What makes it so low cal?
Are the slices just a lot smaller (than technically itd just be a ripoff, cause its more expneisve a loaf too)
Would whole wheat be better, or multigrain?
i don't eat it anymore, but i used to. both varieties (ww and multi) are flavorful. the multigrain tastes better, tho i usu opted for the ww to save like 2 calories or whatever. the thing that's good about the multigrain is that it doesn't have any added sugars at all, so it's a bit healthier.
the size of the slices is normal. many "lite" breads are normal sliced (except for "very thin," which is like totally maniacal. but they're not as dense as regular bread; in short, there's more air than flour. i have to say that among all the "lite" breads i tried, i liked ww the best.
eventually i gave up on diet breads, though, and i just want to say that bec it IS important for chronic dieters like myself to eat diet everything. my favorite healthy bread taste-wise was Ezekiel sesame. my favorite healthy bread health-wise was The Baker whole grain bran or whole grain flax (ain't nothin but nutrients in there).
I think I'll give Multigrain a try, it seems healthier than the whole wheat I suppose...
WW breads are like double the price??
But at the moment, I'm feeling a little ripped off. At $3 a loaf (less grams, and more expensive than a regular loaf), its almost double the price. How can i really justify that!
It better taste amazing :P
I looked for other low-cal breads but couldnt find any :(
c_jamie,
dieters will do anything to save calories, and companies like weight watchers are definitely wise to that. as a result, we pay more money for 100-calorie snack packs and flavored water and sugar-free cookies and low fat "cheese" and lite bread and "fit n easy" packs of single-serve chicken breast and nutrition bars and...
so proud of you for buying the multigrain. it's delicious. but i mistyped my post--i meant to write that it's important for chronic dieters like myself to STOP buying diet everything (which is why i started exploring healthy breads that weren't calorie-reduced, like ezekiel and The Baker).
there's nothing to justify the price difference. capitalism preys on those desires we hold onto most revently. best of luck, though.
I agree, it is important that we stop buying ridiculously overpriced 'diet' things.
And realistically, the 80-or-so calorie difference b/w a regular cheaper loaf for 2 slices of bread is really not a HUGE difference.... its really not going to make me put on pounds!
But the idea of 100 cals for 2 slices just sounds so much better! silly chronic dieters i guess :) only those suckers can get gimmicked into buying those (me)
oh well, i guess that $3 loaf is going to last me a LONG time anyways (its just me eating it, and i'm going to freeze it so it doesnt go bad... hope its okay!) so its not a big deal, its just the principle!
I buy fat free cheese, except its the same amount and price :) THAT I can justify.
Had my first two slice today - its ok, nothing to jump around about but if I can eat a sandwich with 80 cals for the bread I am happy.
Would I rather have two slice of my grandmothers homemade white bread? No, I rather have the whole loaf!
As far as the price goes where I am from its about the same as other bread unless you buy something like wonderbread or other bread the squishes to the roof of your mouth ![]()

I've never seen ww bread anywhere, but there's a brand called Healthy Life that has a lot of different low cal versions of breads (italian, white, rye, wheat) for either 35 or 40 cal p/slice. most major grocery stores have 'em
Hands down the best bread Ive ever eaten, my Pathmark only carries it like once every 3-4 months so I usually stock up my freezer when I see it.
35 calories and whole per slice is a pretty sweet deal!
Where do you find the weight watcher bread and bagels.....i have not been able to find them anywhere?
My Aunt's family always has the whole wheat weight watchers bread. It's nice that it's low in calories, but personally I think it's way too thin and falls apart easily. I tried to make a peanut butter sandwich and it got destroyed lol.
Truthfully, I think the only reason I don't buy it is because of how expensive it is.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
