I didn't see anything similar posted so hopefully this doesn't sound too odd.  I need some alternative things to use for weights.  And not to come off rude, but If you're just going to say go join a gym or buy real ones, please spare me right now.  I work freelance and when people start to realize that they actually do have to pay me on schedule (since they want their work on time) then that'll be feasible.  But for right now I need some ideas.

Cardio is little boring and I'm not seeing any differences.  Yes I can feel that certain areas are more toned but the extra fat hasn't really budged.  I weighted down my gazelle foot pads with dive weights so there's 10# of resistance there because otherwise even pushing I'm just not feeling it on that thing.  I've been using it for a year now and the weight I've lost is nowhere what I wanted to be at by this point of time.

If anyone has ideas that'd really be a help right now.  I have a get together in December and I"m really trying to look good for then.

Water bottles (full) work for smaller weights.  A backpack full of heavy books would work for a heavier weight (for squats or stuff like that).

Bags of sand.

Someone was saying they filled pop bottles with rocks.

Try filling bottles or tuberware containers with water, sand, rocks, leftovers... anything heavy you have around.

Big soup cans and heavy bags/backpacks work well too.

You can also try milk/orange juice gallon jugs. They have handles and can be filled with water or sand.

a contractor bag (can be found at Home Depot or Menards) filled with sand to the level that you want to lift (I guess you could have multiple contractor bags at different levels). Then carry it around. Carry it up a hill. Try to run with it. Carry it on your shoulders. etc.

Milk bottles filled with sand are another great suggestion (for the dumbbell effect). Also, the ginormous cans of food at places like Costco or GFS can be great weights for tricep lifts and other low weight exercises (and if you get hungry, and no one has paid you so food is low around the house, at least you've got something to eat!)

A resistance band is not expensive and can sometimes mimic weights for working your biceps, triceps, hamstrings, adductors, abductors etc,  If you cant afford the band you can duplicate some of the movements even with a towel.  Good Luck

Thanks everyone.  I've got a couple resistance bands from my knee injury, looking into other exercises for arms to use those a little more.  The milk jugs are a great idea and were literally one of those 'duh' moments since I just hadn't considered it!

Medicine balls are pretty cheap.  You can try the used sporting goods store.  I can do a very intense workout with a 10lb ball.  That plus some resistance bands and you can get a pretty decent workout.

A friend of mine filled a basketball with sand.  It can get heavy so be careful.
