weight gain?! (for ladies)

Quote  |  Reply
Hey ladies,

I'm kinda freaking out because I've gained about 5 pounds this week.  I'm also having my period this week.  Is this common? If it is, when should expect to see the weight come off?  I just hope that this isn't really weight gain -- but just water retention.

totally common. dont freak out, it'll go away on its own :)
Very common. It is just water retention. Just keep doing your best and you'll be fine soon.
totally normal. if u look at my weight loss ticker. i make notes and i notice the week before and the week during my period i gain. that is the water weight u put on and who knows what else.....hope this helps!
Thanks so much ladies.

I guess I got frustrated because it's the first time I was able to get down in the 130's (136 to be exact) and today, it shot up to 141 -- how depressing...but I guess I'll just have to continue on and hopefully the extra pounds will magically disappear at the end of my period.

Also, I was wondering about exercising during your period?  I have a backache (due to period) that prevents me from doing some of the stuff I usually do/or for longer duration.  Do you guys exercise while on your period or do you just skip that week and try to eat healthy?
I would bloat horribly around my period, gaining 3-5 pounds each time.  (It would go away, thank God.)  Instead of taking Midol or Pamprin, I use Motrin and the caffeine free Diurex.  In fact, I swear by that combination.

I've always been told that exercize during your period help alleviate cramps... I've got some ovarian cyst issues, so it only makes my cramps worse.  I usually try to suck it up and stay as active as possible!

I normally do stretching exercises because stretching is soothing and helps muscles relax, but anything more really hurts...like dancing for three hours. Smile
