Weight loss motivation! Lose 15 pounds by the Fourth of July, 2008!!!
Inspired by Pompay's challenge last year, I decided to do this to motivate myself as well as others. There's two months left until Independence day, so lets claim our independence of this extra weight. Who's with me??? Okay, so just state your current height, weight, and how much you would like to weigh by the Fourth of July. Any motivation words will be great! Good luck everybody!

that someone was me. today was my weigh in on my challenge to lose 10 before May 24th, so I was just curious if we were going to one here too. whenever you want is fine by me.... ( ;
spaghetti is good, but you know what I do? I got one today too -- yay! spaghestti squash!!!! I eat a whole bowl/plate with my homemade tomato, garlic, red onion, olives, and mushrooms sauce, and a 3+ cup serving is like 4-500 cals based on if I can eat the whole thing! YUM -- it's so easy too. I add chicken sometimes.
I was debating makiung that tonight or the bay scallops and bok choy I got. I've never cooked scallops at home --- any recipes? I like bok choy, but I haven't bought any in a long time. I used to steam it -- it was pretty good, but I used to put soy on it which I will not do this time for sodium avoiding purposes. any ideas there? maybe balsamic vinegar or is that crazy? I usually do ICBINB no cal spray butter, so yeah.... help?
and I agree--- I love your challenge. I accept. If I fall off, I will get back on because this is my life. I posted something about it the other day --- this is life as we know it. Every day is a new day to make it happen. ( ;

I've got a great recipe for bay scallops that uses spaghetti squash! Saute 1 lb bay scallops with 2 c sliced mushrooms and 1 c sliced zucchini in 1-2 tbl olive oil, until the scallops are opaque, usually about 2 minutes. Add 1-2 tbl pesto and the yield from your spaghetti squash, and toss around to combine. Serves 2.
Deeeelicious.
Weekly weigh-ins are cool for me, but I may not log my weight every week. My scale is broken :( and I can't afford a new one yet, but I'm working on it!
I'm in there with you! My greatest conquest so far has been getting rid of the "bad" stuff in my desk drawer at work. Well, at least replacing it! and replacing those fast food lunches with Special K meal bars. I eat fruit and yogurt for snacks during the day. And whatever I want supper, within reason. OH that sounds so perfect. Wish I didn't binge out on cookies now and then. Like last night. *Sigh*
Can anyone help explain to me (ok, no laughing about the cookie problem) how, since starting this low-cal attitude two weeks ago, I've only lost one pound?? Because most days I do really well, keeping under 1500 cals. and I take two-mile walks at lunch time when I can. (That saves gas, too, from driving to the fast food places! Grab a lunch bar and go!)
Why am I keeping with it? Because I just plain feel better when my stomach isn't so full. :-)
Keeping positive! Thanks for your help!
Hi annieb -- welcome! Do you drink lots of water? sodium? veggies? those are all things that help me lose faster. More cardio would help too. ( : Good job walking at lunch and not having fast food. ( ;
The scallops should take about 2 minutes if they're just little bay scallops. Bigger scallops may take a little longer, but scallops are one of those foods that are best when they're rare. Just make sure they're not see-through and you'll be fine. The pan should be on medium to medium-high heat.
I neeeeeed a new scale. It's just not in my budget right now. I think I might go to Wal Mart once a week just to step on a scale there to track my loss. Ha.
I would love to join in!
Height - 5'6"
Current weight - 147
4th of July goal - 132
Ultimate goal - 117
I was pretty slender during most of college but have let a desk job and "grown up" stresses get the better of me. I started food journaling this week and have joined a good gym, so hopefully I'll start/continue some better habits!
Motivation: a bunch of size 4/6 clothes that I can't wear any more! I have 2 pairs of "expensive" jeans - Seven for All Mankind and Diesel - that I bought about 2 years ago and can no longer wear, GRR! I want to get back into those!
