Hey All!
I've been talking to a few people on another topic and I decided that we needed to all get together on one topic and be weight loss buddies! Who's in?
Basically here you post your meal plan and exercize times. And also just chat with those who have the same goals as you do!
Wyjit: Welcome! Have a great Canadian Thanksgiving ;))) I'm sure us here in the states will be having the same problem in a little over a month. And welcome!!! Binging is frustrating because everything looks so good but it's just sooo bad! Haha!! :)))
Meghan: Glad you figured out the site :)) Maybe one of these days I should try to look into it. Haha
So today:
Breakfast: a half an apple... I started eating it and it was kinda gross ;( (30)
Lunch: Turkey Chilli and 1/2 plain bagel (315)
Snack: A spoonfull of Peanut butter
Gym!! For an hour! Hopefully will burn about 300 cals!
Dinner: A Chef Salad! Yum yum!!!
How about you all? Any good ideas of dinner ideas? Cuz I'm running low on ideas! Haa
Hi guys,
After reading everyone's latest, I thought I better check in too.
Things have been going GREAT. I've only been at this since the 7th, but am down 5lbs., and can see and feel a difference already. My husband has even noticed!
I was worried I would blow things on the weekend, because we usually have some drinks, go out for dinner, etc. So, I had upped my cals from 1200 to 1400 for those 2 days. I had some wine on Sat., but kept diner light with sushi. I ended up doing 1200 on Sunday, afterall.
I think this worked well for me. I didn't feel deprived, and I didn't go off the charts. It was like giving myself a little break, and being reasonabe...life is about living & enjoying, afterall. If we all deprive ourselves of that, I think this is what does us in in the long run.
What do you think? How do you tackle the weekends?
Cheers!
Sheri

I made an awesome goulash last night! I feed 4 people, but my fiance is trying to bulk up, so really, I am feeding 5... :-) You may have to adjust this a bit!
GRILLED GOULASH
1 pkg pasta (whole wheat is best)
Italian sausage (for some protein and fats)
1 green bell pepper
1 yellow bell pepper
1 orange bell pepper (you can use all green if you want... The different colors are just more appealing)
3 celery stalks
8oz whole mushrooms
1 can green beans
1 can corn
1 or 2 jars of spaghetti sauce
Preheat your grill... Clean all your veggies. Cut your bell peppers in 1/2 and clean out the seeds. Put your italian sausage links, and the peppers, celery, and mushrooms on the grill to cook. (I have part of my grill turned to low, to cook the veggies and not burn them) The veggies should be done about the same time that your links are. Meanwhile, boil the pasta and heat the spaghetti sauce. Once the veggies and links are cooked, cut them all into bite sized pieces, and mix them in with the pasta and spaghetti sauce, then add in the corn and green beans (the don't need to be cooked. They will warm with the rest.... Enjoy!
The grill gives and entirely different taste to the Italian sausage and it's MUCH healthier (as healthy as sausage can get anyway) to grill instead of the traditional frying!
Kim!
That sounds wonderful!! I'm adding it to my recipes right now :) I'll let you know how it works out!! :) Thanks!!
Wow! These last two weeks have been... ughhhh... :) I've been super sick and still am ;( I hardly am eating anything and I'm really worried about that! But I can't bring myself to eat! Yesterday I think I averaged about 900 cals :( I didn't realize I was that low until just barely when I went to write down everything I ate! I'm going to be better today!! Maybe this goulash will help!!

My fiance likes curry chicken, so I am going to attempt that tonight. I have never made any type of Chinese food before, so it should be interesting! I will give you that recipe too if it turns out good.
Have you tried chicken and rice soup? Super healthy and it's awesome when you make it yourself. Sooo easy too...
Cube a few chicken breasts
1 large can of chicken broth (low sodium is better for you)
Chicken boullion cubes (about 6)
Celery stalks
Baby carrots
Onion
Garlic
Rice
water
Cut the veggies into the size that you want, boil the chicken and all veggies in a pot for about an hour or so, until the veggies are still a little crunchy... Put some rice in and cook until the rice is tender (I would not recommend using minute rice). You will have to keep adding water to keep it a soup base as it boils away and the rice will take up a ton. You can use as many or a few of everhtying you want. I like more veggies in mine, so I use a ton.
This made enough for us to have 2 dinners (4 people) out of it, and to be able to freeze enough to have 2 more dinners out of it.
maybe this soup would actually be better for me tonight :) considering i can hardly swallow anything :) you have wonderful recipes! where do you get them?? i have about 5 recipes that i cycle around. it's kinda funny. my husband always asks me , 'we're having this again?' i basically have to tell him, 'take it or leave it.' i'm a wonderful wife :)))
i just read your profile! congrats on joining a gym! it's sooo motivational! and CONGRATS on getting married!!! :))

Mostly, I pull a basic recipe off the internet and then I modify it to make my own version. I have all kinds of recipes, and my family (parents, aunts, uncles, etc) are completely amazed and laugh at me, because I don't ever usually measure anything! I just put in whatever amount that I think looks right!
The family favorites Prime Rib, Pulled pork, and Parmesean Butter Chicken (not fattening at all). Their favorite snack is my Cinnamon Banana Bread.
If you want to cook something particular, let me know and I will create you a great recipe!

Dear Megs890- Don't focus too much on the scale. Remember muscle weighs more than fat. If you are hitting the gym as much as you are, you should be loosing inches at first more than weight. I remember after having my second child and working out so much and not loosing anything....I was so frustrated. But, after the hump of the first month or so...I began seeing results, scale and inches. So, just keep it up and don't let the scale get you down! remove quote
The Curry Chicken was AMAZING! It made enough for us to both have 2-3 meals out of it. The first night, we both went back for 2nds because it was soo good. Then, we were soo overstuffed, that we couldn't move. At least it was mostly veggies and chicken, so pretty healthy! Anyway, I would HIGHLY recommend this recipe.

myampat: You're right, I need to stop worrying so much about the scale. The problem is, I haven't been able to work out for the last 3 weeks. I've been sick or on vacation for all of it :( But it's a new week! I am planning on starting Jillian Michaels 30 day shred today :) So that should build me some muscle!
Kim: Curry Chicken sounds so good! Where did you get the recipe? I love Curry!!!
I started with the recipe from cooks.com "Chinese Curry Chicken", but modified it to my own recipe. Very rarely will I ever make a recipe that I don't modify...
Here's my recipe for it if you are interested:
2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into strips
2 cups of water
4 TBSP Curry powder
4 TBSP Soy Sauce
1 tsp ground Cumin
1 tsp mustard powder
cornstarch / Water for thickening agent
2 Bell peppers, cut in strips or 1" chunks
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1 lb whole mushrooms, halved
3 celery stalks, chunked
1/2 lb baby carrots, halved
1 onion, cut in strips or 1" chunks
Cut all veggies and saute for about 5 minutes in about 4TBSP vegetable oil and then put those aside.
Slice chicken and saute in 4 TBSP vegetable oil and the curry, cumin, and mustard powder for about 5 minutes. Then add the water and let simmer covered for about 20 minutes. Add the veggies and simmer another 20 minutes. Then, add your cornstarch/water and boil until thick. Spoon over cooked rice and it's WONDERFUL!!!
