Weight Loss is NOT just About the Pounds

Nope-i-doodle....
INCHES play a significant role.  My weight goes up and down, but my inches are still going.  And I don't even measure!  I just know from myh clothes, and having a couple items that I could not 'nowaynohow' fit into when I started.  I now pull them on and zip with ease.

It's a lifestyle and a life change.  I've been doing this since April 23rd, officially.  I've 'only' lost 20lbs.  I say 'only' because some people manage to lose huge numbers.  Personally, I know my body is a bit loathe to lose so, I am patient.  I also know I'm a bit prone to becoming over-zealous and worried about the weight, not a sustainable lifestyle so, I am patient.  Thank G** for the inches, though, otherwise I might just have given up.  I may not be eating incredibly low numbers of calories or working out hours a day (Biggest Loser comes to mind) but...I am certainly working hard and diligently on this.  I've been very consistant and conscious.  That kind of dedication deserves results, yes???

So, those who know me - my monthly weight-spike-freak-out becomes more philosphical!  It's hard, what we are attempting to do after years and years of non-discipline and/or bad habits.  Every pound or inch is a triumph.  DON'T OBSESS OVER THE SCALE.   And definitely don't compare your losses to others.  EveryBODY is different.

Just some rambling thoughts from someone on a semi-plateau!

BUMP, already!
I went down a size recently and the scale didn't move a whole lot. I've been pounding the weights like crazy and I look a lot sleeker, but the scale is moving lazily.
I'm having the opposite happen!
I've lost about 30 lbs, but I've only gone down 1 pants size! In other words, I've only lost 2 inches to the 30 lbs!

I'm not too concerned, because I've always heard that the belly area is the LAST to go - so maybe I'll be there really soon.

However, if anyone has any input on this I'd be GLAD to hear it! :)
Are you doing some strength training? You might be losing a lot of muscle if you're just doing cardio and dieting. If that's happening, you'll drop a lot on the scale but not see as much noticeable results.
Oh no, I'm doing weight lifting too. Many reps with lower amounts of weight to build leaner muscles.

But is it true what they say about the gut thinning out last?
plantpage........throw out the low weights and start lifting heavy.....it is so much better for you and you will see results so much quicker!!
I read an article about what logman said.  Woman tend to lift to low.  We can't bulk up like a man and will get better results lifting heavier.  But, I have just been hiking up hills and it is to hot here to workout in the house.  I like to get up at dawn and go hike in the cool of the morning.  I have noticed more in inches than pounds too.  My thighs, hips and belly are really trimming down but not my upper part yet.  I have been doing this since May and love seeing the progress.  Yesterday I hiked to the summit and felt super!  I could not have done that last year!
