Weight loss motivation! Lose 15 pounds by the Fourth of July, 2008!!!

Quote  |  Reply

Inspired by Pompay's challenge last year, I decided to do this to motivate myself as well as others. There's two months left until Independence day, so lets claim our independence of this extra weight. Who's with me??? Okay, so just state your current height, weight, and how much you would like to weigh by the Fourth of July. Any motivation words will be great! Good luck everybody!
Okay, me first!
Height: 5'2"
Weight 134.5 lbs
Want to weigh by Fourth of July: 119.5
Ultimate Goal before birthday (July 22) 115
Let's see what happens!
Motivation:
A second on your lips, forever on your hips!

I will try this out, too!

I am 43 and stuck @ 190 and tired of carrying the extra weight! I am always really active during the summer but now I'm going to make a point of eating less and tracking it!

height 5'7''

start weight 211#

current 190#

goal weight 155#

If I can just lose 10# in 2 months, that would be a really nice things but I want to lose 10# this month and another five by 7-4!

I'd like to join up, but I also have no scale. It's kind of driving me nuts too, but I don't want to buy one only to ship it home in a couple months. The timing is great too, because I'm moving back to the US on July 1, and I'd really like everyone to be surprised at how I look when I get back.

In lieu of a scale, I've been using my oh-so-handy tape measure. To be honest, I'm less concerned about the numbers on the scale than I am about the numbers in my clothes. If it's okay, I'll update with my waist size instead of my pounds...

Hi everyone!

Be good this weekend - make healthy choices and get moving!!!!

I weighed in this morning at 176.5 - a bit lower than last weekend so I guess that's good - even though I wanted more....but I always want more...ALWAYS!

Good luck everyoneSmile

Just wanted to stop in and see how everyone's weekend was going. I just got done jogging with my dog for an hour and man I am exhausted and definitely ready for my smoothie.

Anyone else make it a point to exercise outside of the gym? I do; I need the sunshine.

Danyelle

I never get tired of big giganto salads, especially Mexican inspired ones with black beans, pinto beans, corn, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, and chicken or pork tenderloin cooked with cumin and chile flake. I use low cal ranch or salsa for dressing. Oh man, this salad is so spectacular.

I'm from Texas, and cutting out a lot of Mexican food has been really hard for me, but I can get my fix with this delicious salad.

I make my own homemade salsa for parties (tomatoes, garlic, red onion, black, beans, corn, spices)  Sound familiar?  (lol)

YUMMY!   I actually get requests for it at for parties.  ( :

Okay ladies, so what are we supposed to do? Do we report daily, weekly or what?

Olivia, your salsa sounds delicious. I normally use store bought, because I won't eat it as fast as homemade stuff...? Whatever, I'm weird, I just think homemade is wayyy more spectacular than store bought, so I can use store bought in moderation...I guess? Ha, whatever man.

asize12: I don't really know what we're supposed to do. I know we've talked about doing a weekly weigh-in on Saturdays, and I've been checking in a few times a week just to chat and offer encouragement. Feel free to do the same!

Great! Can anyone recommend a good digital scale? It seems like every scale that I buy is just so cheap and doesn't work right. I'm in need of a good scale and I don't wanna pay over $50 for it, thanks!

Hey Everyone!

July 4th is my goal date too!  I actually scheduled a lingerie shoot for extra motivationSurprised!

SW: 220

CW: 129.8

July 4th GW:  119

This is our life!  We can do this, lets take charge and make this year THE year.

wow, dondress ---  you are doing awesome!  (how long have you been losing weight?)   ((and kudos on your courage -- a lingerie shoot!!!!)

My advice on a scale would be to shop around, but check WalMart too.  I got a good one for $35ish.  Next time I would get one that does .3 and .8 as well as ,5's.  Mine only does .5's and I often wish it would show the other .#'s too.

razor -- I just do small batches of salsa for non-party use.  ( : One 14,5 oz can of tomatoes, one red onion, a little corn, a can of black beans, garlic, spices, stir.  YUM -- I used it on lots of stuff from fish to "taco" salads to actually using it as dip for rice cakes etc.

hey yall

I'd love to join in this! I'll be turning 20 a few days after the 4th. My goal is to be in the 140s...something I haven't seen since high school! I have so much motivation right now.

Height: 5'9

SW: 174 CW: 162 (yay!) Ultimate Goal: 137

For the 4th of July, I want to be 150.

ashabdul  ( :

that someone was me.  today was my weigh in on my challenge to lose 10 before May 24th, so I was just curious if we were going to one here too.   whenever you want is fine by me....  ( ;

spaghetti is good, but you know what I do?   I got one today too -- yay!  spaghestti squash!!!!    I eat a whole bowl/plate with my homemade tomato, garlic, red onion, olives, and mushrooms sauce, and a 3+ cup serving is like 4-500 cals based on if I can eat the whole thing!  YUM  --   it's so easy too.   I add chicken sometimes.

I was debating makiung that tonight or the bay scallops and bok choy I got.  I've never cooked scallops at home  --- any recipes?  I like bok choy, but I haven't bought any in a long time. I used to steam it -- it was pretty good, but I used to put soy on it which I will not do this time for sodium avoiding purposes.   any ideas there?  maybe balsamic vinegar or is that crazy?  I usually do ICBINB no cal spray butter, so yeah.... help?

and I agree---  I love your challenge.  I accept.   If I fall off, I will get back on because this is my life.   I posted something about it the other day ---  this is life as we know it.  Every day is a new day to make it happen.   ( ;

Sorry, had to do it like that!  I dont know how to do the quote thingy!
I love chicken pieces in spaghetti!!!  I haven't had it like that in a long time!  And mushrooms, my fave!
Unfortunately, I have no idea what bay scallops and bok choy are.  I know that for me a good substitute for soy sauce is honey mustard salad dressing out of the spray bottles.  Also, balsamic vinegar is healthy, so that's good too.
I'm sorry I didn't answer this sooner.  I have so many papers for school and I'm falling behind on everything in life, LOL that's bad and im laughing.  I like your motivation!  I find myself slipping a lot, but yesterday, I walked for an hour and a half so i guess that makes up for it.  I guess weigh ins will be on saturdays, or whenever is good with you and everybody else.  :)
Welcome shadowkatie!  You can still defintely join!  You don't have to do the weigh in's if you cant.  The tape measure is also a great indicator of weight loss.  Good luck and welcome again!
