Hello, I'm looking for others trying to lose a lot of weight, to keep each other motivated threw our bad days and cheer us on on our great days! to keep each other going threw out the week by staying in touch. I want people who want to reach there goal weight and wont quit tell we reach them! who's with me?!?!

I am 5'3 and weigh 217 pounds, my goal weight is 127lbs by May 30th of 209

Barbara!  So glad to hear from you.  Your words are always so heart-felt, honest and never fail to inspire me!  From the length of your post, it looks like Atilla is doing a great job getting your booty back in shape!  I'm sure you'll be surfing with speed from home again soon.

Vablueangel - Thanks for the hugs.  I needed them yesterday.  I ended up turning my day around, got tons done around the house and did the treadmill for 2 miles.  I even managed to get my 4 year old to try (and like) asparagus!

Lindsey, I totally hear you about pictures!  About 6 weeks ago I was feeling good about myself for a change, bought a new outfit and thought I looked hot!  I wore it everywhere for about 2 weeks...to a dr's appointment, to a cookout, a party, etc.  Then I saw a photo of myself in it and ACK!  I couldn't believe how terrible it looked.   I'm telling you it was soul crushing.  I vented about it on here when it happened and posted a photo of me in the outfit in my gallery.  Then I got to thinking...if I looked that bad at 210 how did I look at my heaviest?  So I looked though years of photos and posted one of me at over 250lbs.  Now when I look at my gallery I see how much better I look, maybe I've still got the baby pooch, but it's so much smaller!  It's encouraging instead of discouraging.  It actually gave me the courage to wear that outfit again and like it!

My post will be short this morning.. ( I can already hear the sighs of relief  lol )

I'm headed out for my Drs Appt.. in just a little bit.. Since it takes me awhile to shower.. dress..etc I have to run.. ( Make that waddle lol )

But.. I hope to hear I at least lost a pound.. Not much too want for two weeks work is it? ( But.. would gladly accept more  lol )

I will post my results when I return.. good or bad.. ( See I even forewarned you..lol )

Time for me to go torture the other patients a bit.. ( Make them either want to smack me or actually like me a little..lol  But.. I'm after a smile and work hard at times to get that from people..lol )

Well.. I made a small step totals my goal.. I'm down another 2 lbs..

Not bad considering I am not able to do too much physically yet..

I'm happy Smile with those results as didn't really expect more than a pound if that..

Hola ladies, I'm hoping that everyone is well this evening, I'm sorry I haven't been around much, my internship keeps me swamped, and when I get home all I feel like doing is talking to my family a bit, eating dinner, then laying down and watching some tv, I know it's bad. I hate how I have nooo ambition to do anything once I get home, it's like the bus saps all of my energy out of my butt during the ride home. I just realized I've been on this site a little over a month now, possibly the longest I've stuck with any "diet" (even if this happens to be a life change this time) so I feel good that way, but I'm kinda disheartened to see that I gained back a pound or 2 when I stepped on the scale this morning :( I tried changing my cals from 1450 to 1500 a day just to make for more even numbers, could that have cause the gain? So much for smooth sailing into onderland... I also haven't been a good girl on the weekends and eating a bunch of junk, but there's been reason to celebrate and it's been hard.

Speaking of said reasons to celebrate, I got engaged the other day :-D *dances* I also got to see a concert last night. Life has been pretty eventful lately, and while I like eventful I need to learn that it doesn't mean tossing all of my effort into the trash can because of eating junk.

CONGRATS VAB! Seeing that scale slide down is so wonderful.

Lindsey, I am a scale junkie. I can not go more than 36 hours without weighing. I only count what I weigh on Sunday as far as "making goal"

My TOM is here, so I'm in the same boat as Jodi. I've been holding steady at 262 but am expecting the weight gain soon. I"m actually glad the TOM is finally here so I can stop cheating with my calories and eventually have more energy.

