Weight gain and your period....
I have been eating more then usual, but I have doing a lot of exercises. I went from 124 to 127 in one week. However, my calorie intake was still less then my calories burned. I am confused. I should have maintained my weight, not gained. Could it be because my period should start in 2 days?
Does anyone else experience weight gain starting about 1 week before their period?
I have also been getting minimum 50 grams of protein a day, thanks to a protein supplement drink. I have built a lot of new muscle, but there is no way that i gained 3 pounds in one week due to muscle gain.
Please help. ![]()
You may be bloated. Horomones that fluctuate before your period can cause you to retain sodium. Your body then tries to dilute the sodium with water, causing you to hold on to water. This can cause bloating and temporary weight gain. Just be sure you are drinking plenty of water and avoiding excess sodium.
Hope this helps :)
i would say it's almost definitely your period. don't worry about it!
Does anyone has fluctuations over over 5 lbs? I've had fluctuations as much as 8 lbs from water retention because it goes away within 2-3 days after my period, but it builds up over a week. It sucks!
I went up to 7lbs with water weight last month..thanks to my birthcontrol. So I quit taking it but still gained 3 lbs this month anyways...but it's way better than 7 right?!
My weight has fluctuated up to 6 pounds during my period. It's crazy too, because I continue to eat normally and don't consume large amounts of sodium. I guess my body just REALLY wants to hold on to water during that time.
Thank you everyone for making me feel better. Most months I only gain about 1 pound, a few days before my period. Maybe I was just being paranoid a bit. I just really want to lose more weight and was afraid it wasn't working. But, you are all right, it really is just my period. Oh, I just thought, I just started a new birth control pill last month, maybe the new birth control pill makes me retain more water. Maybe.
Thank you to everyone who sent replies in.
Normal to fluctuate. Period, sodium and so on can cause water weight. I can go up 2 lb in a day and down 2 the next. Always weight yourself same time everyday.
I find that around the 4th or 5th day of a period I feel soo much lighter and take great delight on weighing myself then, rather then the week preceding tom. Actually for that reason I don't weigh myself at all in that week anymore as it isn't genuine weight, just bloat.
oooo this makes me feel better! I just started counting calories on here again after a few weeks of just keeping track in my head each day (not so reliable lol). I was kinda disheartened yesterday when I weighed the same as I did a few weeks ago, even though I had still been cutting cals and working out. I didn't even take into account that I'm on my period at the moment and it *could* just be from that. ::fingers crossed::
