Does anyone use the weight loss/weight training videos in lieu of the gym?

I'm a little self-conscious about goign to the gym and people seeing my less than fit body, so I've used some Denise Austin and some 10 minute toners to get in my 30-60 minute workouts.

Does anyone else use them, and if so, what are your thoughts on these?

Also, do you have any favorite vids?

I personally am quite a fan of 10 min solutions - Dance It Off, and Denise Austin - 5 minute target toners. I feel like I'm burning calories w/o stomping around and aggravating my neighbors!

I dont use workouts in lieu of the gym, but I love tae bo. 
I love Denise Austin. I am currently working a program of kickboxing Mon,Wed, & Fri. Hit The Spot Toning on Tuesday and Saturday and Walking for 60 minutes on Thursday and Sunday. Its working for me! Every 3 weeks I'm going to change the cardio video. Just ordered her Boot Camp video. Can't wait to try it out!

I really like the Firm videos.  I have been using them on and off for years.  They are very controlled and effective for me.   Lately I tried some Billy Blands and his band videos (Boot Camp).  I sort of liked them at first because I really worked hard,  but with a closer look,  I realized that he gets to talking and forgets about the people working out around him LOL.   He says we are going to do three sets of each exercise and then sometimes we end up doing five while his team is yelling and screaming.   I know some of that is for effect,  but for me,  it was sheer pain.   I then thought I would just do the three sets as recommmended and catch my breath with low impact while I wait for the next exercise.   Sometimes I think I can only work my deltoids so many times though,  but I am not an expert by any means.  I got discouraged with it the other day because I really like a well planned work out video.   I am thinking of trying some of his other videos and seeing if they are a little better organized.  On the plus,  the music is great. 

I can also say pretty confidently that the Carmen Electric videos were not worth my money and neither were the Belly Twin videos for belly dancing.  I didn't break a sweat with either. 

I also do not like gyms.  Part of that I think is that I have five children and getting out of the house can be troublesome.  But also it's just the time factor.  Working out of home eliminates the travel time and the need to have child care.

Thanks for the replies, guys!  I agree with jennyrl that the Carmen Electra fall short of their marketing. 

I just really want to be a little toned before I start going to the gym with all the fitness buffs...I don't want to be the one huffing and puffing and using the least amount of weight.  I have a real self-conscious issue with that for some reason!!!  I'm really ready for the warm weather to get here so I can go walk/run outside!!  Cool

Hey! I just started the Firm videos today! I did my first work out just a few minutes ago and loved it! I highly recommend it. It was my favorite christmas present next to the recumbant bike I got. :) (I asked for both)

I won't go to a gym because I got really sick a couple of years ago from some weird bacteria that was at the gym. Not that they are all like that.

I like Denise Austin too but don't have any of her videos and can never catch her at a decent hour on tv.
