Weight Loss Challenge Lose 40-50lb by Thanksgiving
Hi all, so I was online yesterday writing a post in my journal and I decided that I would make a goal for myself and I set it for this Thanksgiving. I'm looking to lose 40-50lb overall so thats a pretty healthy weight of about 2lb a week. So then I had another brilliant idea, why keep this so myself? Instead use this as a motivation tool for everyone! So if you want to join my challenge and lose 40-50 by this Thanksgiving then write a post here with your measurements and your goal weights. The challenge will officially begin this Monday June 15 (sorry for the late notice) and last until November 26. Means for the next 23 weeks (5 1/2 months) we are going to challenge ourselves to change our relationship with food, make healthy decision, get active, and of course reach our weight loss goals.
A little about me:
Height: 5'7
Age: 20
Current Weight: 196
Goal Weight: 150
Even though I was born premature I have been overweight most of my life and it wasn't until my teens when it started to bother me. I lost about 30lb by the end of my senior year of high school, just by working out and eating healthy. It was a long process, but I felt good about the way I looked and felt. Then college hit me! and I suffered from the freshman 15 and then some. So I'm finally going into summer from my first year of college and I'm trying to use this otherwise boring opportunity to jump start my weight loss and keep it off once and for all.
I hope you all find this challenge fun and motivating, I really think this can be great!
YAY. I had a great work out today. so happy. It was hard but I feel so good now..
Have a great weekend everyone..;)
hi guys, gained 2# this week. I have not been very discipliined with my eating but I have continued with the juicing minus a couple days a week. This is my first gain for a long time so at least I can say that for myself. Mostly I am concentrating on chilling out from my job. Am kind of off track but not too much. I plan on doing a little better and no more gaining. I'm thrilled I have lost as much as I have! good luck to ya!

Hi All,
I didn't have good results this week -- somehow I gained 1.3 lbs - oh no! All week I was stuck and didn't lose anything and then got on the scale this morning and it went up. I hope this is just a brief set back -- I ate well this week and went to the gym 5 days.
So that I didn't dwell on the gain this week I thought about thing things I have been able to accomplish and though I would share:
- I started with CC on June 1 at 250 and this Challenge on June 14 at 243. So far I have lost a total of 54.5 lbs and 47.5 for the challenge
- Have gone from a size 20W to a size 16.
- Hardly exercising to going to the gym 5 days a week.
- I just started running and signed up for my first ever 5K race on December 14.
- Based on my BMI I am almost out of Obese - not yet but soon.
I am not going to let this little set back (or anything else) stop me from reaching my goal.

Hope everyone had a good halloween! I was proud, I avoided most candy (except a couple Starbursts that we had for the trick or treaters). Didn't avoid the alcohol, so we'll see if it catches up to me this week. I hope not!
Hi everyone. Just found this site, and hoping that this challenge will keep me focused and consistent. I am shooting for end of Dec to be down 15lbs. Went to the gym this morning and packed a lunch. So far so good.

Hey all, not a good week for me. I'm hopeful it's just water weight, but...I wasn't very disciplined this weekend. Had too much fried chicken (and I HATE fried chicken...what's up with eating it?) and too much homemade bread. I was good with candy--only 1 piece! Nonetheless, first weight gain. Boo.

Thanks!!! Good luck to you on getting to your goal!! I am positive you can do it! and if you hit a plateau let us know I have pushed through a couple so far, and would love to help any way I can!
I haven't checked in for 3 weeks and it's for a dumb reason. I gained weight after my last weigh-in and I was just so embarrassed. Now I'm here posting only because I finally started losing weight. I know it's way more mature if I just post objectively so I will try to actually do that. What happened was that I suddenly dropped 7 pounds in the span of 3 days. I fluctuated from 205 up to 209 and then down again throughout Oct. Last week I was 207. My body is so Weird!

