Weight Loss Buddies!

Quote  |  Reply

Hey All!

I've been talking to a few people on another topic and I decided that we needed to all get together on one topic and be weight loss buddies! Who's in?

Basically here you post your meal plan and exercize times. And also just chat with those who have the same goals as you do!

Hey again! =]

Well, I could start out by posting what my plans are. Since I haven't been on this diet for very long, I do not know how it will turn out yet, but we'll see =]

I want to stick to a 1500kcal/day diet. Mostly fruit/veggies, and water/milk only. That's the eating plan so far.

As far as exercise goes, I plan to do taekwondo 1 - 3 times a week, and hopefully get some use out of my gym membership. I like doing yoga, and they do that at the gym, so maybe some yoga just because I like it, and do some cardio/strength classes at the gym. It would be good to be able to get into a routine where I work out every other day.

And again my ultimate goal is to lose 110lb. But I've decided that small sub-goals is an easier way to not get discouraged by the ultimate goal, so for now, I hope to be down 22lb by january, which should be reasonable, right?

How about you, megs890, what are your meal and exercise plans? :)

I just got back from the gym!! But bad news: I haven't lost a pound. No. I've gained two pounds!! I'm so confused because I've been eating so well for the last week. Hm.

Today I had

Turkey Chilli and a Bagel (500 cals)

and then I had chicken, rice and corn...

I don't know how many cals that is :)

And then I spent a little over an hour at the gym!

I am so frustrated though :( But I know I need to give it more time. A week isn't enough to notice anything I guess... or is it and I'm just doomed?!?!

Megs890,

So I was working with a trainer for a little while last summer, and she basically told me that having 500 calories for breakfast was way too much.

Also, if you had chicken, rice and corn for lunch, that was probably another 500 calories right there.

If you add up your dinner, any sacks, and drinks that you might have had throughout the day, that would probably add up to about 1,800-2,000 calories.

Spending an hour at the gym is great but if you're consuming more calories than you're shedding at the gym and throughout the day, you won't lose any weight.

Also, losing weight is very dependent on what you do at the gym. Intervals are the best way to get the most out of your workout.

And if you're strength training, you're still losing fat but you're also putting on muscle so that could account for the extra pound or two..

Hope this helps..

Good luck! Smile

Hi Could I join you guys on the weight loss buddies?

I am trying to lose 25 pounds and am trying to stick to a 1200 calorie diet.  I am writing everything down and started walking on the treadmill again.  I also started doing P90X which is quite intense/difficult so it's a slow progress.

I just have to make sure that I don't eat when I am bored or when the kids drive me nuts.  I am definelty an emotional eater.

So far I had today is Special K, a quesadilla (with 2 small tortill shells), monterey jack and swiss cheese.  Oh, I also had a little bit of Doritoes while I was finishing walking on the treadmill.

I hope your day is much better.

Maria

Hm....

Well, the chicken, rice and corn was my dinner :)

And the bagel was my breakfast

and the turkey chili was my lunch :)

So I averaged about a 1000 cals yesterday. My deficit has been pretty substantial. Around 600-1000 every day.... That's why I am so confuzzled. (Yes, I made up that word. Haha.)

Today I had:

Breakfast: A bowl of rice flakes for breakfast (150 cals)

Lunch: Turkey Chilli .. again :) I love this stuff (220 cals)

haven't had dinner yet but I'm hoping to do a salad or something :)

I'm going to a concert tonight so I don't have time to work out but tomorrow it's back to the gym! And you're right, I've just been doing cardio really... because I'm so out of shape!! But I do need to do other things :) I'm hoping for a better weight loss this week!

MARIA! Welcome! So glad to have you :) Aren't those doritos so addicting? But yay for the treadmill! We're looking to lose the same amt of weight and we're on the same calorie diet! Yay! What are you doing for dinner? Also, is the P90X worth it? I've received mixed reviews on it :))

Megs- if you are only eating 1000 calories a day your body may hold onto fat because it goes into starvation mode. Women should eat at least 1200-1300 calories a day. Good luck!

I've tried to stay around 1200 cals a day :) Yesterday was definitaley not the norm. I guess usually when I'm done with Bfast and Lunch I've averaged about 500 calories and then it's whatever I eat for dinner. I should watch my calories closer :) Good idea. That might be the problem! I hope not though because I haven't been super hungry every day! Gah! Why can't I just lose weight and not have to do anything? Thehe. :)

Cecilia: how many cals do you average a day and how do you do it?

I wish that weight loss wasn't such a science! It's driving me nuts!

Id like in on this!   I'm trying to lose 10lbs. first, then another 10, then we'll see.  If I say "I have to lose 20lbs.", I'll never do it.  I'm using the food log on this site to keep track of everything I eat. I've decided on a 1,200 cal. diet initially, and will modify later if need be.

Just started yesterday and feel great today.  I put a big jug of water with lemon on my kitchen counter, and drank all of it.  Today, already down 2 lbs.  Yeah, yeah, it's water weight, but I like the little boost, and I like that it's flushing things out.

Here's what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: Bran flakes with skim milk & 1/2 banana.

Snack: Orange

Lunch: 7 sml. California rolls

Snack: 1 Quaker 100 cal. pack snack

Dinner: 2 c. Veggie & tuna casserole, lg. green salad, spritz of balsamic vin.

Dessert: 3 dark Hershey kisses.

Keeping things light and upping my fruit and veg really helps.

Sheri

It is the bagel and the rice that are going to hurt you the most hun.  I have lost 10lbs in 1 month just by eating stricktly "negative calorie" fruits and vegetables and lots of protein.  I switched from sugar to sweetener in my coffee and have noticed a huge improvement.  I am hoping if I keep it up I will be able to lose another 15lbs by christmas.

