Weirdkitty: I weigh myself almost everyday. I like to keep myself in check on a daily basis or as a reminder to stick with it. I'm to anal retentive not to weigh myself almost everyday. haha.

Anyone else have a terrible craving for pizza right now?

PS: It is really hard to type with just your left hand, especially when you're right handed. This broken elbow crap is really annoying.  Haha.
Hi I am 52 and am 5'3' and weigh 272 can I join your group?
rebepi: I always crave pizza - that's probably why I am posting on a 200+ weight loss forum instead of a "its great to be slim" forum lol.

I weighed myself three times today, first i was 234lb, then up to 235lb and then down to 231lb (don't worry, I don't usually weigh myself that much, but i wanted to see how much dinner/ toilet/ water made a difference)
PS Hi lorabea, I've only just joined too. Its great to talk to people of a similar weight. Sometimes it can be discouraging looking at the other forums and reading someone say they are 130lb and feel fat and really want to lose 20lb more. Bah, i would kill to be 130lb... one day *sigh*
Thanks for the welcome weirdkitty, I need encouragement from others to keep motivated. It is hard to think of losing that 1 lb or 2lbs when the goal is in 100 lbs. I have a lot of health problems and would like help to get me moving. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Welcome lorabear - my suggestion is to start out small as to exercise. Whatever you can do right now is fine, and then build yourself up over time. As far as eating, I have a way of eating that is very healthy and works, and if you're interested, feel free to check out my profile.
Alright. I didn't read all 10 pages, as that could take awhile! I did read the first page though.

I'm 5'4, 214.

I guess this seemed really appealing because there are people here who know what it's like and it'd be great to have that kind of support network.

I guess it's difficult because I don't have a lot of people motivating me too much, and I do really well when I have that extra encouragement. Don't get me wrong. I'm very motivated but having someone who is going through it too? That would be awesome.

I have a few heavy set friends, and none of them seem too concerned about the health risks that go along with being that big. And I kind of ignored it too but I'm 20. I don't want to get diabetes or have a heart attack. I carry my weight somewhat well, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm not healthy and don't feel good about my body.

I commend everyone here for being so honest with themselves and others, as it isn't easy!! I think you're all super and am here to talk if anyone needs/wants to! :)
Welcome, Enigma!

We're all going through what you are. I'm your age too, and I see people around me having problems because of their weight all the time (my mother and her bad knees, etc.) I really don't want to have those problems when I'm older, and I certainly don't want to have health problems now. I want my future children to have a good example set for them, so they don't grow up feasting on snacks like I did.

I ignored my weight problem until last fall, though, when my body started acting weird. I would never talk about it, or even complain about my weight as many people do - I just tried to block it out and felt like "this is just the way I am". It's only now that I'm losing weight that I feel more comfortable discussing it, since I'm being proactive! It helps a lot to talk about it, and I hope you find that the forums help you too.
Hi Enigma

I'm 21 and really understand this fear of what could happen if I continue like this. My mum has had weight problems all her life, and I really don't want to be the same, I want to lose the weight, and then be healthy and slim, not a yoyo dieter. I see older people that are 300+lb and I know if I continued down this road that would be me one day, and then it would be even harder to lose weight.

Explore the site, there are some great tools (I'm quite new to the community too). And if you ever want to chat feel free to message me.
Welcome pu3w4w4, Im so glad you have join us! You will get lots of suppot here :)  Cool beans I got a twin ! :)

Sarah~
Welcome weirdkitty, lorabear, girl enigma we are so happy to have you here with us. You have found a great place for support!

Sarah~
Pam, thanks so much for your support, I weighed myself this morning and it went back down to 211 so thats a relief but I feel like I spent most of this week getting back to wear I already was! ugh but you right it I'm sure its water and then some. I took your advice and havent made bad choices I went to an outdoor food and fun block party lastnight with my family, Mom and Sis and I did really good nothing over the top, only tried free samples which was really nice, didnt have to spend $ but got a taste of some yummys and got a small coffee cooler my Mom got me. So I was very proud of myself.
Good job Sarah! I'm proud of you. Now don't you feel good about making good choices? Don't you get a warm fuzzy feeling?

I'm a little anxious about weighing in for one of my challenges tomorrow, because I've been unofficially weighing in every day, and instead of going down this week, so far it's gone up 5 pounds and stayed up for the last three days. Ugh! So, I am not looking forward to the official weighin. Then I weigh in on Sunday for another challenge. I'll let you all know what happens both days.
Pam hang in there dont lose hope! I'm sure its water too like myself and you may still lose some and if not thats ok too just stay on the right path and you will do fine  Sunday starts a new week so you can wipe the slate clean and start fresh! good luck!

Sarah~
breakfast ideas anyone???

for a while i was having 2 eggs scrambled everyday, but since I'm one of those people who gets up at the last second and rushes through the morning until i get to work i have switched to fruit lately. I'm starting to get sick of having the same thing all the time, Any ideas for portable breakfasts would be appreciated!

Thanks

How about any of these

? Toaster waffles topped with fruit spread or fruit flavored low-fat yogurt

? Fruit flavored low-fat yogurt and a tablespoon or two of your favorite

low-sugar cereal

? Breakfast smoothie?Combine 1 small banana, 1 cup skim milk,

1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon honey or sugar and 1 cup ice

cubes in a blender. Cover and blend until mixture looks smooth.

? Breakfast granola bar

? Mozzarella cheese sticks and fruit

? Bagel with peanut butter and jelly or low-fat cream cheese

? Fill a small plastic bag with your favorite cereal to munch on while

off to school or work. Select a cereal that comes in bite size pieces.

? Individual oatmeal packets

? Individual cottage cheese and fruit packets

? Scramble an egg and place on one half of a toasted English muffin. Top

with a slice of low fat cheese and you have an egg sandwich!
thank lora!

i don't think i'll get bored with breakfast for a very long time now!
I'm a little worried right now. I've already lost something like 11 pounds this month and 4 of them this week. I KNOW I'm eating enough calories (because in reality, I go over my calories sometimes). What could possibly be causing this???

P.s. My pants fell down yesterday. Not in public, thank God. But it was embaressing none-the-less.
rebepi

Have you ever been checked for diabetes? Sometimes that is a sign.

My average weight loss is 3lb a week, this week it was 4lb. I know the "usual" is 1-2lb, but when you have more weight to lose, it can go quickly at first. That's why people always say the last few pounds are hardest. I find the heavier you weigh, I more you lose... although sadly it doesn't last, and it will slow down as you get slimmer.

I say enjoy it while it lasts, I am :)

(edit- just like to add) - age is also involved, if you are younger, your metabolism is faster