Lost 2.8 lbs last week, and I didn't make it to the gym once. My insomnia is kicking up big time and I've barely slept in over a week, so I don't feel comfortable pushing myself at the gym if my body is already acting up. I'm happy though, I've lost 30 lbs for this challenge, which means since May I've lost 40! Whoohoo!
Hi All,
So I struggled at the last weigh in gaining 1.5 lb -- it did come off rather quickly so I am thinking it was from maybe so much sodium the day before. It's definitely getting harder but it is still coming off. This weeks total loss is 2.2. I'm almost at my original goal and 3.3 lbs away from my revised goal.

CW 193.3
Thanksgiving goal 193 - .7 lbs to go!
Revised Goal - 190 - 3.3 lbs to go!

Overall goal 156
Just a couple more weeks to go! Good luck!
Meg
I lost one more pound leaving me two pounds to go until T-day! Hope I make it but if not I got really close. I'm still working on giving up some of the junk food I adopted lately due to my job environment... but I did lose this week so yay for me! Am juicing mostly every day so that is good! Good luck everyone we are almost there and ready to start a new goal!

GW for this challenge was : 165 lbs (Ill keep going, I want those 150 s :p lol
My overall goal with not date in mind for acheiving it is 140lbs I think end of January is realistic for me. But may be sooner depending on how much I lose at nutrition bootcamp. This week I was the challenges biggest loser with % of weight loss of 2.08% and 0 cheats in my food log. This week we have to continue with the food log and ensure we get 25g of fibre per day. I love this building block nutrition it is taking what I am already doing and making me more aware of why I need to watch certain things.
Good luck all in this final countdown!!!!!
Weigh-in day for me....

Half a pound and I'll have just squeezed into my goal range. Although, some of this weight might come back, since I lost quite a bit of weight this week because of the flu.
Regardless of how it came off, I am sooooooo happy to be past that plateau! ![]()

I DID IT!!!!
I am headed to my Mother's house 40 pounds down! AMEN!
This has been quite a journey; I have been stuck at 218 for about five weeks, and I finally broke my plateau and hit this goal. I have several other milestones I have set for myself on the journey to my ultimate goal, but WOW does it feel good to be able to say I did this.
Bless you all for your support-thios post is amazing and I know we are all going to do it.
WoooooHooooooo!!!! Way to go, Wordseed. I'm so happy for you. Especially your perserverance during the 5-week plateau. Those times can be so discouraging, but you didn't give up. Thanks for the encouragement.
Congrats all on making it closer to your goals. :D
Wish me luck in not getting frustrated and giving up!
I'm so happy for all of you. :)
Congrats to all who lost weigh...These are my numbers for the week. I was using my scale to track my weight, but my doc's scale is always over by 3-5 lbs, so I decided to use their scale to track it. As long as someone's scale is decreasing every week, I'm happy. They officially have me down as having lost 14.5lbs in 3 weeks.

You know, this world has become overweight and unhealthy....and we are a part of a special group of people who have taken so seriously the challenge to feel and look better. No one but us knows what it is to climb this mountain, and it is truly one step at a time!
Whether you have lost a half pound or 10 since you started, or even if your accomplishment is that you have not gained, take a moment away from measuring by numbers and hug yourselves for working on yourself, not giving up, and loving yourself enough to even try. This is not a battle that needs to be won overnight, and every small battle won will ead to the ultimate victory. here are some things you may not have considered a victory, but believe me, they are:
- Did you drink water today when you never used to drink it at all?
- Did you have a small scoop of ice cream instead of a big bowl?
- Did you do just one more sit up?
- Did you read a nutrition label on a product before you bought it?
- Did you walk a flight of stairs?
- Did you have just one serving of someting really tasty?
- Did you have veggies on your pizza instead of pepperoni?
- Did you share a healthy tip with someone?
- Did you look in the mirror and find just one thing you loved?
- Did you read this post today?
If you did any of those things, or countless others not listed, then you are still in the fight. Remember to reach out to people, stay strong and faithful, and remember that this is a one step, one day, one pound at a time thing. We will all get there. God bless!
