I am a diet-controlled diabetic type2 , of course I already knew some of the ins and outs due to being born to parents which both where meds. depended. A little over a year ago I had to take meds for somethings else for short period of time and they made me gain ...up to 190, mind you I am only 5'4" med. framed ......not a good compo. Now I am back down to 159 and stuck ...I cut out all the white as they say ....white rice, reg. pasta, white bread and so on ....I eat 3 meals with snacks in between......but nothing seams to work ....I am stuck ...............no down no up .......
Only diffrent is that I had to stop my reg. execises (cross-trainer and weights) due to surgeries, my sec. will b this wed. then I will have to wait at least 3 more month to start up again but was warned I will not be able to go back to my reg. routine......mmhhh....I now try to be on my feet as mcu as I can ....
Still nothing, does anyone has the same prob. or some ideas why this happens ......?
thanks for any help

Also, have you had your thyroid checked? If you are hypothyroid and eating the right number of calories, it would explain why you are not losing the weight that you should.
try to keep my intake at 1000 to 1400.....and yes I had all that done when I started having problems about 2 years ago and kept up with all that ......
I also keep it low fat, if carbs I make sure low amounts and whole wheat rice, pasta, breads .....
a typical day
coffee w/coffee-mate/powder
small bowl of cereal --special K w/2%milk
snack ---either fruit or yogurt
sweet potato w broccoli and little 2% cheese
snack ---same as above
light dinner chicken (grilled,no bone no skin) ceasar salad
snack ---maybe no sugar added fudge bar or fruit
drink water, rarely diet soda
does this help

Are you taking any medications that have weight gain as a side effect?
Anyone else have any ideas?
Hmmm medicines could be an issue. Are there any medicines you are currently taking? If so check the side effects. Lots of meds can make you gain weight or cause you to have a hard time losing weight.
I know you said you had surgery recently and you are about to have another surgery here soon. Lack of activity could also be a reason as well. I know that just lower cal intake can help to lose some weight but you also have to have some activity as well. I saw where you said you do a cross trainer and weights before but can not do that now. Can you do any light walking? If so I would suggest that. You do that outside or even inside. I use the Walk Away the Pounds tapes and they are low impact walking. The main move on these are walking, side steps, small kicks, knee lefts and kick backs.
I am not taken any meds, this is why I am so frustrated about this all. I know I need to take my daily cals in to loose , plus I need to be active .....which I try ...with more walking , stay on my feet as much as I can, take the stairs, park way in the so I have to walk and most of the time I will walk just to walk .......or do anything that's keeping me busy and active .........but nothing
I am now on the same weight for more than 2 month and not even one lb will drop ...![]()
yes, on my peak time I do 45-60 min cross trainer w/low-med-high impact and med. restist plus most of the time another 15-30 min weights .........this was 3 times a week ........
I am just wondering if I do something wrong .......I don't feel well at a higher weight ...never have, so I try to make the best to move into the feel better zone ......
thanks for all the input and answers ......

First, congratulations on losing the 31 lbs you have lost already!!!! That's awesome!?
How long have you been losing for? Could you be at a plateau??
It seems counteractive I know but have you tried to eat more than 1000 to 1400 (always make sure to eat no less than 1200 as 1400 wis probably your BMR and you want to do your best not to eat significantly less than that)?
Like, for example, do 1300 for four days then 1800 for three days, then back to 1200 for-1300 for four days? You might need to find the "right" calorie combination for you so play around a little using the trend line (the green line in the weight log) as an indicator .... So called zigzagging with more calories overall.
Also take a look at the Expert pages, particularly the Nutrition page. There are articles on metabolism and other interesting things which may be useful to you. Also, importantly, since you are diabetic you will want to check with your doctor before you make drastic changes to your diet. There is also an expert on CC with articles and a guide to Diabetes, so check that page out too.
thanks ....
well,I took your advise and ask 2 nutritionist and 1 nurse , all are saying the same my body is in the starving stage and tries to store .......they all said I should do as you mentioned too ......balance a diffrence in cal intake .....like high for a few days and then lower again .........plus keeping up wth being active as much I am allowed til I can go back and work myself back up to the area I used to be ..............
thank you so much .......for all the in-put and help offers
