I'd like to join too! I weigh 220 and am 5'9''. After dinner grazing and not working out enough are my problems. I would like to weigh 145 but my first goal is 199 by August 31. I have been off and on this site for about a year...but for the last two weeks I have been getting serious about logging calories and increasing activity. I weighed this AM and am -2 lbs!!! YEAH
This thread is great ... I love the dinner suggestions and the snack ideas. I will definitely try them.
How often do you all weigh in? Can anyone suggest a good scale thats not too expensive? Are digital better?

right now i'm doing weight watchers at work, which is nice and convienient. The leader comes in to the office once a week for a weigh in and short meeting. so i weigh in officially once a week, but i do have my own weight watchers scale (available at Bed Bath and Beyond) at home, i weigh myself at home a couple of times a week just for curiosity's sake.
hope this helps Val, and welcome!!!

sorry about the double post! argh!
Hi Val! Welcome Aboard. Congratulations on your 2 pound loss. That's great!
If you try any of the dinner ideas be sure and come back and tell us what you think of them.
We don't weigh a certain time of the week. Just follow whatever schedule works best for you. We generally chat daily.
I don't like digital scales as well. Mine is the old kind with a regular dial (or face, whatever you call it). I have a health-o-meter with a HUGE dial and it is very consistent. It is always 8 pounds under the doctor's scale, but like I said, it's consistent, so that's OK.

I would like to join too. I have been on this site for awhile and I have not been taking it seriously but I am going to start. I started in Feb at 213 now I am at 214.5 so not to good. I'm 5'2" I would like to be under 200 by the end of Sept. I think if I stick to it it should be doable.
That sounds like a good initial goal, Trapp! There's tons of support
here, and I hope you can find what you need to take it more seriously.
Logging my calories every day has really helped me learn what I'm
taking in to my body, and already taught me some lifelong lessons about
how dense various foods are. Let us know if you need any help, and good
luck!
Hi everyone. I would like to welcome everyone new and just add my congrats to all who have been trying so hard. I am afriad to weigh myself because if I am not doing will , I am afraid i will mess up my weekend so I will weigh one Monday. I feel I am finally sticking with it with all your help. I look at what i have logged and if I am pick the correct items I should do will. If I don't blow it on the weekend. I guess you can tell my weekends are the hardest. Thanks for letting me join this group.

Hey Everyone. I'm Leo. I'm not new to this site, but new to the forums. I've been using these calorie counting tools for a while to keep track of my eating, however I haven't exactly been religious about them either haha. I'm 6'1, and right around 205 pounds. Uh... Before last summer (Last year), I weighed about 250 pounds. Somehow I managed to get from that to a low of 190 in just a few months. I figured I was doing so well I would have any trouble getting to my goal of around 170 but once school started back up.. and stress and grades.. I got right back into my old habits. I'm starting college at the end of september. It's a crazy school with a lot of partying and hot weather, so I'd like to be comfortable with my shirt off, which is hard with the big old beer gut I have right now. I've pretty just been eating a lot less, abstaining from sugary drinks, and doing some calisthenics and taking advantage of the fact that my larger weight allows pushups to be more effective for the moment. Anyway, I'd appreciate any tips you guys could give about good exercise, and staving off food cravings and I'll try to be more active in the forums if I remember haha. Good to luck to everyone else trying to lose weight.

Hi guys...I'm 5'4, 37, and weigh 226 (started at 245). My goal weight is 145 by September 2008. -christina
I was wondering if I could join you as well. I started out at 320 in January, and am now down to 240 (in just 6 months!). My goal is to get to 160 or so, which would be less than I weighed when I graduated from high school. I'm 32 now.
I'd like to join this also if possible...I am just getting ready to start the journey...reading lots on how to take the weight off safe, steady and for good. I just turned 35 and want my year 36 to start out much healthier...I am at 255lbs and want to get down to 150. I'm hoping to beable to stay steady and lose a couple pounds a week hopefully being at my goal in one year. I need all the support and encouragement that I can get and would love to set up "chat sessions" thru instant messenger if anyone is interested.
Thanks,
Kim
Thanks,
Kim
Hi there how are you doing. My name is Aimee and i weigh 242 and im 5'4. my goal is 150 buy the end of june 08. Is it going good for you? I have lost 15 since jan 14 so i guess not bad. I was wondering on here were it says the calorie expenditure in the food log part what exactly does that mean? I burned 400 calories at curves today but it says total burned was 2897 because or "normal calorie expeniture".

Hi everybody :) My name is Kris. I am 35 years old. Weight 230 lbs Height 5'7" Large frame. I wear a size 20-22 pants and 2X in tops. I live in northern Alberta Canada with my commonlaw partner of 10 years. No kids but we have 5 furbabies (cats) together :) My goal weight says I'm supposed to be 143 lbs by December of 2008. I would be happy getting back to 160- 170 lbs and size 12-14. I am comfortable with my body at that weight but who knows how far or where this site will take me :) I joined CC yesterday after an appointment with my doctor. My blood pressure is still high and on meds has not come down, my cholesterol is high (but with meds that is coming down) and now, I am ....borderline diabetic :( Well one more point and it would be a diagnosis. I am so happy I found this site. I want to commit to using the calorie food log/activity log daily. Struggling with depression for many years I am also happy to have found that little ounce of motivation and self-love to try and do something about my health. I am sure I will enjoy it here as I have read so many encouraging posts and know that I am not alone. I have been and am an active member of scrabble forums and I love chatting with people about everything and anything :) I hope you will see a lot more of me...or a lot less (weight-wise speaking) :D
I would like to join too. I am 27 and have about 150 lbs to lose.

I'm really frustrated with my scale right now. REALLY frustrated. Wednesday it says I weighed 259. Thursday I weighed 257.5 and today I weighed 254.5. That is not possible. You can't lose 4.5 pounds in 2 days.
My boyfriend says my scale is 7 lbs heavy. (what a jump to my goal that would be if it were true).
I think I'm going to go out and buy a new scale this weekend and just stick with whatever it tells me I weight and work from there.
This ever happen to anyone???

Rebepi - yeah, that happens to me all the time. Are you weighing
yourself at the same time each day? I gain 4 pounds of water weight
throughout the day, so I will weigh 251 in the morning and 255 at
night. I do advise getting a new scale and going from whatever that
says, though, like you said.
It's frustrating when I go from my scale and check my weight at other peoples' houses, and theirs say less, and I come home and mine says more. But, mine is being consistent, anyway. Check this on yours: weigh yourself, then pick up something fairly heavy (a bag of sugar, etc.) and weigh yourself holding that. Then weigh yourself normally again. Did the numbers do what they should? If so, it's being pretty consistent, but if not, you probably need a new one.
