Weight Loss Challenge Lose 40-50lb by Thanksgiving
Hi all, so I was online yesterday writing a post in my journal and I decided that I would make a goal for myself and I set it for this Thanksgiving. I'm looking to lose 40-50lb overall so thats a pretty healthy weight of about 2lb a week. So then I had another brilliant idea, why keep this so myself? Instead use this as a motivation tool for everyone! So if you want to join my challenge and lose 40-50 by this Thanksgiving then write a post here with your measurements and your goal weights. The challenge will officially begin this Monday June 15 (sorry for the late notice) and last until November 26. Means for the next 23 weeks (5 1/2 months) we are going to challenge ourselves to change our relationship with food, make healthy decision, get active, and of course reach our weight loss goals.
A little about me:
Height: 5'7
Age: 20
Current Weight: 196
Goal Weight: 150
Even though I was born premature I have been overweight most of my life and it wasn't until my teens when it started to bother me. I lost about 30lb by the end of my senior year of high school, just by working out and eating healthy. It was a long process, but I felt good about the way I looked and felt. Then college hit me! and I suffered from the freshman 15 and then some. So I'm finally going into summer from my first year of college and I'm trying to use this otherwise boring opportunity to jump start my weight loss and keep it off once and for all.
I hope you all find this challenge fun and motivating, I really think this can be great!
I'd like to join too, if it's not too late! I've been at this for a little while, but it took me some time to figure out how to stop gaining and now I'm on the track of losing! I think a challenge is exactly what I need right now.
Height: 5'3" (almost)
Age: 29
Current Weight: 213.8
Thanksgiving Goal Weight: 170
Overall Goal: 135
I'll go with this week's challenge to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. I did that yesterday, so I'm not really behind even though I'm a day late. My goal is to lose 2 lbs this week
OK, so I'm late - but I'd love to join.
Height - 5'1"
Age - 31
current weight: 189.0
goal weight: 140
My goals this week are 1) eat a salad with dinner every night, and 2) to get back into a workout routine - last year I did the 12 week workout from this website for about 3 months, (and lost weight), but I got derailed over the holidays - I just made it back to where I was last November 23.
I would love to jump in also..
Height - 5'0"
Age - 29
current weight: 213.4
goal weight: 170
My goals for this week is get at least 7 hours sleep each night (I am an habitual night owl) and to drink water not diet soda. I am also joining a gym and trying to make room in my schedule to go at least three times during the work week.
Hey everyone and welcome new members:
Miki robi mightymom Kelly meg and katy!!
I hope that everyone's monday went well and that we're all drinking plenty of water (get in those 8 glasses a day). For me personally i was so excited that it was monday (for once) and I went for a jog at the gym and felt great!, but then the late night munchies struck and I went over my daily calorie intake by about 500!! I realized that I do absolutely fine during the day and that it's at night when I do most of my eating, and not the healthy kind. I'm working on getting control of my night time eating so that I can make this week's goal of 2lb. Anyone else have this problem?
Happy Tuesday!
Best,
Myrtie
Oh my goodness, are you kidding me?! About 2/3 of all my daily calories are consumed in the evening. I eat so well at work for breakfast and lunch, but as soon as I get home...totally different story!
It's like no one can see me eat...so it doesn't count
.
But it's getting better, Thankfully my husband is starting to enjoy more than meat and potatos! My problem right now...EXERCISE. I keep planning to walk after work, but I rarely do. This challenge should get me into gear!
Hello Everyone!

15 years ago I was a kickboxing instructor. Maybe I wont teach again, but I sure can get back in top condition--feeling good, and teaching life changning habits to a diabetes plagued family--that is my goal.

Hi
Me too definitely in!
I've been doing Paul McKenna's weight loss technique and have lost 7 pounds in three weeks. One of the things he says is not to weigh yourself that often so my next weigh in won't be until the 28th of June.
I am now 5ft 5
39
216 pounds
want to be 135 pounds again
Gosh what a sad summary of a person lol.
oh yeah
Female - in there somewhere...trying to get out!
BYW if like me you are a soda drinker and find drinking water about as exciting as waiting for a bus, try adding a little bit of syrup to dilute it. I know it is very high in sugar, but a teensy drop in a two litre jug of water makes it taste so much better.
Or squeezing a half a fresh lime or lemon into water can make it more exiting if you find water boring. That way you get the taste without overloading with sugar! Not to everyone's taste though, so if the syrup gets you drinking the water then go for that. x
Hello New Friends,
Can anyone help me figure out this plateau thing? I was on a roll, and now I am stuck. The problem is this caloric intake thing--I dont think I am eating enough. I love fresh fruit and veggies, and I eat them alot-this leaves me quite short of where I need to be. I feel great, but this stuck scale is attacking my motivation--help!!!
Ok, I know I'm late..but I'm going to give it a go!I just started, so this is the motivation I was looking for and why I joined, Thanks for the invite!!
Height: 5'3 Age:36 Current Weight: 185 Goal Weight: 120
THanksgiving goal weight: 145
hi! i know what you mean!! I eat lots of fruit and veg and so find my calories are often much lower than they should be..
what i was thinking of doing this week was changing things a bit. Make sure that if I eat veg then iv got protien in there too. Like when I make a stir fry, instead of just veggies going to have some fish in there. When i make salad, get some falafel involved. When I have fruit in the morning, have a small pot of plain natural yogurt too.
Dont know if it will work but going to give it a go and see if I feel better/worse and if any more/less weight is lost. I dont want to add calories with unhealthy foods, but some lean protein/good fats wont hurt.
Ill let you know how it goes! x
My problem is lunch. I wanna eat LOTS of lunch, but by dinner I am still to stuffed to eat. Sounds good, BUT.....I then get hungry at 9-10pm and the so called experts say not to eat after 7pm, for you don't move enough to exercise it off.
Boy, I'm in a pickle...lol.
I'll be happy when I feel like I CAN exercise. 241 lbs. makes ya slow and sluggish. Ah well, at last I don't weigh 274 anymore hmmm?
at least I ate well today, no McDonalds...lol.

Hi Everyone!
Hope the first days are going well. I am also an evening eater. I'm too busy during the day to eat a lot. I have made it a mental habit of eating at night, even if I'm not really that hungary. One thing I have tried in the past which helps is making an "instead of list". Make a list of small errands or projects to do (such as walk, call or find a friend, write a journal entry on here, clean the toilet, whatever). Whenever, you have the urge to snack, try doing one of these things. The idea is to train your brain to not immediately say "I want food" every time you are not busy. It seems silly but the tough part about over-eating is that your brain has been trained to eat and eat when you aren't busy. I had the urge just a minute ago to eat and decided to write about it on here and the feeling has subsided a bit.
My first 2 days have been ok. I did very well today so far. My two biggest problems is that I don't exercise anymore and I overeat in the evening. I'm started the 12 week program through this website and hope I can stick to it.

Hope this works.... Happy early 50th MntGirl.

LOL... trying again
Hello everyone.
Does flavored water count as water? cause I can drink like 3 20oz regular waters but that is a little boring for me... I'm a big taste person and I have a bunch of flavored water that I bought at the store already...
How is everyone doing? I feel like I am doing pretty good. Evening is my BIG downfall...... I could just eat nonstop!! I have bought myself some small apples and naval oranges just in case I "really, really need something."
Lets keep up the good work!!
I'd like to join too if it's not too late!
