weight gainers : real sugar or the fake stuff

Quote  |  Reply

okay so for everyone on here trying to gain weight :

in your coffee, tea, oatmeal or anything you would add an artificial sweetner to pre-trying to gain weight, have you now replaced with real sugar?

what is better to use splenda or sugar?

I don't really like the idea of adding extra sugar to things, so if I do, I'll usually add honey instead, or even maple syrup. I really hate artificial sweeteners though, they taste really bad to me. So if I'm getting flavoured yogurt or juice, I always get the stuff that's either naturally sweetened (with honey) or just sweetened with sugar.

Not gonna lie...I am a SPLENDA girl!!

Ditto... Splenda is the best!  I've considered sugar in the raw as I've heard it's really good too, plus it has more calories.

Artificial sweeteners scare me. I refuse to use them.

I've actually found that a high sugar intake causes me to lose weight on what would usually cause me to gain. Weird. I figure that it's due to the way that my body metabolises sugars, as I am hypoglycemic and sugar in any form rushes right through my system.

That doesn't mean that I won't eat it anyway!;] It's just a treat rather than an every day thing, though I don't have a major sweet tooth anyways. When I do have sweets, I always have the REAL stuff. Natural raw sugar, raw honey, blackstrap molasses (my favorite) or maple syrup. I also have goodies such as ice cream once in a while with plain white sugar/corn syrup. I NEVER eat artificial sweeteners; they freak me out. I don't even chew gum anymore. I used to be a HUGE diet soda and sugar free gum addict, but once I lost the distorted thinking I quit it rather quickly and realised that they really aren't that great for me. I just don't drink soda and chew gum anymore, and that's fine by me. I feel tons healthier. My wallet is happier now, too.;]
