How much weight did you lose in January?
Sometimes I think shows like the Biggest Loser have created unrealistic expectations about losing weight. So I thought I'd start a thread to see what folks who actually have to work and cook their own food and live in the real world lost in January. I am also curious to know the average loss per month from folks who have lost consistently over the long term. Anyhow, for me:
SW (Jan. 5) : 205.4,
EW (ending weight): 200.8:
Total lost in January: 4.6.
awww i like this!
SW (Jan 5) : 176
EW: 166.2
Total lost in January: 9.8 ( A LOT of that is water weight!! I ate horribly and binged all through the christmas holidays, but its all gone yay!)
congrats on your loss!
SW 1/8/2009 252 lbs.
EW 1/29/2009 242 lbs. Lost 10 lbs
Plantar Fasciitis and Carpal Tunnel limit physical activity, but I hope to get back into weight lifting and walking/running.
I agree with you. But also keep in mind the more overwieght a person is the more wieght they lose at first then it slows down to the 2-4 lbs a week dropp off
SW(Jan2):326
EW (Feb1) 299
Total lost in January 27 lbs
of course I was not excersing so I started working out again and cut back my calories. Still eating what I like just a lot less of it and watching my fat and sodium intake a little more Good luck to ya my goal is 175 I know I got a long hard road a head of me.
I love the Biggest Loser and I do think it plays a role in my feelings about my own weight loss. I feel like I'm not doing enough.
SW(Jan4):203.2
EW (Feb1) 198.2
Total Loss in January 5lbs
I've lost 5lb, though I had lost 8lb as of a week or so ago, but I've been out drinking three times this week which has upped my calorie intake, so I've gained a bit. Hopefully those three pounds will drop off pretty easily again though.
SW(Jan 1): 350lb
EW(Feb 1): 336lb
Total loss: 14lb
I gained 1/4 lb. :(
At least I basically maintained.
SW - 146.8
CW - 142
Down 4.8 lbs for January. Which makes a total of 15.6 lbs since November 2nd. I am hoping to get to 132 by April.
I am also a fan of biggest loser and I agree that some times it has made me feel bad about my own weight loss, but I know that I am doing it the right way. Slow and steady... In 2006 I was 207.
SW - 175.5
CW - 171.2
Down 4.3 lbs - I'm glad I opened up this thread, since I was a bit bummed this morning from seeing my weight jump up after a few days of poor eating. Still on the right track though!
2 lbs. Not stellar, but hey, it's still 2 lbs. I didn't really get back on track with my eating until half way through the month so I'm happy.

SW: 168
CW: 158
Total of 10 lbs lost in the month of January. I attribute a lot of that to the January Deficit challenge, totally kept me focused and on track.
H: 5'11
SW (1/6): 214.5
CW (2/1): 207.4
Total of 7.1 lbs lost. Not my most stellar month but pretty on par with how much I should be losing every week...
H: 5'2
SW 1/11: 130 lbs
CW 1/31: 127 lbs
12 more lbs to reach my goal....
Total of 3 pounds lost. I feel absolutely amazing... The little that I have lost, is a huge motivation and confidence bust.....!! Eating health has made my hair shiny and my face glow!!

Lost: 7.2 lbs. in January
I just got started counting calories again in December, so this probably won't be my typical monthly weight loss. It would be nice, though!
I lost 7 lbs in January but I bought a digital scale at the start of January, and discovered my old scale was weighing 7lb too low -- I feel as though I haven't lost any weight even though I have. I'm a slave to the numbers!!
