How much weight did you lose in January?

Quote  |  Reply

Sometimes I think shows like the Biggest Loser have created unrealistic expectations about losing weight. So I thought I'd start a thread to see what folks who actually have to work and cook their own food and live in the real world lost in January. I am also curious to know the average loss per month from folks who have lost consistently over the long term. Anyhow, for me:

SW (Jan. 5) : 205.4,

EW (ending weight): 200.8:

Total lost in January: 4.6.

Height 5'4'', age 26

SW (Jan 7th): 148

EW: 145

Amount Lost: 3 lbs

Weighing in again tomorrow morning, hoping for another pound.

Height 5'8", age51

SW 245(Jan 1st) :245

EW: (jan31) 225

Amount lost 20 lbs in January

Feb 3 weighed in at 223.5

SW Jan17     177.4

EW Jan31     172.9

Amt lost 4.5 lbs

SW (Jan. 4): 68 kg

EW (Feb. 1): 64.5 kg

Lost 3.5 kg (7.7 lbs)

DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!!!

I completely agree that these shows set unrealistic expectations for those of us living normal lives....I have never seen anyone, especially a woman consistantly lose 8-10 lbs per week

I started this program on Jan 10 2009 and have lost a total of 2 lbs. so far.

01/05/09 147.8  too afraid to weigh on 01/01/09

01/30/09 142.4

lost 5.4lbs.

I watch biggest loser too and it does sometimes make me feel bad that they can lose like 20lbs in a week and I can't lose 20lbs in a year.  I do realize that the more you have to lose the faster it comes off at first.   I have to fight hard for every lb.  It seems I keep losing the same ones over and over.  They come off and then for no apparent reason they just come back.

Well, I gained 2lb over Christmas which I lost a long with another 3lb.

So, 3lb or 5lb depending on how you look at it but either way I consider that a GREAT month. I lose weight very slowly these days, now that I am close to my goal weight and have been at this for 2 years!

SW  259

EW   239

20 POUNDS SO FAR.  EATING 1700 CAL A DAY ON AVERAGE AND EXCERCISING HARD ON AVERAGE 1.5 TIMES A DAY 7 DAYS A WEEK.

Sw Jan 01: 241

Weight on Jan 30: 223

Weight Loss:  18lbs.

I did by sticking to 1800 calories a day, with 45 mins of vigorous elliptical work-outs 6 days out of 7. I ate four meals a day saving my favourite for 'round 10 PM when I used to binge. To be honest, it hasn't really been all that hard to do, but I've got about three months to go!

SW:183

Weight on Feb 3: 175.

Weight Loss: 8 lb.

I ate WAAAY too much over the holidays, but I have made quite a few changes in my eating habits.  Hopefully I can keep this up.  Good luck to everyone! :]

Hi everyone....I do watch the biggest loser.  Love the show and don't think it gives me unrealistic expectations.  After all those people are in the gym 5-6 hours a day aren't they?

Just joined on Feb. 1st.  Have been on Weight Watchers for the past 5 years.  I have lost 125 lbs so far, but have been stuck at the same weight for quite awhile.  So I am trying a new method..Counting calories instead of points.  I joined a gym in july 2007 and lost 17 lbs in a year, which isn't much, but I gained a lot of muscle and went down 2 pant sizes.  And another size down in the last 6 months which to me is great.  I have joint and back problems which limit the types of exercise I can do, plus I am in menopause...so losing weight is tough.  I did lose 4 lbs in Jan.  But 2 of that was from the holidays.  I am so sick of this plateau and hope I can get it going again.

this site says I burn 2000 cal a day for my size and weight (217 lbs) so I have reduced my calories to 1500 daily and my workouts are 3 times a week and burn about 500 cal at the gym.  So hopefully in 2 weeks I will see a weight loss.  Anyway,  new to the group thing, hope it will help to talk about the struggle.  I have also cut way down on my evening snacks and staying on the computer helps cuz I don't eat when I'm on the computer like I do when I just sit and watch TV.

Good luck to everyone.
