I went to college with a guy from Littleton, so I was going to ask if you knew him.
I'm from Western Ma. Right near Amherst and Northampton. 20 Minutes north of Springfield. that area.
Sooo, I lost 1 pound this week. I have been doing really good the past few weeks eating new food I thought I'd never put past these lips and thought my sister was wacko and went over the deep end for eating them. I now find myself eating bulgur and tofu!!!! when my Sister found out she about laid an elephant!! lol and the worst part is I only lose ONE stinking pound a week!!!!! ok love that I'm losing I do! Buuuut why with all the work that I am putting into it I only get one pound a week? so not fair! now if DH were to try it he'd have lost 30 pounds!! I just know it! The turd! lol oh well.
I hope everyone is having a great week! and keep movin!
Down one pound this week, and I'm confident I'll break the 200 mark before the wedding.
This year I've challenged myself not to eat even one Christmas Cookie....so far, so good! But tonight is the Grandson's second birthday party, so I will allow myself one slice of pizza and one small piece of cake. Just fit it into my plan for the day!
I also miss potato chips with sour cream and onion dip. I think I really just miss the salt content.
Someone buy me a salt lick?? (hahahah)
Hi Learning2diet. That is a major accomplishment just learning to diet. Of course you can join us. Glad to have you. Feel free to get involved and make yourself at home. We are all rooting for you and will all be your friends!
I have found that being amongst successful people motiviates me to be successful in terms of weight loss.
I've been following a low-calorie plan but am having a horrible time staying with it for any longer than a few days. Over the summer, I had some success, then went camping and it all went down the tubes.
My weight loss plans are to lose at least 30 pounds (213 now) by June and to effortlessly incorporate healthy foods into my lifestyle and shun the bad stuff.
Hi rainforestgirl, glad you joined us!
When you've tried low-calorie plans before, how many were you eating? Maybe you're shooting too low. The key is to take baby steps that you can handle.
It IS really motivating here - you've found a great place for support. :-) Welcome!
I was following the Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) program (although not a member) and was eating 1200 - 1400 calories per day without being hungry and actually having a hard time getting it all in. I felt great, my energy was through the roof and my fiance noticed there was less of me when he hugged me (yay).
What I learned by following that eating plan was that my portion sizes were out of control. I also started using dessert plates so that the smaller portions looked proportionate to the plate.
I've recommitted as of yesterday and am happy to say I've got one clean day done.
Cool! My grandma has been in TOPS for 30 years or something. She loves it and has all kinds of friends there. :-)
My husband has done the same thing as your fiance - hugged me and then said "Wow, you're small!"
You sound like me. Since I've been on CC I've learned about portion sizes - I used to eat 3 servings of cereal at a time, for example (a common one!) Now I usually eat only the portion size listed on the package of anything, or I knowingly and thoughtfully eat more. Usually, if I eat one portion of something and am still hungry, instead of eating more of the same food, I seek out something different to eat. That takes more thought and time to prepare it, and that way it's more of a planned choice.
Water, water, water....gotta drink it to flush out those melted fat globules!!
I lost last week, not because I was especially careful of my food intake, but because I made darn sure I washed it all out!!
How is everyone doing today?
Welcome to all the new people!
Well I went to meet with the trainer on Sunday and she tested my body fat and it was 40% I could not believe it I knew it was going to be high but wow. Well at least it is clear to me now I really need to lose weight. I have been doing pretty good eating it is just the exercising it seems like I can never find the time.
I meet with her again on Saturday and then we will actually workout so I think it will help out that I have someone else beside me keeping tabs on me.
learning2diet--i can sympathize. i am also up and down a lot. i hope with support and continued work it'll stabilize--maybe you're building muscle with the exercise? that would be a good thing cause it would lower metabolism :)
myself, i kept track of what I ate when I went out to dinner the other night. all the things I never really paid attention to i logged and it was a sad sad thing to realize. a pat of butter, a breadstick, a soup, bread, a salad, a piece of meat, a potato...butter and sour cream. bleah. it was pretty sad. i gotta learn how to eat more responsibly.
i think i almost have to have a game plan for each and every restaurant so i don't have to think on the fly. also eating socially is a bad idea for me at this point. too much time left open for temptations...especially little nibbly things that are left around within reach like bread and bradsticks :(
My DH loves to cook also....and not lo-cal, lo-fat stuff either!! So I've learned the most important way to deal with that stuff...portion control!! Keep measuring cups and a food scale nearby. You'll be amazed how it helps!
Restaurant notes:
- If they're online, they may have nutrition info available, or at least a menu, so you can pre-plan your order.
- Simply ask to have the bread basket removed....I hate doing it, but I must!
- Always ask for ice water....sip between bites to fill you up quicker and thus be able to not clean your plate!
- When asked if you'd like to order dessert, say graciously"The dinner was so wonderful, I don't want to forget the pleasure of it by covering it with a "sweet" memory!"
