As joining the gym is out of the question for me right now, does anyone have any suggestions for doing it at home??
I have yoga dvds..(just have to plug them in and actually use them) and walking is an option but I am concerned about the upper body strength and the severe jiggling of my upper arms is going to hurt someone!!!!
Thanks
Good Morning,
I don't belong to a gym. I started walking in March for maybe .5 miles. It was cold and there was still snow on the ground. I did it anyway. Then I found exersise TV on my cable's DEMAND channel. I started with Yoga ( 10 mins). Then I found the 30 Day Shred, Level 1. I went to WAL-Mart and bought (2) 5 lbs hand weights and a Yoga mat. I think it came to $20.
I now use 10 lbs weights($14 total) and walk 5.5 miles, I'm on Level 2 , of the 30 Day Shred. Many of the plank poses firm up your biceps and triceps. I have muscle and my under arms have almost no wobbly skin. I've lost almost 4 inches around my waist, just doing these workouts in my living room. I also do 2 more Yoga practises and a 10 min Yoga core practise that I must say is killer.
So far I've spent $34 on equipment and I'm very happy with the outcome.
I really think that the muscles really are boosting my metabolism. I was loosing about 1.25 lbs a week. Now I'm at 1.50 a week. So far 22.50 lbs lost.
Good luck and keep moving ![]()

Thanks Anne, great suggestions....also nice to hear that this is not taking years to start to see and feel a difference....hope I can do 1/2 as well
Hi, Just wanted to say tht I also like the 30 day shred. After a while I wanted to increase the time so I bought Jillians Boost your metabolism dvd which is 45 minutes. It is a pure cardio work out and it is exhausting, but I have to say I like the 30 day shred better beause it hs the upper body workout incorporated. SO I do level 2 and then 1. Both are hard I looked at level 3 but there is alot of jumping and I dont want to abuse my knees. I am also running and I think the shred workout really helped to increase strength which makes the running easier. Good Luck.
I like The Firm videos. I've used them for years off and on. Lately I haven't. You can look into all kinds of videos out on this website, including The Firm:

If you have Netflix, you can get many of these to try out before you buy them!
Good luck with it! I need to get myself using my videos and weights, too.
Cheers!
I am doing Joyce Vedral's weight training dvd's and love them. I started with Weight Training Made Easy and so far so good. It has been almost 2 weeks now and I already feel better and am losing the arm jiggle.
