how much weight have you gained since age 18?

Quote  |  Reply

who's heard the theory that women should strive to weigh what they did at 18?  what do you think about it?  is it realistic?  healthy?

how much weight have YOU gained since high school?

uhhh, can you please define jacked?  Innocent  i don't think i've ever heard that term!

it can mean a lot of different things, but i suspect she means she was using cocaine.

I thought she meant her car was stolen.

I think about this a lot! When I first starting thinking about losing weight, my goal weight was 169, as this was my weight when I graduated. Size 10, not chubby at all; fit, but big boned. No boobs, no butt.

Now that I'm chubby, I like my boobs and my butt (so does my Fiance!), and I wonder if 160 is still a good goal, or if 170-175 would be fit but keeping my curves? Any thoughts? I am currently 215.

Ha! This is what happens when you let threads run wild! I'd always assumed that if I were using cocaine I'd lose like 20 pounds, but I've never really seen the need to look like Lindsey Lohan. And in that time, I also got my car hubcaps stolen, but not the car itself.

For clarity, I started lifting seriously and gained (what I keep telling myself) about 10 lbs of muscle.

hahaha just had to comment on 'jacked'. It means very muscular strong etc. Definately a canadian term then, since we use it all the time from my friends.

Well ill add on to this thread since im commenting, highest weight was last year when i hit 177. I am now 165ish and plan to never be the weight I was at 18 EVER again.

i have yo-yoed since forever. In fact i think at 18 after graduation i was around 160 (i am 5'4")... then i lost some weight since then, at my lowest (when i developed an ED) i was 23 and weighed 118. I am now back up (at 24) around 135. story of my life!

My weight at 18 was about 110 lbs... and I thought I was fat.  Looking at photos of myself back then I don't know why I thought that - I was skinny!

My highest weight was 154, a lot of weight for a 5'1" person.  At that weight I had to go shopping in the the plus size clothing section for jeans.. it was quite sobering.

My weight is currently 123, and I'm trying to get it down to 115.

LOL well i have 2 weights for my Grad weight. I graduated early (in january) and weight 135, which is actually too skinny on me. I have a large chest, and broad hips, sl for my arms n legs to be that thin isnt nice lol. But when i walked (in June) i was 160, a much better looking weight for me (and as quickly as i put it on alot more natural). Now im 240... so ive got about 80 lbs to go.. tho for now ill settle for under 200.

at most, I was 30 pounds heavier than on graduation day. But my normal settled in weight that I tend to maintain is around 15 pounds heavier.

I'm gonna be back to high school weight by summer though!!!

I was about 30 lbs. lighter at my HS graduation -- when I was 18. I am fairly happy with my weight and figure now at the age of 36. I wouldn't mind losing a few lbs. but it's not something I am actively working on now.

My body has changed a lot since I was 18. I was a "late bloomer" type of girl. So the 30 lbs., while a lot heavier, is really not all that bad....

I was 135 when I was 18. I am 5'3", so I was a little chubby. I gained up to 155 in my 20's and now at 31 am 100lbs. I remember wanting to loose a little in H.S. but it was really never an issue or a priority. Wasn't until my kids were born and I gained to my highest that I started getting serious.

I would love to be my weight when i was 18..on spring break  I was like 135 and felt incredible and looked good too :-)   i've been to my highest of 205(as of the beginning of this year) i've been up and down up and down for years and now my goal for right now is 150. I've been at that weight and felt great about myself. But when i reach that goal and feel like i could get to high school weight I'll do it. but I think now i would look kinda weird. I don't know maybe it's just b/c i've been so overweight for so long that would seem too thin.

A woman who was slim at 18 is unlikely to be able to get back to the same weight in a healthy way after her hips/bust fill out.  So, for a lot of women, it's an unreasonable goal.

I currently weigh about the same as I did at 18 and am hoping to lose another 10 pounds or so - but I was a chubby 18 year old.  Even so, my bust and hips will likely always be bigger than they were at 18; I'm just working on shrinking the waist/stomach/etc.

when I was 18 I weighed between 107-110 now I am 120, but I am ten times healthier than I was at 18 and much more muscular.

At 18 I weighed about 150lbs, now at 36 148lbs (lost 45lbs since August), but I have a lot more muscle than when I was 18:)

Umm I was anorexic at age 18 and weighed 60 pounds at 5'3 on my deathbed...So...yeah....by Jan. '08 after a 3 month binge spree (I was 110 pounds before the binge.) I was 163 pounds (highest I've ever been.) Hoping to get to 110 again...105 at the lowest. :)

when i was 18 i was 125 pounds......went to university...went up to 140....started running.......now i'm 110...

when your 18 you have a higher metabolism....i never used to work out religiously...i guess it's just a natural weight to strive for...you just have to work a bit harder at it...

This is such a gut-wreching thread.  If not for all,  it is for me.  For those of you who have improved your situations from when you were 18... YOU Rock.  Keep up the great way you are choosing to live your life and carry on.  For those of you who are like me?  137 on graduation day, 142 now, and a weight that has been all over the place from the highest of 189 (Non-Pregnant)  Why the heck do we do this to our selves?  Blecch... I am never going back to that weight gaining person ever!  Yes my waist will never be the same 26 inches of my youth?  But I would never give up my loves (2 daughters) ever.   Sorry for the long wind, but what I am trying to say is that you are in control of yourself always.. don't lose sight of that.

I was 125 when I was 18.... that was such a long time ago! lol My mother was constantley dieting and weighing her food (Weight Watchers) so I guess in a way, I became self conscience about my own weight at that age (although she would reassure me that I was at a healthy weight). After I joined the military after High School it was very easyfor me to maintain that weight and even at one point dieted down to 110... which was not healthy for my height of 5'6"... the military told me to gain 15 pounds or eles! lol  So I did of course....

I didn't have a weight problem until I was about 35 and went up to 190 lbs due to age, inactivity not watching my diet and medications. I joined Weight Watchers and got down to 150 which was my goal weight. As luck would have it, at 45 and at my heaviest (228) I got really depressed about the up and downs and found out I had a underactive thyroid. So... with that under control and with cutting out sugars and bad fats.... I am now at 178 lbs. My goal is 140 lbs.... I'm top heavy and my hip to bust ratio will be more propotioned at that realistic weight for me.

In short.... no.... I would not desire to be at the weight that I was at when I was 18 and much more active and into sports.

I was about 160 wehn I was 18. Gained 75 pounds in about 3 or so years. I've now lost 60 of those 75 pounds. 160 is definitely a weight that I should be able to maintain through my lifetime and possibly go lower than that if I really put the effort into it.

me too!!  i was 108-111 at age 18 and now i'm 122.  close enough haha.  i feel healthier now too (never used to eat fruits and veg, now i do) and much more muscular but i'm definitely bigger than i was then.  used to be 0/2, now i'm a perfect 4.

nevertheless, i'd love to get back down to 111!
