Weight loss challenge anyone? (First Weigh in TODAY!)
I'm new to CC, and I would really love to get involved in a weight loss challenge. We all give our starting weight and each week we weigh in, how about on Mondays. We'll figure out who has the lost the most (both weight and percentage). Let's start with one month and see how everyone does. Weigh in today (or whenever you read this and want to join) and we'll "end" on January 14th. Or rather, start a new one! I'd like to keep it down to like 20-25 people so it's easier to keep track of. Let's do this together people!!!
Today - the 17th of December I'm weighing in at 286.4.
Join in!
I would like to start! I just started "CC" a few hours ago, plus we weigh about the same. Although, I am a man and I'm 6'4" so I understand if I don't make the cut. Starting tomorrow morning I am starting a jogging regimen. Light at first, of course, and then I'm keeping my calories down. I'm married, but I get little support (she's an amazing cook, it's the holiday cooking season, and I love carbs....it's like the perfect storm).
Today - December 17th 2007, I'm at 286.0 and my goal is to get down to 220.
I want to join! I just joined CC this past week and so far I love it. I do cardio 3 days a week and random exercise the rest of the days. I have little to no support as I live far away from family and don't have a huge number of friends in the area.
Today- 12.17.07, I am weighing in today at 198 and my goal is to get down to 140.
It' s actually better to weight yourself more often than that. There have been several studies that support this. Here is one article to check out:

Personally, I get discouraged when I weigh myself often. I'm just shooting for every Monday. But it will be SO nice to throw my number out there every week. I think it will help me become accountable.
I would like to join in also.
I have been yo-yoing back and forth for the past two months. Lose 10 lbs and then somehow it finds its way back. I hurt my back a few weeks ago and that is limiting the exercise I can do right now but the doctor just cleared me to start swimming so I guess that is going to be my exercise at the moment.
I am currently at 245 lbs and my short term goal is to lose 15 lbs by 14 Jan 08. My long term goal is to get down to 140 lbs hopefully by next fall. I know that is asking a lot of myself. I really need to get with it as I have a 20 year reunion coming up and a family trip to the Carribean next winter. Plus losing all of this weight will help with my back problems.
Josh I am also married and my husband LOVES to eat. Makes it hard for me to stay on track as he is always wanting to take me out to eat. I asked him what happened to like going out bowling, swimming or for a hike LOL
How is everyone planning on reaching their goals?
I am trying to strive to keep my calorie intake below 1500 a day and my fiber intake about 50grams a day. Then will start swimming 3 times a week for 45 minutes a day. Once I am cleared for more exercise then I will add walking on the treadmill back in and yoga/pilates. I get bored doing the same exercise regimen all of the time so I try to alternate with other things.
Hello everyone,
Can I join, I dont have that much too loss but you know last 10lbs are the harder to loss
CW 155lbs
goal 140lbs or 145lbs
I will be happy at 145lbs
Well, I just started yesterday...so we'll see how successful it is...
I am keeping my calorie intake between 1300-1700 per day. I am trying to make sure that I get at least 4 servings of vegetables and 3 fruits. Also trying to only have 2 servings of carbs. Also really trying to make sure that I drink at least 64 ounces of water each day, and NO diet soda! (When I have diet soda in the house, I tend not to drink water at all.)
I am also on Holiday break starting Friday (since I'm a teacher) so I want to exercise at least 4 times per week, both strength training and cardio. Currently I can do at least 30 minutes on the elliptical, which is my machine of choice. I want to work up to doing at least 45 by the time break is over (the 7th of January). I also love pilates and my gym offers a class that I want to do each Saturday. That is the current plan.
Any suggestions people have would be more than welcome!
And Sulma...I'll add you! No problem!
Dec 18... I am 192 Short term goal 15 pounds Long term, i would love to be 140.
Wow, your like becoming the Oprah of CalorieCount.com! As for me, I am cutting my calories to be between 1500 - 2000. I plan on hitting the treadmill 3 or 4 times a week, slowly increasing my distance. Then after I'm use to it, I'd like to hit the eliptical in the evening as well. I love that the most, as long as I have my music. I use to do over an hour at a time, but right now I probably couldn't do more than 20 minutes.
My short term goal is 250 by March and longterm 220 by August. I know that still seems kind of high, but my body fat percentage is not terribly high and I'm 6'4".
Hi to everyone who recently joined! In order to reach my goal, I am keeping my calories between 1300-1600 per day. I just started (2 weeks ago) a plan designed to get my endurance up so I can run better. Right now, I am in the second week of it which translates to running about 20 minutes and walking about 10. Bu the end of 3 more weeks I should be able to run about 3.5 miles with no problems! It's huge for me, because I NEVER enjoyed running, but this actually gets me motivated. I would also really like to join a gym that has a lap pool, because swimming is something I am interested in as well.
