your previous lifestyle (otherwise you wouldn't need to lose weight) - you just weren't monitoring it as much!

just remember how you felt when you were eating all those unhealthy foods all the time and NOT working out. How did that make your body feel? Were you happy going to bed feeling full and unhappy with the way you ate that day? How did it feel to wake up stiff and inactive because you hadn't worked out in days or even weeks? If you try super hard to remember all these feelings, you will realize that a little bit of frustration, though it may seem like the strongest feeling in the world, is only a moment and it will pass. And it is so much more worth it to stick to your goals and work towards them than to fall back into your old routine where you felt unhappy and lethargic anyway. It's all about toss ups, and whether or not you are willing to actually make that switch to a better, happier lifestyle.

Ps: after the first three tough days, you are golden ;) then you're body won't even WANT to go back to your old habits. just be strong, and remember we are all in this together :)

You haven't created a profile, and you're not journaling. Doesn't look like since May you have reached out to anyone to buddy them. So the question is: are you actually logging your food and activity? Have you taken the "what kind of eater" test? Do you know how many calories you need?

Yes, it's slow. There are ups and downs. This is not a temporary fast "diet." This is a new way of living. If you are serious about getting healthy and fit, "how long" is not really the question. The question is how much of yourself are you willing to commit to the journey?

Use the tools. Find your community. Stick to it. It gets better.
