Hi everyone.  I hope everybody is enjoying the weekend.  It is kind of a dreary day here in NY.  However, I've had a pretty enjoyable relaxing day.  Got together with some friends last night and got home late, so I'm enjoying doing not much of anything today.

Gracie, I just went through a gain recently too.  I'm back on track now, sounds like you are too.  Like Jodi said, a lot of it could have been water gain that will go away.

Jodi - why is it that the slightest slip ups have to show on the scale, yet it takes so much to see the scale go down even just a little!!

leelee

Thanks Jodi. Slip ups happen we are only human. I hardly ever weigh myself so the slip up don't get me down I just try harder the next day. My biggest struggle is at night I just want stuff to munch on and it stinks when I run out of popcorn lol. It is always hot here in the west TX desert so treadmill is my only option lol and I have a pull up bar that I am getting pretty good at so my hubby says still can't do it like him lol my feet touch the floor between reps lol :).  I am going to the trade market tomorrow for all the walking I hope it cools down outside a bit by then but I doubt it. Well gotta go shave my **** zu its his turn lol. Have a great weekend everyone keep up the good work   WE CAN DO THIS!!!

Maybe it's the dreary weather that has me down in the dumps.  I ate really well yesterday but I didn't get on the treadmill.  My knees have been hurting me.  But I'm not going to use that as an excuse.  I'm going to go out for a jog in a few minutes.  I don't want to, but I know once I get it over with I'll feel better!

Thanks Luckie, I try not to weigh myself too often, but I find that even if the number is disappointing and I get a little depressed it's still better for me to know the damage I have done.  Then I can undo it.  But like Leelee said, it sucks that the slip ups show quicker on the scale than all the hard work!

Oh, I have the same problem with the night time munchies!  I found these snacks called MRs. Freshley's that are pretty tastey but have lots of fiber so they "score" well on CC...b+.  I usually have one of those and a cup of tea at night.

it was my husband's 40th birthday so I told him he could go eat wherever he wanted so he picks mexican. I tried to be good I was just going to have chips and salsa and he gave me the look like he felt bad he didn't pick a better place to eat sooooooo I ordered chicken fajitas. I only ate one and a half and with just chicken and onions on it but I still feel awful. If that wasn't bad enough they bring him this huge apple carmel ice cream desert for his b-day and I had 3 bites then I poured water all over it when he was done so I couldn't eat it oh yeah great tip there if you find yourself saying you are done eating and u are full and everybody else at the table is still eating to keep from picking at the food still on your plate dump something on it like catsup lol or salt  so you won't be temped :) Oh well tomorrow is a new day and hubby works all day so I will be on the treadmill and do some yoga most of the day. Have a good week everyone.

Cool

Thanks Jodi and Leelee for the words of encouragement.  From 260 on Friday, I went to 257 on Saturday, 253 on Sunday, and was 251 this morning, so most of the gain was water from too much salt.  But boy did it scare me.

Justluckie good job of eating right at the mexican restaurant.  The chips and salsa would have been enough to do me in.  I LOVE them.  And I know the salsa is good for you but the chips, not so much.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Gracie

Coolgracie.. good for hanging in there.. amazing that awful sodium.. what it does to the cells, eh....

just wanted to check in here... I am now down to 200, a loss of 5 total from start weight.. back on March 24.... i feel so grateful.. it has been steady, too, no ups and downs.. also a goal that I had reached for... reached my firts goal of NO BLOOD PRESSURE meds, which I knwo many of you know, but I think bears repeating here.. for myself if noone else... started my week 6 of P90x program... second week of double workouts... last week went well... my BB coach is saying that P()X isn't the best thing for weight loss... but Iam committed at this point... I love feeling the strength and seeing my body change somuch... I don't care sodesperately necessarily about the number on the scale... the inches really count (down 5 and 3/4 inches all over now) ... and the feeling of well being and strength and the way this program forces me to view food as fuel... not as a lover, or an emotional out... that's what's best... so I am doing great today... my 6th straight day of CALM and happiness... YES!

Bonnie, congratulations on reaching your second goal of 200, and for your 6th day of calm and happiness.  I have an appointment with my doctor at the end of the week and am hoping I can get the BP meds lessened if not stopped all together.  You have such a great attitude toward this process.

Gracie

Hi everyone,

Gracie - glad to hear the scale has gone back in the right direction.  Sodium/water gain can really affect the scale; it's amazing.

Bonnie, congrats on the weight loss and even more so on the improved health; fantastic!

justluckie - only 3 bites of desert is a great accomplishment.  Good for you!

Good Night!

