Congratulations again, girl!

Abs will probably take a while to get back into shape. As I said on another topic, at 6 months postpartum (after my second c-section), I still have some pain if I overdo it. When I was at 6 weeks postpartum, I would still have light bleeding to accompany the pain if I did too much.

Ease back into it. The doctors have to cut through ab muscles to perform a c-section so getting them back to how they used to be is a long road.

I'm at the same weight-loss point you are and I haven't done much exercising. I'm breastfeeding and watching what I eat. I'm certainly not toned and have recently started working out again. I find that if I don't eat enough and have too large a deficit, my milk production suffers and I don't lose weight. I'm eating 2,000-2,100 calories on days that I'm not working out. I've hit a plateau with my weight loss so I finally gave in and started exercising. I am having to ease into it, too. If I do too much ab work, I'm too sore to do more ab work the following 1-2 days.

My workouts consist of using our Wii Fit. I do Yoga, hula-hooping, step aerobics and running. I only manage to get in about 20 minutes a day at this point. My husband has been using the Fit for an hour a day since January and has lost 43 pounds so far so hopefully it will do as much for me as it has for him.

Only 5 pounds away from pre-pregnancy weight at 6 weeks PP is FANTASTIC. Great job! And lucky you with the sleeper! What a cutie!

Congratulations! New babies are sooo precious :-)

The younger you are the faster pregnancy weight will melt off if you breastfeed. I had lost all the pregnancy pounds plus a few by my 6 week follow-up but somehow I still looked totally flabby. Getting your abs back is definately going to be a harder job. I'm beginning to think my body will never look the same....friends with young children tell me this is true and that is discouraging. I would suggest getting some low intensity thing like yoga to start and work your way up to something harder. Good Luck!

I breast fed both my children for 13 months and holy Sh-t did the weight fly off like you wouldn't believe!!  My daughter had me down to 85lbs when I was doen with her and believe me I was eating!!  Mind you I'm only 4'11" but good god, not only was it an incredible bonding experience but certainly helped with the loss of weight.

only 5 lbs to go? That's awesome! I'm 7 weeks PP, and I still have 35 to lose to meet my pre-pregnancy weight! Good for you!

Congratulations on your new baby and getting to your pre-baby weight so fast.  I would have killed to be pre-baby weight in six weeks.  It took about two years for me to get to Pre-Baby weight No. 2, and I'll probably never get to Pre-Baby weight No. 1 again (though that's a little low for my height so I'm not too worried about it.)  You're very lucky, that's for sure.

I'm sure those five pounds will come off in the next few months or so, and your stomach area will tighten (mine did after both of them, even though I didn't lose the baby weight right away).  I'd recommend doing ab exercises, especially ab exercises involving weights (not sure if you go to a gym, but if you do, hit those first when you're doing your weight training).  They've really helped me in that area a lot.

BF did not bring along any weight loss wonders for me for either the first or second one, but I'm glad it worked for you.  And I commend you on breastfeeding your baby.  It's definitely not a walk in the park as some books and lactation consultants make it out to be, but I think it's worth it in the end.

Congratulations on your new baby! If you are breastfeeding, then I would hold off on cutting any calories for awhile. A few months at least. Your body uses 500-100 calories a day making breastmilk, and you are using more taking care of the kids! Those last 5 lbs will probably go away on their own, but be patient. It took 9 months to gain all the weight, you need to give yourself that much time to let your body recover. Give yourself permission to relax, take it slow and enjoy your new baby! Wink