As far as pictures go...I know exactly what yall mean! The worse is pictures with people who are normal weight. By myself I can kind of play it off but when it's a group shot all I can think is "I'M A HOUSE!" Thank goodness I found this website!'

RENA! I wear a size 12 shoe too! On top of everything else I've been cursed with GIANT feet. You must tell me where you get shoes!

I cheated today with 1 dark chocolate/pecan covered apple slice that was truly decadent and truly wonderful and truly worth it. I also had lunch at an Italian place....but then I had a Healthy Choice, 2 side salads and 1 pack of low fat dressing for dinner so I'm feeling good.

The gym has been so crowded the last 2 days right after work which kinda sucks. It's like people are still trying to make up for Labor Day...

Hi there girls. hey to all the NEWBIES also.  I won't be able to get everyone in on this post, so know that I am think of all of you daily and hoping that any of your stuggles get easier.  scale gave me 210 this morning. that was a welcome sight.  I had been down some toward end of last week, and then held some water weight and hovered at 215-216  that was discouraging, but anyway glad to see the 210 this morning.  we went out and celebrated hubby's birthday, it was 8th, and our anni. which was the 3rd. did it all one time with one meal at salt grass steak house. Iwon't go in to what all we had , really we didn't do too bad, except for that huge slice of cheese cake they brought us at the end to celebrate. alright I am not going to feel bad about it either, do you know how long it has been since we had something decadent like that.   anyway I will go swim some more tomorrow and work it off.  I realize that I am going to have to walk everyday and swim on the days when I can If I am going to feel good with my back and all around. It seems that if I miss one day that I just don't get around as good.  I am sure going to miss that swimming when pools closes in oct or sooner.  icegeneis, congrats on the engagement.  what an exciting time. so glad that you are sticking to the plan. It gets easier over time. or that is how it has been for me. making myself accountable for what I eat makes me think about the things I eat more.  sometimes I fluctuate5-7lbs or more. that has been happening alot lately. if I weight constantly or took the scale literally when that happened I would lose my mind.  alot of mine was fluid and in a few days it came off. if you are counting cal. and exercising and having a defecit then you will lose and doing it the right way will keep it off. slowly.    Being at 210 I realize I will have to drop cal from 1850 or so to 1500 or so and exercise an hour daily to realize the weight loss I have had already. less exercise I will lose slower, or more calories same exercise will be slower.  it is math.  keep sticking to the plan, and keep up the good work.!  Rena, I totally understand about exercise and having to make yourself do it. I always feel good while I am doing it and after I do it both emotionally and physically.  swimming is my fave. exercise.    luvhim, barbara,  so glad to see you up talking to us all. we need your inspiration in our lives.  so good to see you posting. say hi to atilla.    you will be home soon and up to your old tricks again. I am sure hubby and kids can't wait to have mom home.    welcome asia.   remember that 238 is just a number, it is not who you are. It is just a start point.  Lets look at how you got there. and how you need to eat and exercise to get to where you want to be.for a person 238 lbs it only takes about 2300 calories to maintain that weight.  the misconception that most people have about people that are overweight is that they eat all the time and eat huge amts. that is not always the case unless you are steadily gaining more and more.  so it is math. you have to cut down to say 1800 calories and do say 200 calorie burn, ( more calories if you are pretty active less if not so active.) I know Ialways hated exercise except my twirling and my marching band and dancing. PE always bit the big one because we had to take PE with all the jocks.  they should have a jazzercise or dance class or something for the ones that are not and don't want to be jocks, right??   just walking is great exercise if you have to walk around football field in  early morning or whenever you can or walk at a mall if you have one nearby. anything to get you going.  set small goals, like everyone else has said.....drinks lots of water.  I have always hated water, but have found now that I made myself drink it I like it and it refreshes me . I drink the recommended amt per day then allow myself diet green tea or something. diet sodas sometimes leave you hungry beware. but if you have to drink a soda drink diet.  you can lose the 38 lbs you want to lose by your birthday. you should talk to an adult, mom, aunt, close family friend or someone about helping you plan meals and also meal to take to school. do not skip meals, it is important to keep you metabolism working for you. several small 300-400 calorie meals perday are better than say 2 larger meals, and one meal a day is never a good idea...   130 lbs sounds pretty small, but I don't know what your frame is. my high school weight was 160 and I was active and a twirler and marched etc.  I was very curvy and hippy and wore a 36DDD by the time I was a sr.   remember it is a journey to get where you are going .  don' t fall in to crash diet scenario. they are bad news and can damage your heart and kidneys and other body organs. the best way is the old fashioned way slow and steady and with exercise to help build muscle and speed metabolism. it does not have to be too strenious either. I walked only for about 3 months during recuperation from back surgery.  you can do this girl. we are all here for you.....hug hug hug. when I was in highschool I also was teased. the girls did not tease but the boys really gave me what for. I realize looking back that I was not the only one, but I felt like I was. I was pretty popular in all things twirler, band, annual staff class sec. etc etc., but the boy dept I struck out in.  with the boys at my high school. of course it was a very small school and really I am glad I never dated any of them anyway. I could go out of town and had all sorts of guys ask me out. don't let the teasing get to you. you do your thing and smile and keep them all wondering what you are up to... ok...... hang in there.....     sorry not able to get everyone in.    jodi,  hope you are feeling better.   wear that out fit and strut it girl.  Isn't it funny that we get more self concious when we lose weight than when we are really heavy. I have found myself doing that.  Is it that we think we are invisible when we are heavy. got to ponder that one for a minute.   I felt good to day when a stranger I smiled at,look at me,hen looked at me again, ( it was a lady, don't get too excited.) and said that sure is a beautiful blouse you have one.  I tell people that too when I see something real bright and  pretty. she made my day..... every one take care.  we are watching Ike now.  they say texas  is in for it.  pray for us........... penny

