Weird cravings- blueberry?!
Hi everyone,
Since I've stopped starving myself (600 or less calories a day... I almost can't believe I did that) I've been doing pretty well. But for the last two weeks or so, I've had the STRANGEST craving... for blueberry!
I still eat plenty of fruits, fibers, whole grains, and protein... maybe a little less veggies than I'm used to. I don't eat fast food. I take vitamins. So, I shouldn't be craving things, right?.... RIGHT?! haha, but really, what could this strange blueberry craving be caused by?
Oh, and it's not even the actual fruit. Like, I am absolutely in love with the new Blueberry Mini Wheats cereal... and I fully intend on treating myself to a 400 calorie reduced fat Dunkin' Donuts blueberry muffin for breakfast before work today, since I'm working my retail job today and not my desk job, I'll be able to burn it off in no time ![]()
Any ideas? This is so unlike me... usually around PMS time, it's CHOCOLATE NOW!!!! cravings but that's all!
hahahahaha... blueberry queen at your service. :)
they're the first food i ever ate, and i've eaten them every day since then minus my eating disorder. lol.
i know you said it's not actually the fruit, but the fruit is totally the best part! here are some of both, though:
-frozen blueberries in a bowl (just let them thaw 5ish minutes first) with whipped cream. this is my night-time craving.
-frozen blueberries in cereal, yogurt, or cottage cheese.
-dried blueberries in yogurt or with trail mix (especially white and dark chocolate, yum!).
-in smoothies.
-blueberry bagels!!! love cream cheese with this.
-blueberry pancakes. (i don't like syrup but there is such thing as blueberry syrup. i make my own sauce by heating up frozen blueberries with sugar.)
-blueberry muffins!!!
-in homemade ice cream. you can thaw out some of the blueberries from the frozen package, squeeze the juice into your ice cream, then put the rest of the berries inside. it's purple!!! :)
ah!!! have fun with this food! and yes, cravings are soo normal, even without restricting.
Maybe it's just because you like the bluberry flavour??? ;p
Enjoy your muffin :)
you know what i really love?
fresh blueberries dipped in a tiny bit of nutella.
it's awesome.
you dont even need much nutella as the flavor is quite piercing :]
To blueberry_lips: what an appropriate user name for this post! haha, I saw it in my inbox and nearly lol-ed. I am a huuuuge fan of blueberry bagels and muffins, don't really like pancakes in general... I'm going to have to try them in cereals :)
vanilla_swirl: It's odd, I never used to like the flabor! I totally enjoyed the muffin. And it turns out, I didn't work today (after I drove ALL THE WAY THERE) but I'm still feeling guiltless about my indulgence... Happy to feel this way.
international_chick: I'm afraid I don't even know what nutella is?
Nutella is chocolate-flavored hazelnut butter
Haha, I've been experiencing this lately too!! I can literally chug down several cups of blueberries in one sitting. I;m not entirely sure why either lol... maybe it's because they're so convenient. You don't have to peel or cut anything. Just wash and EAT!
Those are some neat ideas, blueberry_lips. These could prove really helpful as I continue to re-introduce pastries and smoothies after my ED. B)
Well, of all the things to crave, that's a LOT better than chocolate! ;)
As to why you would be craving them ...
... but ...
Blueberries have been in the news recently for their "memory boosting" power - they can actually help you repair (yes, repair) your brain in such a manor that allows you to recall memories (old and new) better. Also, they're supposed to help with keeping a slim waste-line (http://www.ur.umich.edu/0809/Apr27_09/13.php). AND, they're supposed to also help with coordination and restoring balance.
Calling blueberries a super food is an understatement >.<
I always keep at least one container in the fridge of blueberries and toss them on whatever I have for breakfast (cereal, yogurt, etc). They are EXCELLENT in muffins!! :)
OH - and YES you will crave things even though you're taking vitamins ;) Although vitamins provide a lot of great nutrients, they're lacking just as many. I'm *always* craving soy milk and peanut butter, which might be because I don't eat enough protein {shrug}; which isn't supplied by a multivitamin.
Anyhoos, enjoy your new blueberry passion :D
Pop-tart's has a new blueberry muffin flavor...it's pretty good. Doesn't really taste like a blueberry muffin though. Lmao. But you can def. taste that fake blueberry goodness! :P
Damn, I really don't eat healthy 100 percent of the time. ;)
I personally love frozen blueberries of the fresh kind though. Even better then frozen grapes. Heh. They taste great with cottage cheese. :)
I love blueberries but for some reason I get those "artifical blueberry flavored item" cravings every now and then. You know, for like a blueberry Poptart or a muffin and the like. Crazy.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
