i've been thinking about a breast reduction for a long time, but since stumbling on this website i've finallly had some weight loss success and think i'm really gonna be able to stick to this as a lifestyle.. so i have put the breast reduction idea on hold to see if weight loss will change my bra size naturally.
i know everyone's bodies are different, but is there anyone who has seen a significant change in their breast size with weight loss? that would be major added incentive to keep me eating right and exercising!

Regarding sagging breasts, I just wanted to relate my experience. When I got pregnant and during my time nursing my babies, my breasts ballooned up from A's to nearly D's. After I weaned my babies, I developed sagging.... not very attractive sagging. I felt like those women in the National Geographics. LOL. My breasts deflated down to a full B and have remained a full B ever since. I have only really lost a smidgen since losing 8 lbs. I have lost a lot more around and above the bra band though, but just a smidgen on the cup.
Today my kids are 12 and 14, and my breasts no longer sag. It took time, but yes, they rebounded quite nicely!! You can still see stretch marks on my breasts, but they are not saggy. I wouldn't say I have the perkiness of a 20 year old who's never had children, but they are really not that bad ... not bad at all!! I credit consistent use of underwire bras, and never exercising without a proper, supportive exercise bra. And also yoga, which corrects posture issues and throws back your shoulders to give you some lift.
Incidentally my stomach was not so lucky... I will always have a puckery belly button and loose skin, no matter how much I lose or how much I exercise, and lots of stretch marks that really never faded like they said they would. But my breasts are another story.

Yup a lift will decrease your size. I had one done last Summer and I was a DD and now I am a small B.
This was after 135 pounds lost and now I am at 158 lost and there has been no affect on the size since the surgery.
I could not be happier with the results!

I agree with some of the previous posters. Unless you have a physical condition that is forcing you to consider this now, my advice is to wait.
I had a breast reduction at 19, as a large D, for medical reasons. The results were great, large B cup, and there were no complications. However, when I had a child and gained weight, the weight went to my breasts as well, back into a D.
Now, after a child and some weight loss (about 25 pounds lost now), I'm back into a regular C. But now I have the scars from surgery as well as the stretch marks from pregnancy. They're getting better with weight loss, a little perkier with the weight-training and all. I would just get your body where you want it to be with the weight loss, and have surgery for finishing touches. If my baby belly doesn't go away with these last ten pounds, I may be looking at plastic surgery again myself. I am just really hesitant to put any more scars on my body at this point! I want to try to get where I want to be naturally first.
Good luck!!

I'm only down 7 lbs and have lost 1.5 inchs off my chest. Thank God!! I was popping out of my 36C's all winter ... it was not attractive, but I refused to buy a D cup cuz I new it was all due to my weight gain. My trainer took my measurements last week and almost felt bad telling me -- I was thrilled! I was so sick of seeing my tops w/ the buttons about to burst!
I agree wholeheartedly - lose the weight first. I got a breast lift about 4 years ago and completely regret the whole thing. The scars look worse then the saggy boobs did. :(
Yes, and no. When I started (at 284), I was a 44DD. Now, at 210, I'm a 34DDD or a 36DD. I haven't lost much in cup size, but I've dropped a lot of inches around. It is kind of funny. At the rate I'm going, I'm going to end up looking like Barbie if some of that cup doesn't come off before I reach my goal weight of 150! LOL!
Dont you worry!!! I'm sure you won't need it! When I started working out I was 123 and now i'm 113.. AND I LOST A CUP AN AND A BIT!!! I Was 34d now i'm a 32 c =( =( U wouldn't think about it but you really miss them . But anyways... Good luck!! =)
I went from a D to an A (From 183lbs to 120lbs). Not necessarily a good thing since they completely lost their shape and are quite deflated now.
Oh jeez, I hope I lose some breast with the weight loss.
I'm 5'4 and about 155lbs. with a DD chest size. I'm 17. I've heard it was bad to get a breast reduction this young, so I'm hoping weight loss would bring it down a cup or two.
Hope it works for you too. :D

I've lost close to 40 lbs (from 238 to around 200), and my breasts have shrunk a little bit, but not enough yet to go down a cup size. It might be my imagination, but I do think they've gotten a bit saggier.
I'm starting to seriously entertain the idea of a lift in a couple of years...after I finish (hopefully) losing the weight and have kept it off a while.

