No weight loss in 3 weeks

Quote  |  Reply

My first 3 weeks on here I lost 8 lbs. I just weighed after another 3 weeks and no weight loss at all. I have been doing the same thing as last time. Same exercise, same calorie intake. The only difference is I was on antibiotics the last 2 weeks.

Does anyone have any answers as to why I would not have lost anything? I weighed on the same scale and exactly a week after my period just like last time and in the same shoes and clothes.

What gives? Very frustrated.

are you exercising?

Not really. I have some days that I do some upper body yoga and stretching which I would hardly call exercise and it's the same thing I was doing the first 3 weeks when I lost 8 lbs. so doesn't make sense.

I could understand maybe losing 2 lbs or 3 even at minimum but gaining? It's all very odd.

My friend said that people weight all the time on your Doctors scale so maybe it needed to be recalibrated as it was off.

So I took her advice into consideration and bought a nice scale and it said I lost 7 lbs. so I got on it again and it said I gained 2 lbs. and it kept changing everytime I stepped on it so it was not accurate.

The only thing I did different this time is I was on antibiotics for a tooth infection.

your're doing the same stuff...mix it up, change your  exercise routine, work harer (not longer)  take 2 days off of your diet and exercise and start at it harcore

When my body is battling an infection, it screws up my metabolism AND it really messes up my blood sugar levels (I am diabetic.)  Somehow, my body knows that I am sick and goes into full-blown "conserve energy mode" and my weight loss (and metabolism) can come to a screeching halt.

It doesn't last.

Do what you can to get healthy ... are you fully recovered from whatever you were taking antibiotics for? Lots of rest? Liquids? Is the infection all cleared up?

Hope you are feeling better soon!

=^..^= MOLLY

Thanks ladies. I guess I just keep doing what i'm doing and hope the scale catches up with me eventually. I think maybe taking antibiotics was part of it. Maybe there is some fluid retention or something.
Hang in there, shia. I've seen a lot of posts where people didn't lose weight for a long time, then lost of very substantial amount all at once. So don't give up ;) If you're being healthy you will get the effects -- maybe eventually, rather than immediately, but they will come. (((HUG)))
about the scale thing. u probably werent on flat ground. if your on carpet or something soft..it will change like that.

Hi Shi,

Sorry I am just getting back to you, but I hope I have some answers.  First, just by being mega heavy you have built some muscle.  Dragging all that weight around is a tough job, and there has to be muscle there to do all that work.

Second, yes that little bit of workout will go a long way towards toneing up all that muscle.  And you will add some muscle weight during this period.  Keep up the workouts and stretches, they will help you feel better more than just about anything else.

Third, and I know you don't want to hear this, because I still don't want to hear it.  But you are going to have to eat MORE cals of ggod food.  The engine of your body has a small fire burning right now due to the lack of cals.  But if you eat some more cals, and keep to the exercise, you will build a huge, fat burning fire that will eat cals faster than you will be able to believe.

Take another look at my weight chart in my profile.  I lost all that weight because I was willing (given I was kicking and screaming the whole time) to raise my cals when my weight loss began to plateau.  And I slowly made my way from a very simple, all sitting on my bedside workout, to my mind numbing, crazy hard workout.  But I didn't do it overnight.

Shi, it's going to take some time.  At 6 weeks you have only begun the path, and why throw away all the great progress you have made.  If your clothes are loose, if you fit in the seatbelt better, and if your knee hurts less, then you have accomplished much.

Stay strong.  keep to the program.  Bump your cals a couple of hundred a day, and see how things go.

You can do this!!  I know you have it in you!!  To get where you want to go you do have to walk a long, and sometimes difficult path.  But better than not fighting at all.

Hang in there, and shoot me a pm if you want to.

Duke

Duke .........Thanks so much. You just gave me the courage to eat healthier and cleaner foods and exercise more and up them a bit. We'll see what happens in the next 3 weeks. You are right fighting is better then not fighting at all. Thanks so much you just don't know what your post means to me. :

amy_blue........thanks. I know it's true as I have seen so many posts like that and have experienced it myself a long time ago. I will hang in there and hope one day I see the scale drop a substantial amount.

neneokafar.....yes I was on flat ground :) On tile then on lanolium

BTW, I get different numbers on my scale too. DW just weighs herself 3 times, and takes the middle number!!

Duke :)

Ha Ha Duke.........I don't know if I like that idea as I like to see exact results so maye I will stick to measuring or maybe I will find a scale that works properly.

:)
