weight when you have your periods

Quote  |  Reply
I have put on a kilo despite sticking to my calorie intake limit. I have my periods this week and feel kind of bloated. Is there a connection? Does anyone else have the same problem when its that time of the month?

I think most women bloat a little during their period.  I wouldn't worry about it, just keep exercising and sticking to your diet.  If your weight fails to return to normal a week or so after your period, then you can reassess your diet/exercise plan.
I got my time of the month the second week of this diet.  I was sticking to my cal limit and working out 5 xs/wk (which is a lot for me)  I started to gain weight.  Talk about depressing.  I was so fraustrated that I was ready to give up.  I didn't from all the great support here and at home and about 3 days after my period I lost a couple pounds.  It had to be water weight.

Don't give up!  Keep with your calorie intake and maybe don't weigh yourself until after your done with your period.  I know its hard not to (I weigh myself everyday) but it might be worth the sanity!
I gain an average of 3-4 pounds when it is that time of the month. Within the next week it is usually gone. Its been the same way for about a year now so don't worry.
experiencing that 4 montly pounds right now! sorry tmi!  i got frustrated because i look like i am PG!  Ugh!  hopefully, i'll slim down here in a couple of days.  What we women go thru!
I hope the reason the scales were up this morning was coz I am on day 2/3 of my period then. I haven't really followed my weight at TTOM before so I guess I'll just have to grin and bear it.
its just water weight

I am frustrated too.  I followed my eating plan this week and I exercised this week... I am up two pounds as well.  I usually start my period on the 10th of the month (give or take a day).  So I guess that is what the extra weight is.

Just curious, about how many days BEFORE your period do you notice the weight gain (from water retention)?  And about when do you normally lose it....back to where you were?  A few days into your period, after it's completely over?  I know that we are all different but thought I'd ask.  Thanks.

Michelle, I stepped on the scales today and found that I was 2 pounds heavier than two weeks ago...and i know I've been following my calories as normal! The only thing I can put it down to is the fact that I am due on my period in 6 days.....I think my bloating starts a whole week before, and is usually gone by day 4 of the period.