OK 5'2, 205, bra size 40G which is not big enough. I could easily go up 2 cup sizes. I have seen a surgeon who recommends a breast reduction but I am very nervous. Maybe I should just wait until I have lost some weight. What if I have the reduction then lose weight. How will they look? Saggy? If there is anyone who can give their story I would love to hear. Most of the responses that I have read were DDD at the largest.
im 18yrs old, 5'5 and bra size 30FF...totally out of proportion. So im on a mission to quite dramatically reduce my cup size.whether it'll work or not i don't know but im so desperate, hate having huge boobs. any tips???
Also in terms of toning up for anyone else who's looking to reduce their cup size, I've had a couple of sessions with a trainer at my gym who gave me this routine:
10mins cardio (running,rowing,bike,stepper,cross-trainer... )
20mins weights-work the body equally (upper+lower body) plus i tend to do extra chest weights-quite a few sets but on a light weight.
30 mins cardio (different from the 10min warm-up)
20mins abs+stretches.
basically im starting to do this 3 times a week so hopefully i'll lose the weight and avoid sagging! last tip....good sports bra is ESSENTIAL for big boobs!

i've been working out and eating well for almost a month. i've lots 7.5ish pounds and sure enough i already see a difference in my breasts. haven't lost a cup size or anything like that, but right actually i am wearing a bra that i used to pop out of and it is fitting quite nicely. i know everyone loses weight differently, but on me my body shows little differences quickly and i'm happy to see that my breasts are definitely showing some results!
however, they do look a little saggier which i expected. oh well, this is better than nothing!

I have lost 60lbs in the last six months and I have lost a cup and a half. Which I am not to happy about because I always loved my D cup chest. But my back doesn't hurt and more so I guess that is a plus.
Yes. I have lost two cup sizes. Go look at my photos... for real. One day I had breasts... next set of photos you can't tell my back from my front if I only photograph my torso.
Lose the weight, join a gym and then reassess.

I think it depends on your genes & where you were when you were thinner. I was a 36A (poor poor me) & the only thing I like about the weight gain is the B & sometimnes even C cup - but I know its the last place the weight goes & first place it comes from. I'd wait & see though especially if your not sure. Good Luck.

Ok here is a question, where your breasts big before you gained the weight, or did they get bigger as you got bigger? I had a breast reduction 4 years ago and it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. What kind of insurance do you have? My bluecross covered the whole thing and I had a cousin who had hers covered by medicaid. Im not trying to force you into the reduction, but it really did wonders for me. If you gained bigger breasts with the weight then you probably have more fatty tissue then mammory tissue so you will probably lose it with pounds, but if you have always had large breasts then I think that your breasts are not mainly fat. Hope that helps.
I think it depends on your body type and all sorts of factors. Not everyone loses in the same places. Some people will lose more from their breasts than others when they lose weight. So I would say lose the weight first and then decide.
I lose 35 lbs and I went from a 38DD to a 36D. It was not that much of a difference. I have been considering a breast reduction for many years and now I am really considering it more seriously. The only reason I haven't done it yet is because I haven't had children (and I hope that I do). I have 2 friends who had reductions before they had kids and they were fine but I am worried that I will want to get a lift/reduction again after I have kids (if I have kids). My history is that I've always had a larger size chest -- even when I was very thin. I was very tall and skinny until college when I developed breasts. Once they "grew" for real they were always there no matter my size/weight/thin/fat.
I will say that if you have a breast reduction, and then you gain back a lot of weight, your breasts will probably get larger again. That happened to 2 of my friends after they had reductions and lost weight. But maybe that is just better motivation for us to maintain our smaller weights! :)
Good luck -
Amy

Amy, another super important reason to wait until after having children
is breastfeeding. Most moms who get reductions can only partially
breastfeed. I'm a huge breastfeeding advocate and it seems that
many women don't consider this issue before doing a reduction surgery.
As far as cup size shrinking with weight loss, I've lost 83.5 lbs as of this AM (yay!) and my breasts have shrunk, but so has my bandwith, so my cup size has maybe only gone down one. I'm currently a 40J. I was a 46 K to start out, so a big reduction for sure. I was a DDD back in my normal weight days, but pregnancy made me get much larger and it didn't go away after weaning or with weight loss. So I fully expect to have a breast reduction someday. They're also extremely saggy.

Heres the thing i have lost 59 pounds and the only change has been in the circumfrence of the bra not the cup. Here's how to tell what cup you wear and if you are perhaps not wearing the right size. Alot of woman think they do but they don't. First measure under you breast. Then measure around the fullest part of your breast subtract this number from the other and this will give you your size. Sizes go as followed:
0 in. = AA
1 in = A
2 in = B
3 in = C
4 in = D
Here is where i got some of this info. http://www.sizes.com/people/brassiere.htm
Hope this helps.
