mrssoersdal-Forget about it and move on. I have the same problem around here. We have five adults living in our house and some of them are always bring home "evil" food. I think it was last week that I got into the pizza and ate three pieces.

You did good to eat less than normal. You did the right thing by trying to eat "Healthy" for the rest of the day. Many people on this list have a time to "Cheat" or a "Cheat day"and still loose weight. All you can do is keep trying.

Lora

Thanks.  I actually woke up this morning a half a pound lighter so I guess my salads-only rest of the day and my long walk took care of the pizza.  Thank goodness!

That's a good idea, to have a cheat time or day.  Saturday mornings seem to be hardest for me.  My husband, when he's not on a business trip, always wants Ihop on Saturday mornings.  My brother always gets something horrible for breakfast.  Saturday night we always go out somewhere to eat but it's easier because we always go somewhere with really fantastic Caesar salads.

I have cheat times.  Meaning, if I need sweet I eat sweet, then I make myself exercise that amount away.  Like if I eat a serving of chocolate chip cookies (2 for 150 calories) then I go on activities and see what exercise I could do to work it off.  Im getting to know the calories burned by some exercises so I dont always have to look.

Hi Everybody,

I need to lose around 90 pounds.  I weight 225.  I start this calorie counting tomorrow.  I'm on the website trying to figure my way around here.

Hi, Kedi!

I'm still trying to find my way around, too.  I officially joined the site back in March or something but visited it probably three times before just recently.  I need something to keep me motivated through the weekends! My achilles heel!

I have around 90 pounds to lose myself.  I weigh approximately 260, but I'm also 5'10" and very large boned (I have hands bigger than Arnold Schwarzenegger No Joke! I checked at a Planet Hollywood!), so I'd be pretty thin at 170!

HI Kedi,

This site is full of people willing to help.  I started in May and have lost about 1 lb a week on average.  Im 5'4" and weigh about 240 and my long term goal is 131.

My advise to to look around then use the resources available.  The forums are a great help to me.  and the logging of food really helps keep me honest and motivated.

I hope you find what you need and if you have any questions feel free to pm me.

~Laurie

Welcome New Folks!

We're here to support and encourage each other. So hang in there!

I've just returned after camping this weekend. The rains may have dampened the grounds, but not our spirits! Took bags of fruits and veggies from the farmers market along the route, and had those while others snacked on junk. Did very well, except for Sunday Brunch....anything 'buffet" style is deadly for me!

But here I am, Monday morning, back into my routine of logging my planned meals to check calorie and nutrition levels! Was't up to walking this AM, but plan to later in the day, around the Park near where I go to my meeting after dinner.

Have a great day, all!

Hi everybody!!!! I've posted this on another thread, but I'd like to share it with you all too.

My Lifestyle and My Supper Last Night
Jumbo or regular shrimp, help me choose.
When I log it in, it is not good news.
I eat it battered and fried, not just grilled,
When I hop on the scale I will not be thrilled.

I ate clam chowder and chicken and pork,
Then threw in the shrimp, and I feel like a dork.
Corn and green beans, lots of broccoli too,
I ended with sherbet - Oh what will I do?

It wasn't too bad, I could have done worse,
I still ate too much, it makes me  curse.
I need to leave fried shrimp and sherbet behind,
Then I know I'll lose weight and have peace of mind.

I left out the bread and potatoes too.
I said to myself, "would they be good for you?"
I said, "No Ma'am, they certainly won't,
So all I can say to you now is Don't!"

Have lean protein and veggies and fruit every day,
And a serving of whole grains along the way.
Eat whole grains and nuts, (and seeds are good food),
So you'll be a healthier gal or dude.

Drink lots of water and even green tea.
I do, and it makes me a healthier me.
I drink 16 glasses of water each day,
And 4 of green tea, it's healthy too they say.

That is my lifestyle in a nutshell,
On the fattening foods, my mind doesn't dwell.
I think of what's healthy to put in my mouth,
I'll continue to see my weight heading south.

I wish for you the very best.
It's your own decision, but it's not a contest.
No one can force their ways upon you,
You need to decide for yourself what to do.
Pam- WOW! you are talented. I don't think I could ever come up with something like that.

Let me ask everyone a question (sorry if this is gross) I ate good this weekend lots of water and last night I took a stool softner because I could not use the restroom. Well this morning I was up 1.8lbs. Do you think it was the pill? Maybe it has me bloated? I was just wondering what ya'll thought.

First, let me ask, how often do you weigh? You can vary as much as 3-5 lbs per day due to water gain, bloating, constipation etc. So don't be too distressed over 1.8 lbs.

