So I am finishing week three of stage one. I have increased my calories a bit from 1400 to about 1600. I have gained 4 pounds?!?!?
I am not sure what to think about these four pounds. Too may calories, water weight, what is it. My husband says I was obsessing when I asked him. He works-out a lot and is very knowledgeable. But for some reason he thinks i am just complaining about my weight, when all I am doing is trying to understand where the weight is coming from.
I tried to explain the new workout and increase in calories, and that i wanted his opinion, he said "Get Off the Scale". I told him I just wanted to better understand.
I don't think that it is 4 pound of muscle, because it has only been three weeks, any ideas?
I would guess it has something to do with your muscles retaining water to help them heal.
Make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Keep at it!
It's definitely a little scary at first, and I remember just feeling better when I knew others had experienced that too. It did take awhile for me to get rid of the water weight, maybe through stage 2?, but I lost it all plus an extra couple eventually.
I am in the middle of stage 2. I don't seem to be gaining but I'm certainly not losing. I am hoping some pounds start coming off in stage 3. Hoping your right kilk!
Measure yourself. It has been the most inspiring to me. The inches are coming off. I am really looking forward to measuring again in a couple of weeks.
Igloo - you don't look by your picture to have alot of weight to lose, if any. The only real way to lose weight is to modify your diet to consume less calories than you are expending.
The workouts should help as far as far as your body fat % so that is why you are losing inches.... Which is better than seeing it on the scale!
I think most of us have trouble with the diet part the most!
Yeah Yoga, I definitely have a hard time with the eat factor. LOL
Especially after starting New Rules, I cannot eat at much of a deficit on the days I do that. Also, I have been training for a Marathon on the 25th of this month, so that makes it a hard time to lose weight.
I am still above 150. I am 5'6 and a half! I figured when CC suggested a goal weight of 143, that sounded good, but I was thinking more like 135. Am I crazy? LOL
Up another half pound this morning.
And I thought I was doing so good.
Stage 2 over next week. We shall see what happens in Stage 3.
I am 5'6" and my goal is 155 -- just on the high side of my healthy bmi - I am also an old lady ( soon to be 50) so my metabolism isn't that wonderful being post menopausal. Before I quit smoking I had gotten down to 145 and looked and felt great - but realize I had a lot of loose skin and flab here and there. Since gaining weight due to many things I am happy to report that although I've gained a lot of weight back - I haven't gained that much in pant sizes so I know some of my extra weight is really muscle this time.
The last time I weighed 135 I hadn't yet gotten pregnant with my first child ( who will be 23 in Oct)
I'm now sort of shooting for a pant size of 8 again vs a number on the scale.
You may actually be needing more food and that is why you are gaining - your body is holding onto every oz of food your giving it. Training for a marathon and doing the NR sounds like you need lots and lots of healthy food.
dbacker- you are not an old lady! I am going to turn 40 soon. I want to feel and look great for the rest of my life! I am looking forward to alot of things about getting older the right way.
I'm not losing either but I know my deficit is small. I think those of you who are able to have a deficit, do new rules and other serious cardio are amazing!
Here's to inches lost and muscle gained!
