I've been at cc since January of this year. I started out at 168lbs and I'm 5'5". The first 6 weeks I did mainly cardio (biking and rowing) burning about 300 calories a day, 6-7 days a week. My goal is 1200 calories per day, but it averages more like 1300-1400 day. In January I lost 8lbs. So a couple of weeks ago, I decided to switch up my workout and include about 4 days of weight training/3 days of cardio/and I teach yoga 5xweek. Initially, it seemed my weight dropped to 157lbs after the first week of weight training. Today I'm back up to 160lbs!! Can anyone tell me what's going on? Why am I not losing weight still. When I do the math of calories in vs. calories burned, I should be at 155 now.
Thanks!
just bumping it up,hoping to get a response
ttom?
how much do you burn a day (not just from exercise) and what is your bmr?
also, sometimes weight loss stalls for no reason. happens to me a lot, then suddenly it starts moving again. i like to think the needle on my scale gets stuck for a few weeks, except i have a digital....
My burn meter is about 2000 calories per day. So I'm consuming around 1400 calories per day and exercising about 300 calories off per day.
thanks for the input!
And your bmr is? google "BMR Calculator" and enter in your stats. The number it gives you should be the minimum you eat.
I'm guessing, from what you are saying, that your BMR will be about 1400, and so you are eating enough. Sometimes it just takes a few weeks for the scale to catch up with the math - just don't get discouraged. I was between 142-144 since mid-Jan, and all of a sudden, I hit 140 today (skipping 141) - so the daily weight won't always match up, but over time, it will work out.
You've added a good amount of weight training and you're gaining muscle in response. Also, I hope you're giving your weight training at least a day inbetween break so that your muscles have a chance to repair themselves. So not only are you gaining muscle, which is denser and heavier than fat (but takes up less room per pound), but while your muscles are healing after you weight train, they retain water.
Hello,
I do cardio everyday followed up with an areobic weight lifting. Lots of reps lighter weight. That seems to work for me. The other key is to eat all day long. something to get you to the next meal. For me each meal is like a snack. I am supposed to yake in 2700 cals per day. I rarely hit that, but I feel pleasntly full.
If you are interested, I can be more specific. I hate to tell people to change things if it's working for them.
Hope it helped a bit.
