Has Anyone ever started losing weight that to everyone is noticeable.... and your your family (Mom, sister, dad, hubby) are all happy for you, excited..... but others...Not to specify direct relation (Im not the only one who is internet savvy)  seem Jealous?

If I'm at a family function and I choose not to eat a certain food and they do... they have an attitude? I dont care if other people dont want to lose weight, I dont prey on anyone.... But Its not my fault your not losing weight if you choose to eat JUNK! I can't be the only one who has seen this am I?

No. You're not the first, you won't be the last. Sometimes people wonder out loud if you're anorexic when clearly you're eating a hearty, nutritous (yet calorie-smart) meal. It's just cause you weigh less than you used to and they... don't.
no, you are definitely not the only one.  i know someone (who will remain nameless) who is also trying to lose weight but doesn't quite do anything about it except complain.

i keep him updated on my progress and he always negates what i say.  he'll say "well you're weight is probably fluctuating, you'll go back up tomorrow" or "i think you should eat whatever you want" or "every scale is different"...it's like he doesn't want to accept that i'm making any progress.

what is up with that????
Or, because you've started eating small meals all day long and you're drinking a lot of water which is causing you to run to the bathroom a lot, they accuse you of being bulimic.  It's like you can't win.

The worst is when people at work or social events are jealous and manifest it by trying to feed you!

lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
No, seriously--people stop by my office with homemade treats because I "look like I need some meat on my bones."  It's ridiculous!

And that is a funny picture!
OH MY GOD THE FEEDING! It's awful. And the smile sweetly at you and say you've been so good, have this and that, it won't hurt.
Oh and sometimes, people say they don't notice a change when you've lost like 30lb and everybody and their mother is telling you how much thinner you look.
What is up with that!!! They dont care about losing weight then... Mine is more like this:

At a family function of the 4th of July, some people (mostly the older crowd of the family) where complimenting me on my weight loss of 100 lbs today! then it was 97 lbs.  And some of the younger (40 and below) adult women were doing the look thing, along with the snicker or the comment when handing out cake, of "She Won't want any with an attitude.....  That type of situation.. My hubby said (these are his family members) youve lost more weight than any of  them combined has lost in the last 10 years that they've been trying to lose weight.  Im not the only one that saw this!
I know the feeding thing..... I understand that...... I had someone run through DQ on there way back to the office, and got me a BLIZZARD.. OK NOT HAPPENING, and got mad they spent there money and I woldnt eat it. I dont cheat for me let alone someone else! Explain that one!
it's definitely jealousy...people tend to kind of make fun of something that they envy or wish they could do themselves. at least i think so.  it isn't right, and it's actually quite sad...before i started all this i had a friend who lost a bit of weight and i was motivated by her to do the same, rather than snicker at her because she didn't order french fries.
i may not have been able to pass up the blizzard :(
Smile at them and be sweet. You're losing weight and you're above their snarky attitude. Double whammy!
actually...i had a similar thing happen when i decided to give up meat.   i don't think it's necessarily jealousy but i don't know what it could be. it was only a few months ago and everyone was trying to feed me meat...and then i overheard my b/f's sis in law saying "i guess she's just too good for our primitive food"....

B****!!!!!
I  have not explained this is any post because I didnt wanna HEAR It so to speak, but I dont like CHocolate.... I hate Icing ( off of cakes) and I dislikes, chips, pretzels ect.... My problem lied in Pizza, hoagies, That kind of JUNK! and  way to much of it, with little exercise!!! It was oreo cookie Blizzard.. YUK!!!! THANK GOD DAILY I am not addicted to any of that!

So annoying... My friend at work (who is always doing crazy diets and losing a ton of weight too quickly and then gaining it back) asked me about my diet and when i told him I lost 1 pound in the last week he was like "too bad I have lost 15 in the last month". I'm like, "Ok - I hope you are doing it in a healthy way or you'll probably gain it all back." It was mean I know but I couldn't help it when he was poo pooing all over my 1lb loss, ah well. What are friends for if not to abuse each other?

Good Job on your 1 Lb Loss!
Interesting thread.  I am relieved to know that it's not just me!!!  Seems like everybody tries to give me some food, "it won't kill ya"  "It's just one"  "oh come on, your going to hurt my feelings if you don't try it"... I try to explain that for the first few months, I am trying to be very strict so that I can re-train my taste buds, and my body.  They either don't understand or don't care.

notalone...my jaw dropped when i read your first comment from the someone who will remain nameless.  Don't let it get you down.  We are all proud of you!!!

loosingthepounds...you are awesome!  an inspiration!  the people who put you down, deep down, must know that they lack class.  seriously.

thanks for sharing everyone
I went to a barbecue and a few people were complimenting me on my weight loss and then, as I was eating a chip, a girl came up to me and said, "I was going to tell you I admire your self control, but you're eating a chip."

OMG KELLYWOOD23!!!!!

i would have done something horribly unreasonable and violent.
My friends are kind of like that.. they are always saying "just eat whatever you want, geeze" when I say I don't want a brownie or something. It's because my one friend is anorexic and the other is gaining weight because he's been on atkins for like 2 years and it isn't working anymore. They're jealous that I'm losing weight a healthy way.
I must be the luckiest person in the world.  I was motivated to start losing weight by one of my buddies here at work deciding to quit smoking because he wanted to be healthier.  I saw him go through a rough couple weeks, but come through it and admired him for it.

So I started my diet and I've dropped 63 lbs so far - and EVERYONE at work has noticed.  But they've not only noticed, they make sure to toss compliments my way and I've started seeing more and more fruit and vegetable trays for coworkers' birthdays and service anniversaries.

Everyone is so nice that they didn't want to say anything at first, but I let them know I was comfortable with it.  Now different people come by my desk and ask me how it's going, give me a good word and a piece of encouragement.  The guys I go to lunch with make sure we steer clear of fast food burger places and instead hit up sandwich shops and places with soups and salads so that I have easy decisions to make there.

I can't imagine how it would feel to be accused of an eating disorder when you are working hard to make sure that everything you eat is good for you and sometimes have to make extra effort to eat more of some foods.  Although I do think gender plays a big role - guys generally don't take much flak for eating twice as much as they should, and if we start losing weight, people just assume we're working out more.

I wish those who have posted didn't have to go through what you've endured, but I find that finding a way to light a fire in myself and get a little angry (usually at myself for letting things get this out of hand) helps in the workouts.  And when it's all said and done, you will be even more proud of yourselves for having come through all the heartache and achieving your goals.  Good luck everyone!
