Hi, i have lost around 26 pounds over the last 5-6 months. Mostly by extremely cutting calories. Due to all the weight lost, i have also lost an incredible amount of energy. I play soccer, on my highschool varsity team, and used to love running, and was in great running condition. Soccer starts up in about a month, and i'm worried i will be to weak and not be able to keep up. I don't want to eat more.........or increase my calories a lot. I was wondering if there are any bars, drinks, shakes, or vitamins i could take to help increase my energy before games and practices. Thanks

the only thing I can think of is that you're not eating enough, you should have more energy now... how many calories are you eating?
take care.

My guess is you're not consuming enough calories. To maintain your weight you should be eating about 1700 calories. During soccer (depending how long practices are) you should be getting in about 2400 calories. Boost drinks will give you about 240 calories or you can do Power Bars which have 230 calories. But how many calories are you eating now?
well...i don't keep an actual count............around 1100 -1200 it varies
when trying to lose weight 1500 is generally reccommended (remember you're a teenager!) but thats when you're only doing about 20-30 minutes of activity a day. for every extra 30 minutes of activity add 250 calories.
I'm experiencing the same problem. I mountain bike a lot and have had a hard time keeping my energy up during weight loss. One day I was really hungry and had a Dunkin Donuts ham/egg/&cheese bagel sandwich before a ride. Loads of calories - not the healthiest food choice - but I felt great and rode great too!
I've found on days that I splurge like this - I feel great and it doesn't seem to have a big impact on my weight loss. Sometimes it even helps.
1200 calories is definately not enough for someone who is young and active. I consume about 1800 calories each day and I'm still losing weight. Just two pounds left until I reach my goal. I'm hoping that once I reach my goal and bump up my calories to 2200 that I won't be so tired.
