I just wanted to give a big HELLO to all my team mates. Good luck to you all.
Good Morning everyone!
This is only my first challenge but I think it will be great motivation.
Good luck to you all- Let's loose big!

Hi fellow team mates! This is such a great motivation! Good luck to all of you!
Hi, everyone! I'm so excited to be taking part in this challenge--I've never done one before but I'm hoping this will provide that extra bit of motivation that I usually need after a few weeks. Anyway, so maybe we should each post a bit about ourselves? I'll start.
So I'm a 26 year old medical student currently living in Arkansas. I just finished my second year, and as it's quite stressful, the weight I put on during my glory days in college in New Orleans (45 lbs! I gained the freshman 15 every year I was there--:( hasn't come off like I would have liked. Anyway, I'm 5'3", as of today 150.8 lbs, BMI 26.6, and my eventual goal weight is b/t 115 and 120 lbs. I'm currently spending the summer studying for my board exam, which gives me plenty of time to exercise--except that I've been spending most of that time sleeping instead. Oh, glorious sleep :) Anyway, that's where the challenge comes in--I don't want to let my teammates down, so I'll just have to get my lazy butt up and go do something. Third year starts in about 2 months, and hopefully I'll be much more active then as it's the first of our clinical years and is usually a 60-hr work week spent running around the hospital doing scut work for attendings. Anyway, sorry to talk so much about school, but the running (and true) joke is...life of a medical student--you have absolutely nothing else in your life to talk about but medical school lol!
My other goal for next year--since I've been lacking on the drama-in-my-life department for the last two years, I'm hoping next year will be as exciting and sexy as Grey's Anatomy once I'm on the wards--without all the ridiculousness like drowning and coming back to life after a ferryboat accident haha!
Anyway, that's me. I'm so glad to meet everyone and take part in this with you. Good luck to all, and I promise I'll (try) not to let you down!

A big hello to everyone. I'm very excited about joining this challenge -- haven't done one before and like the idea of extra accountability. I'm 36, 5'4" and 169 with a BMI of 29. I am also the proud and busy mother of 2 toddler boys (ages 2 3/4 and 4) and a newborn (10 weeks). So if you notice, I posted a pretty high daily calorie intake (1900) but that's because I'm nursing. I've been doing that for a few weeks and i'm still get hungry a lot and have been losing...I'm also trying to limit sugar and refined carbs so actually sometimes eating 1900 with a lot of vegetables isn't very easy as well as resisting the urge to clean off my kids' toddler plates :)
I gained a lot with all my last two pregnancies and lost it with Weight Watchers & running (ran 2 marathons before getting pregnant again). Now it's time to do the same for this one -- I'm still 25 pounds heavier than when I got pregnant. I hope to lose a good amount of that in the next 10 weeks otherwise I am going to have to buy some new (bigger) clothes and I'm determined not to do that.
I am also working 3/4 time (child psychologist), so my biggest challenge is to get in the exercise. Fortunately my baby is showing signs of sleeping through the night so I might be able to get up early, nurse, and run before getting the kids to preschool and me to work.
Good luck to everyone.

Hello! Like a lot of you, this is my first challenge. I'm 5'2", 152.5 lbs, with a BMI of 27.9. I am a stay at home mom and college student with 2 boys (3 if u count hubby :)), ages 4 years and 10 months.
I'm trying to lose the rest of this baby fat! So far, I have lost 10 lbs, and I've got 16 to go to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Eventually, I want to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight before my first son--120 lbs.
cdanda: Great for you and baby for deciding to breastfeed! :) I am breastfeeding too, although not nearly as often as you are, I'm sure! Those early days are pretty tough. I hope it went more smoothly for you than it did for me :).
Well, good luck to everyone. Let's kick butt! Lol

Hello Team 1! My name is Amy and this is my first challenge. I have been lurking on the board for a few months though.
I am 34 years old, 5'7" and 174.4 lbs., BMI of 27.2 I am single (no kids, never been married). I have a med-large frame -- usually anything between 150 - 160 is a size 8 for me. Last year I lost 35-40 lbs by exercising and undereating. I have gained back about 20 lbs. since early October of last year when I stopped exercising.
I know I can do this, I just struggle to commit. I have been a little depressed lately mostly about being 34 and single. It's not so much about not having a man (I just got dumped a couple of weeks ago after a short, not really serious relationship). It's more that I really want to have children and I am starting to feel like it's too late.
Last week I also started doing an exercise program though my job (I work for a very large company and it's a national contest of sorts). I am also working out a couple of times a week with a friend. I am hoping between those two things and this challenge, I can find my motivation to make this lifestyle change and be healthy.
Nice to meet all of you... GO TEAM 1!!!

