I have recently semi recovered form a eating disorder. i was 5'3 and weighed aprrox. 94lbs i restricted myself to a less than 1000 calorie a day diet. i have since then done alot better now though i weight 99-100 and eat around 1700 cals a day but i am still conscious about my weight and i am afraid if i eat to much i will gain weight. I am also worried about what i am eating, i eat strictly healthy foods 24/7 and even if i want some junk i do not eat it. I was wondering if anyone can help me out and give me advice on what i should consume throughout the day and will i gain weight from eating these foods. I am very active and play multiple sports and run almost daily.
I used to be in the same situation. I'm 5'7" and at my lowest I weighed 111. I was the same way with only eating super healthy food but I began working out and realized I needed fuel for my workouts. If you workout and don't fuel your body properly, you will do more damage in the long run than good. You want to have the right nutrition so that your body can perform at it's optimal level. Try starting out your breakfast with something high fiber and high protein. I'm a college student so I love Quaker Oatmeal Instant High Fiber oatmeal. To add in some extra protein you can put in about 20 raw almonds. I also really like Atkins protein shakes. For lunch try something like a salad with chickpeas, turkey, chicken, or tofu (or a some of each) and add in as many veggies as you want. On the side have a yogurt or cottage cheese. For dinner try making whole wheat pasta with grilled chicken and steamed broccoli in it and toss the pasta with olive oil. If you're in a hurry, Lean Cuisines are sometimes a great option. You could also try a turkey burger with light mayo and a slice of cheese on it on a whole wheat english muffin with vegetarian chili on the side. As far as snacks go, I love sugar -free pudding, soy crisps, fruit salad, and Cliff Bars. I was scared to death to gain weight too. It's not necessarily certain foods that make you gain weight, it's whether you are in your daily caloric intake zone. If you work out and you're eating 1700 calories a day you won't gain weight. And if you do, it's muscle! Just remember when you step on the scale that it is weighing EVERYTHING and that muscle weighs MORE than fat. Try to make sure you do is take a multivitamin and a calcium supplement. As of now, I eat about 2000-2500 calories a day and workout and I have found that I am able to keep a healthy weight, which is now 123. Every bit of the 12 pounds I gained was lean muscle and it shows. It's hard to overcome an eating disorder, I still battle with it everyday. But keep pushing and you can do it!
hi, iam 51 years, 5'6" and 63kgs when i weighed in last a few days ago. i workout 4-5 days aweek and run almost 5 days a week. i have weighed betwen 62-64kgs for the last so many years even after having hypothyroidism and asthama. this is i feel coz i watch what i eat. i try to eat food which is more or less in its raw state e.g almonds walnuts lots of salad without any dressing, lots of fruits especially seasonal, skimmed milk and homemade yoghurt made out of skimmed milk. when i fel like binging i binge on ice creams(my favorite) but i see that i work out harder the next day and watch my diet too. i fel eating habits are all part of the mind. the more you become aware of yourself, your desires and the benefits of exercise and aware about good nutritional food the faster you will recover from any disorder.
Im kinda the same, 5'2, and 99-100 pounds, and semi- recoverd from anorexia. I came clean and started recovery in Febuary when I was 110. So as you see I have stil lost weight, which I guess isn't nessercerly good(so to maintain eat more).
I used to eat onlt 500 calories a day, but every 2 weeks I add 100 calories, and am now at 1600 daily.
I drink lots of water troughout that day and about 6 ounces at every meal, I also have green tea and 1/4 a grapefruit every morning.
I walk for 20 minutes a day and bike for about 10 minutes.
Try it and see how it goes! Best of luck, let me know how it goes!! =)
bananas are good because they have anywhere from 70-150 calories, and lots of energy. protein bars are good too.