I haven't gotten on the scale in a few days and I'm itching to see how I'm doing, but I don't want to get discouraged because I'm still in my TOM.  Shizzi, when do you weigh yourself?  Same time every day?  I try to do it in the morning before breakfast.  I find I weigh the least in the morning.

Icegeneis, Congratulations!  Not only for the engagement, but for sticking with CC during times of change.  It's not easy to do.  You go girl!

Vablue - I'd take 2lbs any day!  My average is about 1.5 a week...but in reality it's more like 3 lbs one week...then nothing for a week, then a .5 lbs here and there. 

Hey, does anyone understand the new food pyramid?  They sent this sheet home to teach the kids about how to eat a balanced diet and I don't understand the thing.  The pyramid is sliced like a pie, not horizontally like before.  There are no percentages written on it and all the sections look just about identical.  How am I supposed to teach my kids how to eat right (and do their homework) if the materials sent home are so terrible!  It's ridiculous!

I am new to the cc and is part of the 200+ club.  I have been reading your blogs and would love to join.  My short term goal is to lose 25 lbs by Nov 08, than lose another 10% of weight, so forth.  My problem is staying motivated and staying with exercising.    I seemed to be going in circles, especially around TOM. 

Any advice or encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome traveldiva! We are glad to have you join in fellowship with us,  to encourage and support each other.  I know losing 25 pounds in 2 months can be done,  however,  it is not easy.  I will root you on though. Go for it!

I was putting my swimsuit on this afternoon to get ready for my hydrotherapy,  and I noticed that it went on easier,  so I decided to step on the scale.  I was thrilled to see that I am down 3 pounds so far this week,  with 2 days to go to the end of the week.  I didn't start losing weight again,  until I started hydrotherapy. I recommend it!