Hello all!  I'm in on being weight loss buddies!  I've been dieting and exercising for about 6 weeks now and I'm down about 15 pounds.  I have another 30 pounds to go and then I will be super happy!  I get on the treadmill every day and I walk and run.  I'm trying to work up to being able to run for 30 minutes straight.  Right now I run for 2 min, walk for 3.5 min and repeat.  I also do some weights.  I'm trying to stick to 1400 calories a day.  Here's what I ate today...

Breakfast: Fiber One Bar

Lunch: Romaine Salad w/ Vinaigrette and Black Bean Soup

Snack: 2 small apples

Dinner: Green Beans, Lean Cuisine

Snack: 28 almonds (1 serving!)

My question for you all is that after eating everything listed above, I am not hungry.  However I'm only at around 1,200 calories.  I'm finding I'm usually only around 1,000 - 1,200 calories a day.  Do I need to make myself eat higher calories just to get to the right calorie amount?  I don't want to hit a plateau like everyone is talking about, but I don't want to eat french fries just so I can get to my goal of 1400 calories.  It sounds counter productive.  Any advice is appreciative!

Hi mwallen,

I'm certainly not an expert on this, but I do think you are really short-changing your breakfast.  You should try to pick up a little more protein there, maybe an egg?  That would also help to keep you going to lunch.

You could also put some protein into your snacks, like a skim milk string cheese with the apple, or a little peanut butter?

Best of luck!

Sheri

Hey! You're right the Bagel and Rice did not help me!!

BUT GUESS WHAT?!?! I lost three pounds!! Woot Woot!!

Today I've been really horrible though :(

I haven't eaten anything! No breakfast! And now I am eating a cup of noodle. It's only 330 cals... but way way too many of them are from fat. I'm just really cold and cup of noodles is warming me up! And it's cheap! And we have a huge thing of them here at my office. Gr. I should only eat half huh? (Lots of talking to myself really :))

How is everyone else doing?

Hi Everyone,

I am newbie to the site and I am on Day 2. I am hoping to loose between 40-50 pounds, 1 pound at a time. I am going to the gym 3 times a week for about an hour - on treadmill and weights. I am hoping to work my way to keeping my calorie intake around 1200, but Day 1 it was 1425 and I am hoping for Day 2 to be around 1350 and then work my way down.

Breakfast: Raisin Bran with Skim Milk and Banana

Lunch: Weight Watchers Smart One Chicken Fettucini and Plum

Snack: Another Piece of Fruit, 100 Cal. Popcorn

Dinner: Chicken and Caesar Salad

Thanks for the support ladies!

Hello all!  I have another question for you.  I'm still new at this!  Ever since my second day I have had a thumbs down on my home page on the CC site.  Also, my goal date keeps getting pushed back.  Is this because I'm not meeting my calorie requirements?  If anyone knows, please fill me in!  It will be two weeks tomorrow since I started CC and I'm planning on weighing, so hopefully I won't be disappointed!

mwallen:

Have you entered a weight yet in to the log?  I don't think the thumb moves until you do.  Also, I think the thumb relates to nutrition?  Maybe you are not getting enough of something or other?  The goal date moves after you start logging in weight loss.

Happy weekend!

Hi Sheri!  Thanks for your response.  I have entered a weight into the log.  Also, I have been logging in my weight loss once per week.  However I weigh every day.  Should I log my weight every day?

Happy weekend to you!

Meghan

So I weighed myself at the gym last night and another 2 pounds has come off!!! I'm soo excited! 5 pounds total!! Wonderful :)))

Yesterday I ate really oddly:

I had a cup of noodle for lunch. No breakfast and then I had a little lasagna for dinner. I think I came in around 900 calories. Woops :(((( And I burned 300 at the gym so my defecit yesterday was huge. I'm just hoping my body won't go into starvation mode!!

Today:
Breakfast: Rice Krispie Cereal 130 cals
Lunch: Some progresso soup: 220 cals
Dinner: Not so sure yet...
Snack: A string cheese 80 cals.
That leaves 870 cals for dinner which I'm sure I wont eat... :( Do I need to start upping my calorie intake during the day?! It's weird because I'm full after all of this and any other eating I would do would feel unneccessary but am I going to go into starvation mode.

Also going to the gym today. Hoping for another 300 cal work out.

MsMont: Looks like you are doing great! Welcome to CC and to our little thread!!! Keep up the good work and keep checking in!

Meghan: I wish I could help... I'm not too good at that whole thing. But maybe it is because you entered your weight loss as being too much for how long you gave yourself and also maybe you aren't eating right? I dunno. Why don't you give us a little run down on what you've been eating and maybe we could help :))) I'm not sure :( But I would love to help any way I can!!!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

I think I figured out the problem...  I've been eating about 1400 calories and I've been losing weight.  I decided I wasn't going to log my weight every day, but once a week.  So, when I weighed this morning and logged my weight for the week I got a thumbs up and it moved my goal date up by over a month.  Sooo, I guess I should be logging it every day to keep my goal date correct.  And thumbs up!  I'm not sure!  We will see what happens over the next few days!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey, I'd like to be in on this as well.  I signed up last week and haven't been super strict about sticking to my calorie intake so needless to say I haven't lost any weight.  The counter itself is helping me to think more about how much I'm consuming.  Generally I have really good control over my eating habits while I'm at work.  The vending machine rarely tempts me.  At home however, I fall into eating a little of everything in sight while looking for dinner.  I think a little more planning will go a long way.

Went on a baking binge today which isn't going to help anything but it was fun and it kept me from sitting in front of the television, snacking all day.  Have thanksgiving dinner tomorrow.  The host is making a bacon wrapped turkey. :/

I have a long way to go and a lifetime of bad habits to reform.  This won't be quick.
