Weight Loss Log
Hi all, I have fun with Excel and after starting CC about a month ago, I wanted something with more number crunching than CC lets me do. So I made my own weight loss log.
I went ahead and made it user friendly and generic in case anyone else wanted to use it. The link to the file is in my profile.
As I put in the log's description:
"A while ago I wanted more flexibility with how I tracked my weight and calorie intake. While I log my calories on About.com's Calorie Count, I wasn't satisfied with their way of tracking weight. I wanted something to see what I could achieve given a constant, realistic effort to better set my goals. I also wanted something to help me avoid getting depressed over weight fluctuations when it was simply water weight.
"Keeping track of my daily deficit and estimated water weight fluctuations helps me get a better picture of where I really am, at least theoretically. If it's TOM, I know that there's no way I could have really gained 5 lbs overnight and my weight log helps me see through the water retention and keep on plan.
"This is just a little project of mine and I doubt it will fit everyone's needs, but feel free to modify it however you like. If you aren't comfy with Excel but would like to see a feature, please message me and I'll see what I can do (I like challenges and I'm pretty good with Excel). "Also, please remember weight loss is not an exact science and the numbers here are more of a guide than a rule. I think it's a fun experiment though, but then I am a science person. As always, stay healthy and happy!"
Feel free to use it, leave comments or suggestions, or just take a look for ideas.Hm, some features are:
- Weight Tracker
- Graph of weight and weight loss
- Theoretical weight loss from deficit
- Correction for possible water-weight loss
- BMI tracker
- Goal tracker and goal ETA
- Measurements tracking
(By the way, it's set up for only weight loss simply because ED people probably shouldn't be keeping this close of track to their numbers, so says the docs I know).
Happy weight loss/gain,
Tracy
Aw it's so pretty! I wish I was that good with Excel, I tried to do something similar but it doesn't like me much. I might try using yours for a little :)
Good work and thanks for sharing!
And quick question. Did you put in all those orange rows by hand, or is there some secret to making them every 5 rows or however you had it?
Thanks!
I made a few patterns and then copied the formatting down. I think there's some way to make it do the whole dark-light-dark-light but I don't know about two darks and five lights ^_^.
That was a great idea! I went ahead and added those two things you added to mine and uploaded a new version of the spreadsheet (v1.1). I'm doing a 7-day average and used the equation I found here for calories burned: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ harris-benedict-equation/
BTW, if you ever mess up the formatting again, you can go to the example log, copy everything you'd like to fix, then go to Paste Special... and paste formatting only on top of what got messy. I usually use the paste formatting thing for big sheets like this ^_^.
Glad you liked it!
