Hi all!!  welcome Betsy and Kara!!

It was a good weekend, I did very well with eating!!

What are your Thanksgiving plans??  We are not traveling,, and people aren't coming here Frown  But I am planning on buying part of a turkey, doing some stuffing, cranberry relish and maybe smashed parsnips.  We will have a pumkin pie - I want to taste everything and will be watching my portions.

Im back at the gym this week after taking Saturday and Sunday off.  Good workout- I did 15 minutes of rowing and 10 minutes of treadmill at a incline of 6. I added weight training last week on Wed and Friday, starting slow and steady!

I hope that everyone is doing well, eating well, and.....get up and move!!  Kate

Oh Kate,

Your workout sounds wonderful...but I have been quite sick with a bad cold (I'd like to blame the flu shot I got, but that's not realistic) and haven't done any exercise since last Thursday. I'm just grateful to be able to come to the office and sit in front of the computer today! And that's about draining me......

This too shall pass, and then I'm off to the Mall to walk again!

We've been invited to my brothers for Thanksgiving dinner, and I'm bring the corn pudding. So here's my plan for the day:

  • get out for a walk in the morning to get the metabolism kick-started.
  • eat light for b'fast & lunch...if I skip those meals, I put myself in danger of overeating at dinner
  • I will picture my plate having 4 sections, so I can only have 4 selections from the huge variety of dishes being passed around the table. Keeping in mind that one of those selections might be dessert, that may limit my dinner selections to only 3, so I'll have to choose very carefully
  • I will concentrate on the people, not the food!

Hey Gang,

Just checking in, i know it's been i bit, i've been moving a bit slow.  I had a outpatient procedure done on the nerves of my back two weeks in a row that has set back my activity.  But i've still lost! down to 295!   Someone was mentioning being turned off by certain foods, this i can relate to!

Welcome to the new gals and remember you can and will do this for yourself because you deserve it.  Kiss

krismasself, great plan you have for turkey day!

Does everyone else have their turkey game plan ready?

Have a great day everyone!

hi Gang!!  I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!!  You are my online family and my rock, I will be giving thanks for you all!!  Knowing that you are checking in is such a comfort!!

Here is an idea; How about the  size of the plate???  Maybe I will try a smaller plate, for the look of abundance and feasting.  I think that when I make my cranberry relish I will use honey, decrease the white sugar and maybe use a little Splenda.  The pie......oh my, not going to have pecan because it is just too over the top, but yes on the pumkin!!  No whipped cream, which isn't super important to my taste!  Really, when it comes right down to it - its the turkey, stuffing and cranberry relish that makes the perfect bite!!!!

Happy Black Friday Everyone!!!  I am here avoiding the crowd, but may go to Micheals - the craft store later in the day.

I ate 2560 calories when all was said and done yesterday.  I burned just under that.  YES I did go and work out first thing in the morning, something for which I am very proud (sticks out chestand raises arms in a strongman pose)  I had the sweet potatoes, the pie, the cranberry relish (minus the splenda, we decided that we could it it with full on sugar) and the dark meat - my favorite.  It was a wonderful holiday, I loved making that "Full ON' meal and Boy!! did that Turkey look like it came out of a magazine!!!  That is untill I tried to get it out of the roaster.....It fell apart!!! Wings and legs flying everywhere. what a mess. nothing on the floor, mind, but it wasn't a "Rockwell moment" at the table.  I wish I had taken a picture of it in the roaster!!!

I hope all ya'all had a good Thanksgiving, and that you are still enjoying the afterglow!!!

Kate--way to go!!!! proud of you for working out first thing in the am.  Good save on the gobbler for dinner!

I spent my black friday helping my husband work on our old car we are fixing up, in my parents very cold garage.  Think i burned calories just trying to stay warm!! ha!, going back there again on Saturday, tomorrow.

Anybody have ideas how to deal with a parent that likes to push the food all the time, most everytime you come to visit.   It has gotten to the point that she hands us a bag of cookies everytime we are out there!  They either get fed to the farm dog, (if we don't trust ourselves to leave them alone when we get them home)or given to co workers.   Today it was a bag of cookies, jar of turkey soup, container of cottage cheese jello salad. The last one she knows is my fav...sigh...help!  I know why she is doing it, it is how she shows her love to people....

Hello Everyone,

Sorry I havent been around much. its been very busy with turkey day and having hubby and the kids home . I did eat more on turkey day but did not go over board like I would of in the past and I will be working out for an hour today to work it off.

Sounds like everyone is doing well and having a great holiday weekend. Keep up the good eating and keep moving everyone!

amk160-I was just wondering if made you could ask your mother to experiment with low cal food recipes? She can still show how much she loves you and it may benefit you too. or just keep fattening up the friends and farm dog. Lol !

Lora

amk160, that idea of showing love thru food is a natural thought process, and you're not likely to change it. Even while trying to eat healthier myself, I am guilty of the same thought process! I do like Lora's suggestion though, and I know my daughter focuses on that too.

Still feeling a bit lousy from the sinus infection. Now add to that a poor weigh-in this AM....ARRGGHH!!

Sue, you need to kick that sinus thing!!! you poor thing!!  Do not count your weigh in, you are sick and probably holding extra water.

Its great to hear from you all on this thread,  Its true that so many of us were raised on food love!!I know I was!!  I think that it is a built in survival thing - hard wired into our systems.

Get up and move!!!!

Good morning everybody! How is everybody doing? What piece of advice would you give to each other today? I'll start....

Today is a new day to start fresh on your program. Why wait for another day when you can start today?
Hi, all.  Been ages since I have been online here....  Pam, I agree.  I will start again today.  I was convinced earlier this year that I would be able to wear something "pretty" to attend the students' prom this year, and, dammit, I will!  :)
Jessica - no matter what you weigh, you will be able to wear something pretty, because, frankly, you are very pretty. So I encourage you to get on track because you want to lose and be healthier, but know that no matter what you are pretty.

Congratulations Michelle! That is awesome!

OK, so I've had a cold and blocked sinuses for 11 days...time to get past it! Doing nothing but feel sorry for myself hasn't improved it, so it's time to get up and move again.

So off to the Mall before work for a 35 min walk around (little slow on the pace, but it'll build again) and recommitting to a 1400 calorie healthy food plan daily. Gee, I feel better already!

Great advice Pam! Thanks

CONGRATS Michelle on your weight loss that is so wonderful!!!

Sue I feel for you, I hope you will feel better soon. I know its no fun to be sick and when you are, the last thing you want to do is work out! hang in there, soon you will feel better.

Well because I did eat a little well threw the turkey weekend I desided to keep my calorie intake at 800 for today and tomorrow and workout for an hour both days and with just yesterday it has showed I'm at 187 and my last weigh in was 186 so I'm happy I didnt blow it to bad. Have a great week everyone and keep up the great work!
I have gained 19 pounds over the last two months, so I am not pleased. I started back on track on my program yesterday, and have stuck to it, so I am proud of myself. I guess I just threw health out the window for a couple of months. I don't advise doing that.
