Weight Loss Supplements?

Quote  |  Reply

Just wondering if anyone is using and/or has had success using weight loss supplements like the pills that claim to reduce appetite, increase metabolism, burn fat, etc. I know that advertising is not permitted on this site, so you don't necessarily have to give the name of the supplement, i guess?

They are all garbage and a waste of time at best, dangerous at worst. Don't even bother. There isn't a single one out there that has been proven to signifcantly help anything.

My favorite is Alli: eat right or crap your pants! It works because it makes you think before you eat or else you're in for a very bad surprise. How f'ing ridiculous is that

There have been some that have been proven to work, unfortunatly they also tended to have some nasty side effects (i.e. death) and aren't legal anymore.

Any product you can buy now is going to say you need to combine it with proper diet and exercise.  If you're willing to do the diet and exercise part then you really don't need the supplement.

Save your money and invest it in a gym membership and healthy food.

I tried them before. Several kinds.

They make me:

Sick to my stomach
Nauseous
Bitchy
Shaky/Dizzy

Of course I didn't want to eat. I felt gross.

I've been using a weight control multivitamin. I didn't think it would actually make me lose weight but I got it cause I wanted to start taking a multi vitamine anyways and figured why not try it. Not sure if it was the right choice or not...any ideas?

30 pounds WITHOUT that crap...it is a marketing dream, but they do nothing for you...it is wasted money.  Watch the calories, exercise and you will lose...no pill can do that or there wouldn't be any over-wieght people around :-)

green tea pills are good for losing weight, becasue they are natural, but just increase your metabolism. I'm not like advertising or anything, I have just tried them, and no nasty side effects. But I did take one and it made me feel like i was going to puke.

I was just reading in a health magazine that a study analyzed 58 weight-loss and muscle building supplements and 13 that had trace amounts of steroids and additives live amphetamines, ephedrine, androstenedione!!! Thats not good.

i take firelean on and off.. its really good for giving you energy but it doesnt suppress apetite, so if your the type of person that likes to eat right after the gym, you might have trouble with it.. also if you dont drink alot of water you get dehydratedd and start to feel dizzy/might vomit.. you also have to have a decent/high tolerance to caffeine.. i tried it and i was ok.. really hyper though and it gave me alot energy but i do it on cycles.. couple days on.. couple days off.. my one friend tried it and she does not have a high cafeine tolerance and she started puking.. im not sure if she drank water or pop tho..

but you dont just take it and magically you loose weight.. all it does is give you a push so you can run faster/longer... you still have to do all the work and make food choices..
