Weight loss leading to smaller shoe size
...So, I was quite perturbed today when I went shoe shopping. It has been at least 8 months since I went for new shoes, and I went to Payless, where I have shopped for years. My shoe size, an 8, was too big! I had to buy almost all 7 1/2 shoes. The Payless rep said they haven't changed their sizes. Well, I mentioned it to my mom this afternoon. She too has lost a lot of weight (I'm down 26.5, and she is down more than 40).....she said the same thing happened to her when she went to Dillards last week for new shoes (not payless brands). Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? I didn't think shoe sizes could change...
All of my cute platform sandals no longer fit. I had to tear most of them apart and adjust the straps 'cause otherwise my feet slid right out of them. I can't do much for the soles, those're way too big on a few.
Makes sense to me! When I was pregnant my foot size increased and stayed about 1/2 size bigger until just recently since I have been losing my baby weight (4 years later).
My feet have shrunk from 10's to 8's which means that I can buy some much cuter shoes now.
The weight you lost in your feet is fluid loss.
I went for an 8 to a 6.5 in a month. Lol, now it look like I wear little kid shoes. Its so odd, at least they are usually on sale though.
How funny, I just noticed this same thing myself today!? I used to be an 8 but when I got pregnant with my first child my feet went to a 9 and have stayed there until today when I went to try on shoes and the 9 was sliding right off of my feet! I'm the same weight now that I was when I got pregnant with my first child so it would make sense. I'm glad too, I hated being a 9!
After losing 25# I moved down from size 10 to 9 1/2.
I expect to end up at about a size 9 once I'm finished losing weight.
a few years ago i lost about 45 pounds, and my shoe size went from a 10 to an 8. i've gained all that weight (plus some more) back, and i'm in a size 9 now.
I noticed this too! My size 10 shoes that I've worn for 15 years are now too big and loose. I think I need a 9.5 or a 9 now lol!
I've gone from a size 9Wide to 8 and 8 1/2 in some brands. I love it because there are always cuter shoes in the smaller sizes. I've had to have my wedding bands resized I don't know how many times too.
The worst thing I guess is no one notices if your feet and fingers are smaller so I'd rather lose the fat say on my butt but such is life.