Leelee

hi all. and welcome to the newbies. look forward to chatting with you all. this is a great group. sorry I haven't been around much lately. trying to get things lined out for hubby's knee surgery. they have set the date for june 14. he is still apprehensive, but is in much pain now so is ready to do it. I just hope that he can handle this. he has never had to be in hosp. for anything, and is very scared. yes even 60 yr olds get scared. he is so afraid of being put under for this. hopefully this one goes well and then he has the other one done when he gets over this one.  I have been swimming alot the last 2 weeks. hoping to see the scale go down. it has went down a little. I have seen 211 for two mornings in a row and was seeing 212-215 off and on and sometimes 211.  I have done 50 laps in the pool for the past 2 days. plus doing walking at home 2 miles last night and one mile today. I spent about 2 1/2 hrs each day in the pool the past 2 days. burn calories about 1200 or so. freestyle moderate swimming is about 660 calories an hour. my laps take about an hour and a half or so.  I will not win any races, but the only race I want to win is the one to burn the calories.  hubby got in the pool with me today to try to strengthen muscles in legs some. I was proud he did. he hates to go in when anyone else is there besides us. luckily today the people that were there were pretty cool. these pools are not supervised  so there is no one watching what is going on.  your are on your honor system. some peoples honor is not very good these days though. sorry to say.  hope you all are doing  well this week. will check in again soon.......penny

Yeah I know the chips were bad but they were so good lol. At least my plate didn't look like my husband's with tacos and enchiladas lol. Anyway I really have to kick things into overdrive now I just found out we are finally moving to FL in just a couple months and meeting my husband's super cool extended family and we are all going to Disney World sooooo I want to fit on the rides with my daughter. It is going to be rough because I am nursing a cold so here I am it after midnight and I can't sleep because I am sick which means I will be tired tomorrow and have to force myself to exercise just like I did today...sigh. I ate ok today I made home made pizza with just a touch of mozzarella cheese and only had 2 small pieces spaced out to make sure I was still hungry other than that just had my protein shake and a dish of healthy cereal. I can do this I just know I can

hello, hoping everyone is okay! very positive regarding diet, feeling healthier, wt coming slowly down:)

yippee I weighed myself yesterday and I had lost 10 lbs and then I peeked again today and was down 2 more pounds and I can finally see a calf muscle seems all my hard work is paying off. Hope everyone is having a great week.

Laughing

Lol, justluckie...the same thing happened to me.  I was shaving my legs a few weeks ago and there were all these extra curves and bumps to shave over.  I actually have some muscle definition now!

I had a hard week last week which I probably why I didn't post much.  I was pmsing and not exercising.  I ate well but just was in a funk.  It was funny, I saw someone jogging yesterday and I actually sighed just because I missed it.  Who would have thought I would EVER miss exercise!

So first thing this morning I hopped on the treadmill and got a good 40 minute jog in...burned 500 calories and went 5K.

It's been so hectic lately...school is almost over and the teachers are craming all these activities in at the last minute.  Plus my son was having some health issues but after a visit to the cardiologist yesterday he's gotten a clean bill of health.  THank goodness!  Yesterday was my parents anniversary, saturday is hubby's birthday and sunday is father's day, then next week is the last week of school and I'm in charge of the 1st grade pizza party.

I just have to remember that when I'm crazy busy and stressed I HAVE TO MAKE TIME TO EXERCISE, it is the only thing that really helps defuse the anxiety.

Penny, you're a fish!  Shark! Dolphin!  I'm envious.  I can't swim very well.  Certainly not laps!  Go girl!

KA, slow and steady wins the race.  Keep going girl and don't give up!

Bonnie, CONGRATS on hitting 200!  Onderland watch out!  Hot Mama Coming!!!!  Also, didn't you mention MSM a while back?  I bought some but it dosen't say on the bottle how much to take, duh?

Gracie, glad to hear the water weight is gone...I bet you'll be below 250 before you know it!

Well, I've got a sink full of dished (from last night) that I have to do.  And I've gotta leave for my little ones last speech therapy appointment of the year soon.  Have a great day gang! - Jodi

Coolhey everyone... so great that you are all here... I am so proud of ll of you and so thankful for your motivating force in my life!!!!

Jodi.. so glad you are back.. it IS important to tke some rest during the flow.. and since there is so little of the time one needs to minimize stress when you raising the little ones, and keeping the family going, well... sometimes you just have to sit... NOW YOU are feeling better... then the exercise is critical for stress reduction... as for the MSM... awesome ... I take 3 tabs/a day with food... about 3,000... 2 is fine... depending on age, need and weight, of course... nothing has helped my inflammation issues more than MSM... (also critical for heart health.. daily omega 3 (NOT 6)...FISH OIL)  that combo... WOW... I also do major B's (especially during PMDD weeks) and a single vitamin D... as 90 percent of ALL Americans have vit D deficiency.. also get in the sun for at least 15 min a day...