I hope today has been a good one for you.. I've had a extremely lazy day... Just felt the change of the weather a lot today.. As it went from nice.. warm.. and sunny days.... To a overnight of cloudy.. chilly to me.. and my breathing has been affected badly today.. My asthma has been very good lately.. the regular breathing not as labored either.. But.. today has me back on the breathing meds and machine.. It makes for a very slow moving about day..Frown But.. hopefully either tomorrow will be better or I'll have adjusted enough from today to feel better anyway..

Thank too all of you for the Congrats on my weight loss.. It makes the goal even better knowing others are behind you and are happy with your small victories..

icegenesis.. Congrats on the engagement.. As for the weight gain.. Don't worry a lot about it.. Just stay with the lifestyle change ( Not a diet) and it will change back down for you..No matter what we eat or do.. I think our bodies will do that yoyo affect at times.. Maybe its away of keeping our attention and saying.. " You need to take a closer look at what you are doing to me.." So.. that we can change bad habits or try other changes that might help more..

shizzigirl.. we all need to cheat every once in awhile.. Just to say.. I can enjoy this or that.. But.. I've had my fix for you and now... its back to the different lifestyle change I made.. Because its what I chose for myself.. Not.. what I have too do.. As for the gym.. Look at it being crowded because more people just like yourself have decided to make changes for the better in themselves.. If the crowds thins out again.. That just says.. Look how few meant what they promised themselves..

Jodi.. I am grinning as I read your post.. Because you sounded just like me when I was asked night before last a question about homework.. My youngest grand daughter asked me if I could help her with her homework before her Father picked her up.. She then proceeds to pull out this time line graphic.. and is supposed to give 10 facts about things that happened in her life from the time she is born until now.. ( She is 8) I'm thinking how is this child supposed to answer 80 facts on her life in one night.. Plus how does she know what was going on important for the first few years in her life..  So.. we went on line to search for important data for each year until age 5.. Then she made me laugh as she wrote down what had happened that was important to her in the last three years.. I said.. Maybe the teacher meant the same material for all of the years.. She said.. Well.. Nanny.. the instructions clearly say.. Ten facts about MY life from birth until now.. So.. we gave her important history facts for the years I can't remember.. For these years I can remember what was important to my life..  I have no idea how that theroy will go over with her teacher.. But.. she sure gave me good reasons for writing the rest of it her way.. Sooo. I feel she can explain it just as well to her teacher.. Lol  How much kids learning has changed.. I wouldn't have thought that material would be asked of a 8 year old.. Never the less.. Just taken as normal by that same 8 year old..

I think my scale has officially gone nuts, or something is awfully wrong, I tried weighing myself again earlier and it said 114! I was just down to 111 not too long ago, I'm wondering if this is bloaty girlie problems throwing a monkey wrench into my system...

Jodi, I weigh in the evenings everyday between 5:15-5:30. I like to weigh at my gym bc the scale (that I JUST bought) does not move...EVER, so I assume it's broken.

Welcome on board diva! I love that we call it TOM. It would be a guy...laugh laugh...most women deal with fluctuations when TOM is visiting. When I first came to the board, one of the ladies I'm sorry I can't remember who made a comment to me when I was complaining about my TOM and the scale not moving and how we tend to cheat (heavily) right before which doesn't help anything....it sounded better when she said it...

Pam congrats on a good start off this week.

VB - hurrah for lazy days! I'm working on convincing myself that cheating a few times a week is okay, not once per day! Wish me luck ;)

Tomorrow is my one month anniversary on CC and my change in lifestyle. Since Aug 11 I've lost 13 lbs.

Hello everyone!!! And newbies!!! It seems like everytime I log back on their are newbies. That is just fantastic.

I have been really busy with work and the boys. And all of their extracuricullar activities. It sounds like everyone is doing really well. Keep up the good work!! I went for my mammo and haven't heard anything so I'm guessing that is good news.

Lonestar Penny-- I was getting ready for Ike. I went to the store and brought all the necessities but now it looks like he is going to go your way. I will keep you in my prayers. They were saying the winds were going to be bad here in SA but now they don't know.