Amy:
Just so you know, I didn't have my first child until 32 1/2 - now I have 3 -- all happy and healthy for the most part (one has asthma). After 35 you are of "AMA" of advanced maternal age, but the stats aren't that different really about having healthy babies. And hey the babies keep you young :) Sounds like you have a good exercise plan.
someday-I-will:
glad to know there's other mom's (and breastfeeding) out there too. It was actually a little tough early on, but now he's a champion feeder, growing like a weed. And it's amazing how much better I feel waking up with a solid 5 to 6 hours. Sometimes you don't even realize it till it happens.
Cheers everyone!

I did lose down to about 145 about a year ago. But.. what do ya know.. I got married in Feb and gained! So.. Hopefully this challenge will be something good! Its gotta be! :)

FELLOW TEAM ONE MEMBERS:
I am glad to read about all your "babies"! I am 37, with NO children (can't... so I will live vicariously through your breastfeeding stories, etc.) I am 5'3" and 144.5 (as of this AM) I am usually quite active, but have been in a slump lately. I topped out at 155 last winter, and got back on track... I am now a size 8-10 and go about 145-150 regularly. I got down to 138, but couldn't budge past that.. I started training for a marathon, and then the eating went out the window... I am ALWAYS hungry. The guys at work laugh at me and tell me that I eat like a man, and the truth is, I usually can! Save me the posts about drinking water.......... I drink water ALL DAY, more than most, sometimes I think too much. I don't drink soda (they call it POP here in Buffalo, NY) and I only drink the sports drinks when I do my long runs. I drink coffee and tea, and chew gum.............anyone have any advice?????

I found that I got down to 143 and then couldn't budge when I was training for my marathon -- like you I was ALWAYS hugnry and really needed the energy to run/train. I have actually heard it is hard to lose weight (to some extent) while training for a marathon b/c of the intense calorie needs -- you really can't skimp much if you're body needs the fuel. I would make sure you're eating enough calories to make sure you're body isn't letting you take any more off in case it needs it. I also think drinking sports drink/energy gels is good during the runs as that's when you're body will really use it. I found I was less hungry if I fueled during the runs.
For now, I'm going to stick with half-marathons and see if I can get back down to 143 and beyond (135 would be great). Good luck.

Thanks cdanda... I am going to run a 1/2 this fall instead of a full...... there is a local race in September which makes it easy (you don't have to travel) plus I am getting married the following Saturday, and my "hen party" is all my pals running the 1/2 with me!
I am not training now, just running for enjoyment. Any suggestions for keeping the spoon OUT of my mouth? Whether it's filled with a midnight dose of peanut butter or cool whip... it all adds up.
Good luck w/your training

Hope Day 3 all is going well. I have been up for 3 hours already!!! I work swing shifts and was wondering if any of my other teammates work swing shift, and what they do when they get the 'hungries' and have already maxed out on calories. I am usually good the first night, but by day five of midnights, I eat breakfast when I get home (to fill my tummy before bed), wake up around 12 or so and eat a light lunch, then dinner with the family, then (maybe, if I'm lucky) a nap before work, and then BAM!!!! I am awake, and want to eat!! I know I shouldn't eat before bed, but when it's a matter of sleep, I won't compromise~~~~~~ I love sleep!!
I rotate this shift, so I work it on average once a month. I have been pretty good rotating from days to afternoons, but the midnights play havoc with my sleep, eating and exercising.
Help!

yes, I imagine that the swing shifts can wreak havoc. I was going to joke and say the best way to beat the midnight munchies is to go to bed before then :) but looks like that won't work. The other thing is to just plan something for that time -- if it's a pattern, just make it part of your eating day.
For example, I usually pack something to eat on the way home from work so I'm not famished and picking at everything as I'm getting ready for dinner or just raid the fridge. If I don't, I'm in TROUBLE.
Good luck.
