Weight "gain"...need some advice/reassurance
So people on here know I have many issues when it comes to food/diet....luckily my "rational" behavior has been prevailing over what seems to be some wacky recent weigh-ins....
anyway, I weigh myself every Saturday morning, same scale, place, conditions, etc.....over the past few weeks I have been weighing in around 143-144...which was already a "real" gain recently....I was fine with the gain though....
so throughout the week I ate the EXACT way I ate during the previous weeks ....in some regards this week may have been a little "lighter" if anything...yet when I got on the scale this morning it read 148-149 lbs!....now I know that it takes A LOT to gain that much weight...and I know between my jogging 4+ miles every day and again eating the same way I usually do that this "real" gain would be impossible....but I am having a hard time dismissing it. I know most will say it is water weight...the only thing is I haven't really eaten anything or have been in a situation recently that I would think would cause such a fluctuation....I know it's bad to obsess over numebrs, but that is what I have become over the last few years since losing weight....I almost decided to
"starve" myself back down to a very low weight, only to snap myself out of it (of course that would be STUPID!)....but I am still worried and need some reassurance I guess....
also, when should I...gulp....try reweighing myself?
Check your scale. Maybe you accidentally hit the adjustment knob which moves the "zero" setting?
If you are going to obsess over it, then re-weigh at the same time tomorrow so that you don't spend a whole week wondering...
If you are logging your calories carefully, you should be confident that you do not have a "real" gain of 5 lbs in one week. By next week the numbers should even out.
Or, maybe you have some muscle gain in your legs from the jogging?
Just some thoughts. I hope they are useful.
I think if it is going to bother you so much, play with your scale. Weigh your self in the morning, weigh yourself in the evening, after you go the bathroom. It becomes sort of a weird fascination to see your weight is not always set in stone. It can shift throughout the day.
Muscle gain is definately one consideration.
Another biggie is Sodium. I gained a lot of weight very quickly from having waaaay to much sodium. I had to drink a lot of extra water to help flush it out, but then it went back to normal. Make sure you are getting plenty of water.
Also if it's lady time, you may just be bloating.
I have the same problem. Where are you in your cycle? The week before my period and the week I have it usually gain 5 pounds! I can eat less or the same as usual and the same thing happens over and over. Could that be a possibility?
Which foods are high in both fat and calories?
Foods that are high in both healthy fat and calories are all nuts, nut butters, seeds such as sunflower seeds, oily fish (salmon, sardines... Read more