Hugs to you whatever you are doing and prayers are still being said on your behalf.    valueableangel,continue to do what you do and uplift.  earthmom, if you are there hang in there.   pinkprissy,   yes the track of Ike has shifted our way and now they say it will come in at galveston and straight up through houston- we are about 100 miles from galveston and 65 or so north of downtown houston as the crow flies..  It could even track further east and go in at Pt. arthur, beaumont area like rita in which case we would still get the same affects. 100 miles per hr sustained winds for a long period like 12 hrs or more and gust to 110. at lake livingston dam they had 114 to 120 mile per hour sustained winds and it nearly too the dam down ( during rita).  we have done all the prep we can. we have plenty of canned food water etc. will probably lose power for up to 2 weeks or so  they did during Alecia which took about this same track in 82 or so. we also lost power 2 weeks during Rita. all these trees wreak havoc on power lines in these piney woods.  that is what I dread. the power outage...... we will be at mother in laws house ( brick home) during the storm and come back to ours after ( also brick home)  because we still had city water during the power outage. the state or someone brought emer. generator to keep water up on our rural water suppl. corp. ma is on a well. our generator will not run her well.    oh well.  I may not be able to get on line for up to 2 weeks after this so If you don't see my posts say a little prayer that all of us without power are not burning up.  ( it got up to 105-108 actual temp last time and with heat and humidity factor it was up to 115,  , us with no generator. ugh.       will talk to you all when I can.        hugs to all.       hope I can keep up my strength and not do any binges during this thing. I have done so good staying away from anything like that for so long. nerves can be a powerful thing..... I will try to get on in the morning before I leave and update what I know..............penny

I'M HOME!!! Oh it's so nice to be back in my own bed and eating my husband's good food.  (He's a MUCH better cook than I am!)  And yes, I did say eating - I've strengthened my throat muscles enough to eat soft foods IF I chew like crazy.  I'm not going to choke again like I did over a month ago.

Penny, you are in my prayers my friend!  In 2004 we were hit with THREE hurricanes here in Central Florida.  Got so good about cooking on the grill, I had to relearn cooking on a real stove.  Get as much canned fruit you can - that was always something my family craved when the power was out.

Now ladies, I have a challange for you.  Go to your local library and check out a video, not just any video mind you.  Go and get one on belly dancing!  Yep, we curvacious women and do that with abandon!  Good for your stamina, good calorie burner and darn good fun.  Don't be ashamed or self conscious - the kings of Persia loved watching their larger wives dancing.  This dance was MADE for us ladies!  And even though I can't walk very fast, I'm having a blast moving my hips and doing that groove thang!  I'm serious!  Do it!!!!

Have to go and walk around the block.  Yee Haa, I can do that now!  God is SO GOOD!!!

Welcome traveldiva.  Good luck on your agressive goal.  If you calculate your calories using CC's tool and log your exercise you can do it.  I lost alot at first...now I'm thrilled if I lose 5 lbs a month.

Speaking of which, I haven't gotten on the scale since the beginning of my period last weekend...then I didn't get on it because it was my birthday and I was celebrating by eating and I didn't want to see that I didn't reach my goal of 199 by my birthday.  Well, now my birthday has come and gone...I'm  a year older and still haven't gotten on the scale.  I'm hoping to muster up the courage tomorrow morning.

Good news...I bought a size 16 jeans over the weekend and they fit!  They've got some lycra in them, so I'm not a "real" 16, but I'll take it!

Good Morning Ladies,

Nothing new to report. I had drinks Friday and Saturday nights so I'm sure I'll pay for that soon. According to the scale this morning (after my workout) I was down to 259, but yesterday it said 262 so who knows.

My goal this week is to REALLY buckle down, no cheating, no alcohol and to workout.

I hope everyone had a good weekend, I pray everyone made it through the storm safely and good luck this week :)
