Hebrews 12:1-2 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Did you know weight lifting is bad for you. Alot of us are carrying around with us weights that we have no need to carry. There are weights and there are sins. Weights are not necessarily sins, but what they do is slow you down from running the race set before you. Some weights may be a spirit of discouragement, some weights may be the spirit of I can't do. (in conflict with the title of this room and the word of God), some weights may be financial and some may be family.
Contrary to popular belief, weight lifting will cause depression, weight lifting can cause weight gain and weight loss in a bad way, weight lifting can be distractive and cause you to take your eyes off your goal.
In order for us to achieve anything we set out to do, the bible says to lay aside every weight which so easily besets us, meaning you can't run an effective race carrying weights around with you. But if you keep your eyes on Jesus, who has set the path for your race, He is the author and the finisher, you will be able to run with patience, because now you have layed aside those things which is hindering your progress.
Not only that, but we are so encompassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, Read the 11 Chapter of Hebrews, all those imagine looking over the balcony of heaven shouting, run on my sister, run on my brother, I made and you can to, Shadrach Mechsach and Abendego made it, and God did not rescue them from the lions den, but rescued them in the lions den, Daniel made and and God did not rescue him from the lions den, but rescued him in the lions den all witnesses to what can happen when we lay down our weights, and run on looking to Jesus.
I truly can do all things through Christ-but only when we lay down our weights and run. RUN RUN RUN with patience, you will get to the finish line, but it would make it so much easier with a lighter load.
Lets make a decision to leave the weight lifting in the gym and carry around the glory of God for it was Jesus who said in Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:30 For My yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Lay down you weight today and run!!!!
Mark