SATURDAY is graduation ---and PHOTOS... I am not anywhere near where I wishd to be for those, but it doesn't matter, I am so much better... feel strong and centered... BUT I PROMISE TO POST A PIX OF ME and golden son at graduation ... just to prove that I am not afraid to be SEEN...

I am in my 6th week of P90x program ..90 days in all... second week of double workouts (3 extra cardio a week)... and I feel great... its very tough... but I ALWAYS feel better after... I AM ALSO IN MY 8th DAY OF SERENITY in a ROW.. somewhat of a miracle, I would say...

Love you guys.. busy busy busy today, tomorrow and SAT... xo Bonnie

lucky u Jodi I can't jog anymore it messed up my knee and foot...sigh everytime I am on the treadmill I so think well maybe if I just run a little it would be ok this time...but I know better soooooo walking it is but I have the coolest weight gloves and I box as I walk so it has really increased my burn. Man yesterday was a bad day all I wanted to do was EAT!!! Today I am back to normal thank goodness food is not on my mind at all whew. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Is it possible to eat 1,100 calories a day and not lose?  I'm doing it.  I went all of January and February without losing a pound but when I did start to lose again I lost 10 lbs. fairly quickly.  Now I've been stuck again since the end of March.  I upped my exercise, cut to 1,100 calories a day, have tried upping my calories a bit on the weekend when I'm more active.  Nothing.  I have 100 lbs to lose yet so it's not like I'm on my last 10 lbs.  I'm very frustrated.

Katie, your body is in starvation mode!  CC says women should NOT go under 1200 cals per day because that will put you into starvation mode and you will not lose weight.  Please, up your calories!  I lost 40lbs eating 1600-1700 a day when I started CC a year ago.  Now I try to stay between 1400-1500 and I'm still losing.

I'm proud to say that I'm living proof that slow and steady wins the race!  2 years ago I weighed over 250lbs...now I'm 190 and I'm so proud that I did it the right way this time.  Eat a little less, move a little more...it all adds up!

Hi everyone,

I'm glad it is Friday.  It's been a very stressful week at work.  My Dept. was down 2 people, plus we had a big project to do.  I'm proud to say, I stuck to my food plan even though I was ready to scream, LOL.  I did give in at one point and asked a co-worker to pick me up chocolate covered grahm cracker cookies at Starbucks (love them:), but believe it or not turned out they didn't have them!!!

Justluckie - congrats on the weight loss!!

Penny - Good to see you!  Good for you with the swimming.  I've heard it's excellent cardio.

Bonnie - have fun at the graduation!

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

leelee

Katie.  don't cut back on the calories. I am not sure of your weight, but when I had over 100 lbs to lose ( at 280 or so) I would stick with 2000 calorie diet with about 500 defecit, walking say 1-3 miles as I built up then also pilates. sometimes I would go 2 weeks, 3 without any loss at all, then all of the sudden 5 or 10 lbs. that is how it happens.I had alot to lose/ we all want it to come off in a steady fashion, but the reaility is that it doesn't. keep your own journal in a notebook so that you can look at every day. you will find that in a month the lbs are going down even if you don't see much loss for 2 weeks or more. if you drop your calories, you are going to be hungry, not have energy for exercise and set yourself up to fail. feed your body, take care of it and do exercise. it is very important. the weight will come off, you just have to be patient and consistent.  I lost around55 lbs between feb, and sept of 08. 15 before that 15 lbs. haven't lost a lb hardly since but have lost inches. have you taken your measurements? do you see that your clothes are fitting more lose. sometimes the inches come off instead of pounds. just hang in there. you will do it. be persistent... don't give up.

Hello to all my old friends and to the new friends that have joined since I stopped posting.

A lot has happened since I was last here. My grandson is living with us all the time now. D

DH has gotten a job but has also been diagnosed with a liver disease so prayers would be appreciated.  I have gained all that I lost from stress eating and want to try to ease back into a healthier lifestyle.  DH has lost almost 100 pounds and I am very thankful since that improves his liver problems hopefully.

I will try to read over the thread to get updated but, honestly don't know that I will have the time to read it all. There was a lot of time and a lot of posts between then and now!

How is Barbara? I have thought of her and all of you often.

I have also been ChaCha'ing for some extra money and that takes up a lot of time.

I hope all is well for everyone here and I will try to read and post more often. It is good to have accountability!

Karen
