Actually I just did some research online and the city website says that the lake where I walk has a mile concrete trail, last night we walked around it 2 times and the third lap we cut through the middle because it was getting too dark so 2.6 miles is about right.
LOL...trapp! I'm picturing you walking on water across the middle of a lake!!!
No I guess I should have clarified the trail runs beside the lake not around it. That is too funny.
Hi !! I would love to join your support group.  Im 5'4 and just hit 217 so I would love to have someone to help and someone to help me :)
Hi everyone, room for one more person. I am 5'8" and 406lbs. I am making to day the first day of a new beginning. I hate to work out, and am getting to a point wher if I don't then mobility will become limited. I have to, and want to be healthy. My ultimate goal is 175-190. Immediately though I am focused on the first 60lbs. I want to be more aggressive than what is being suggested, any advice out there would be appreciated. I am with a company that would like to utilize me and my skills, however my health is a factor. They do not mind my weight, only my appearance of professionalism. I am noticing my limitations, and want to excel further. They siad they are there for me, whatever I need. There is a convention in California that I would like to be part of. It means being on my feet for about 10-12 hours, which I can not do right now. So, I have until Feb. to lose enough weight to be able to stand for a long period. I think that comes to about 50-75 lbs. I still have alot of muscle, which helps, but I need to be healthy no matter what. I also have 4 kids, that I want to enjoy 13, 11, 9, and 3 in Oct. I can't do what I have done, or I will not exist to see them graduate, go to college, or get married and have their own children. I need people to hold me accountable! Will you guys help me?
pedeisme: welcome!!!!  Everyone here is really good at giving motivation and tips. You'll find a great support group here. =)

I lost another pound this morning!!  I've hit 7.5 pounds lost for the month. Which is less than half of what I lost in August. It's probably good that I slowed down though, so maybe I should actually be happy about it.... maybe.

So, how's everyone's week going?

Rebepi, great loss! The loss may be slower, but it is a LOSS!! Celebrate by doing something nice for yourself!

Sara, Enjoy the time with your mom. I know I enjoyed my special time with my daughter(s)! Make it about the relationship, not about what to eat while away!

pedeisme, I salute you for having the desire to foster your career by recognizing your physical limitations and wanting to improve yourself. And good that your company is encouraging you! So often, the corporate world looks down on and/or neglects is over-sized employees!

I am hoping to join a gym this weekend. I had to take a day off of exercising yesterday cause my legs were sore. I am going to do 2 extra sets today to make up for it.

Welcome newbies!  This is a great place to get inspiration and give advice.

Congrats Rebepi on your success this month!  7.5 lbs is 30 sticks of butter!  You did fantastic and you must be so proud of yourself for not gaining 30 sticks of butter this month!

My birthday is on Monday and the whole weekend is taken up with various celebrations.  Wish me luck with healthy eating while on my various social engagements.

Undecided    Hello,

Babycakemom here. Is there still room at the inn? I am 5'3" and 218.0 lbs. I started out at 223 lbs. 6 wks ago. I am very discouraged. My friends here at work are exercises and dieting with me and they are loosing weight so fast. Of course I am the biggest and have the most to loose.

Also, I need some friends and some support.

Babycakemom

Hi everybody. I haven't been in here for a while, but I wanted to say Hi and congratulations to all of you for your hard work. It sounds like it's paying off great for you, Rebecca. Hi Mandy! Hi Joanna! Welcome Sherry! Hey Sue! How's it going Sarah! Welcome Pedeisme. (What do you like to be called?) I wish you all the best. I go down a few pounds, then up a few pounds, then down those pounds and an extra one or two, but then always back up again a pound or two. It gets frustrating. But actually, for a couple of weeks, I was very inconsistent with my healthy eating, so that is probably why my weight loss is inconsistent. Well, keep up the great work everybody, and keep up that great job of providing support for each other. Have a great day!

I am really yo yoing like you humorpam. Gain of 4lbs in a day then next day lose 1 lb. Next day gain 2 lbs. Then lose 3lbs next day. I don't know what causes this. I am not eating any additional sodium. I am just so frustrated. Also, I feel like I am starving all the time on a 1250cal diet.Yell

Sherry

Welcome Sherry!

To tone down that frustration, may I suggest you don't weigh yourself daily? Those fluctuations cause frustration which can easily lead to giving up! Don't give up! I get on the scale only once a week, and that's a chore for me. I used to weigh either a hundred times a day, or not for many months!

Have you used the tools on this website to determine how many calories you should be eating? My feeling is that 1250 may be to few, especially if you are exercising.  Starving can also lead to frustration  and/or binging.

Every person's body reacts differently to a weight loss program. Are there men in the group at work losing with you? They always lose faster because their metabolism is naturally higher.

Take it one day at a time!

Sue

Sue,

Thanks for the welcome! I have tried to not weigh daily. I am addicted to the scale. I weigh before and after work! As far as 1250 calories, that is the amount that this site told me to consume. I vigorously walk 1 mile two times a day in 15 min. I started walking when I quit smoking (Aug. 29th last cigarette).

The people in my weight loss group are all women ranging from 195lbs to 218lbs.

Is only losing 4lbs in 6 wks ok or am I doing something wrong. I suffer from high thyroid function, high blood pressure and high colesterol. Maybe I just can't lose weight.

Sherry

I guess you gotta get your highs somewhere....
Just kidding. I have low thyroid, so you could say I'm feeling a little low. I have high cholesterol also, but it has come down 30 points, so that's good.
I think 4 pounds in 6 weeks is good. It's the rate they recommend here.
Welcome everyone! There is alot of new people on here.

Babycakemom: 4lbs is good. Remember you want to lose and keep it off. That is the key. Alot of times people lose weight really fast and then gain it all right back.

Well I had a half day at work today. So me and my daughter got up and took my son to school and then walked 3 miles and I felt great. I need to do that more often. To bad I can't go in half a day everyday.

I agree, with working full time and having home life it is hard to find time to exercise.

Sherry

Sherry,

Addicted to the scale!! Boy, most of us can relate to that!! You must see Molly's Rants re:demonically possesed scales. You'll luagh off many calories reading it!!

Let's start a goup "scale-a holics Anonymous"...LOL!!!

Hi, I would love to join everybody.  My name is Kristi and this dieting stuff can be a hard thing to do when you have a husband and children that seem to be able to eat whatever they want and never gain a pound.  Anyhow I am 5 foot 3 and I currently weigh 236.  I started dieting back in january and my beginning weight was 257.  I strayed from my diet for several months and gained back to 243 and almost couldn't button my pants again.  So here I am dieting again.  I would love to get to at least 150.  I weighed that about 15 years ago and i looked great at that size.  So that is my goal.  CC says that my calorie intake should be about 1600 a day.  I have stuck to that all week but boy am I craving some onion rings.  AAAHHHHH, ok now I feel a little better.  I have only eaten about 551 calories for today.  Anyhow look forward to talking to everybody.