I make myself weigh once per week, but only really look at the month's total to judge where I'm at.

Thanks, Tina, I used to write songs, so it came pretty easily.

Good job on the weight loss humorpam. I like the poem. Maybe you can put it to music and we can sing and dance!

Welcome kedi2 Hope you stay and join in. Let us know how we can help.

Welcome back krismasself missed you this weekend.

Trapp sorry I can't help you. I don't know the answer to that question. You could give it a few days and see. I would guess you are correct and it is bloating.

I am with krismasself I only weight once a week but that is what works for me. I bought a doctors scale a few years ago and I know it is acurate. You can get on some scales and they weight you several different weights five minutes apart.

I wish I could stick to that 5lb rule but unfortunately I just went wild and didn't care most of  the time. I just pigged out most of the time. Now I just concentrate on loosing 5lb at a time.

I'm starting to really hate food. Unless I'm eating crap, I can't seem to get over 1100 calories, which is ridiculous and bad for me and I'm aggravated. I hit 1188 yesterday, which is better than normal (yay tuna fish!!).

Ok, so I know people here have made suggestions to help with this kind of thing before, but I'm being lazy. Does anyone have any suggestions on something that I can grab that's good for me and doesn't have 10 calories in it???

I'm finding that by the time I get home, I still have close to 600 calories left and that's if I only want to hit 1200. AND I'm starting to plateau, so I'm thinking I need to raise my cals to about 1400 to 1500 and start exercising (*gag*) to try to boost my metabolism.

2nd issue: Between school and work, I have zero time to do anything anymore. Yay stress. Now what? Where do I find time to exercise on a regular basis if I'm not home until 10 and I leave for work before 7. I need time to sleep. =(

Rebepi -

I have found that I really like the Nabisco 100 calorie snack packs.  You can get Oreos or Cheeze-Its and they have 100 calories already measured out in a bag.  I also like the mini Fig Newtons (130 calories).  Breakstones cottage doubles (130 calories) cottage cheese and a fruit topping are also good.  Reduced fat peanut butter (190 calories for 2 tbsp) and an apple also make a great snack and give you some protien.  I am a morning exerciser as well.  I get up at 5:30 and try to do 30 minutes and then get my son and I ready and out the door by 7.  Good luck and keep it up.  You will find what works for you.

Rebepi -

I too sometimes have difficulty getting over 1200...and then some days, I'm way over! So I take an average for the week.

Like mmomabear, I find I have to make walking (it's free and can be done anywhere) a priority, even if it means getting up earlier! So today I walked at the Mall before going into the office. I was a few minutes late, but the walking is my priority! I'll make up the time somehow (though I really don't need to...not that busy here). How about adding things like...parking farther away, taking stairs instead of elevators, etc?? That can add up as exercise too, and it's sure healthier for all of us!

I think being at or under is honestly slowing down my weight loss, so I'm going to try those 100 calorie packs and start adding in cottage cheese here and there and I don't know what else. If I could make myself get up at 5:30 to exercise, I would...

Getting up early requires going to bed early which means .. not having a life.. ever. =)  I'll have to try something though. I know I need to start exercising, but then that lowers my calories even further..

Dieting is difficult.

Yes it is!  OK, so start by NOT thinking DIET!! That's a nasty 4-letter word. Think Healthy!!

And as for "having a life"... remember that healthy living allows you to have that life! Please realize I'm not trying to give you a hard time here...I too need my sleep and have a busy life. I just know that my life seems to work more smoothly when I have my priorities set right.

No time for exercise means finding times and ways to "sneak it in" Sit at a desk all day?...try squeezing those butt muscles to lift yourself a couple of inches from the seat. Stretch those legs and flex those ankles. See if you can reach your arms around the back of the chair and touch fingers. Standing in line at the grocery store?....reach over the handle and see if you can touch the front of the cart; bend that knee and try not to kick the lady in line behind you! Lots of little moves add up to exeercising!

Good luck! I know you can do it, and soon you'll overcome that plateau!

No worries. If I didn't want advice and a little kick in the butt every once in a while, I wouldn't post here. =)

I'll start working my schedule a little so I can try to fit a little exercise in when I can. Except for Mondays. I hate mondays and they're my longest day.

Reb... I'm kinda a fitness nut... I will tell you once I started exercising for real... I miss it big time if I skip a few days...

That being said... TONS of calories... easy to eat... and don't have to feel overly guilty about being "bad"... nuts... TONS of calories even in a little tiny bit... they won't stuff you, and it's good fat.
