Hi All,

Does anyone have any weird food habits that may be sabotaging their diets?  If so, post them here!

Here are a few of mine (some are new and some I've had for a while!):

I buy Cinamon Raisin bagels or Blueberry bagels and pick out the raisins or blueberries and eat them with cream- cheese.  I usually discard the rest of the bagel (well, MOST of it but not all of it).

I pick the nut clusters out of dry cereal and usually discard the flakes.

I eat the chunks of cookie dough out of cookie dough ice-cream and usually discard the ACTUAL ice-cream.

I add steamed brocolli to almost everything that I eat.  I'm addicted. 

this one is weird.... I sometimes eat flavored oatmeal dry.

Mine aren't too weird but not normal still ;p....also that is good about the steamed broccoli!!

Sometimes I eat dry hot chocolate mix.

I have been known to make myself sick to my stomach on chocolate or donuts.  Can't have them in the house.

omg i love dry hot cocoa mix :) . . . actually anything chocolate lol

i am addicted to peanut butter too... i will eat it with almost anything - mixed w/ cereal, on numerous fruits and veggies, on cheese (lol im crazy i kno)... its a good source of protein but so many calories :-P ... its also amazing with ice cream - god i am so bad XD

Mine is weird, or so I've been told! But its filling, yum, high protein and low fat/cal. I mash up tinned tuna with boiled egg (no yolk), put in some cracked pepper and eat it either by itself or on toast....

My mom used to do that with cookie dough ice cream!

Which reminds me...when I was little I took out all the marshmallows out of Lucky Charms...and then completely shrugging my shoulders when asked what happened...LOL.

 Actually I do a variation of this, I eat unsweetened cocoa powder, Equal and unsweetend almond milk, its yummy!

I also used to eat dry oatmeal packets. 

I took them to school and ate them at lunch with a spoon.  I endured horrible tormenting from my friends.

Guilty of that one XD  And the hot chocolate mix =]

Instead of gorging on ice cream, I'll eat an entire 650mL tub of yogurt in about 15 minutes.  It's a bit healthier - but never the less, its an addictive and unhealthy behaviour.

Don't know whether you've had the Lemon Merangue yogurt.  Source makes it in their "Dessert" line.. but that's what usually gets me scooping.

I dont know how weird mine are.. but anyways Laughing

-I like to freeze EVERYTHING, from fruit to frozen soymilk. I love the idea it takes 100 times longer to eat.

-I love honey on anything and everything, from meat to veggies.

-I enjoy picking out the dried fruit in breakfast cereals.

-I eat the toppings off things first, for instance, Ill eat the topping off a pizza first then nibble on the crust for a while.

-I stir my coffee with a cinamon stick.

-I used to like eating dried spaghetti.. lol

-I have to eat the crust off the bread first.

I make strange sandwiches according to other's standards.
I put any kind of dry flakey cereal (bran flakes/oatflakes/special k etc) inside a peanut butter and avocado sandwich - it is the best thing in the world. It makes it all crunchy and wonderful :D

I used to stick raisens in my boiled egg when I was little, havent done that one for a while..

I was making cocoa on the stove last night, and as the milk and powder was heating up in the pan I was dipping and oatcake into it and eating it.

I think almond butter is a wonderful addition to ANY meal - sweet/savoury/fruit/veg/stirred into rice etc...I have yet to find something that cant be improved by it.

 You're not the only one. Wink

  • I used to eat dry mini-ravioli (I just called them "square noodles")
  • I always eat all the crust off of my bread first
  • I always start my meal with eating all my veggies first, and then the main dish.
  • I used to dip chicken nuggets and french fries in honey. Talk about a sweet and salty thing. O_o
  • I sometimes eat dry protein powder.
  • I mix my yogurt with cottage cheese.

Man, I know there's a lot more - I'm a bizzare child. Hahah. If I think of some, I'll edit.

When I was little I loved to eat dry pancake mix. I would take a bit spoonful of it....or mix it with water (aka batter) and eat it. It drove my mother crazy.

Ok and I don't know if any of you have tried the vegan Smart Balance buttery spread, but when I was vegan I did. And, well....It is one of the best things I have ever tasted, especially the kind with Omega-3 Fatty Acids. I would never just eat plain butter or margarine, but there were many a times when I would spoon that delicious stuff straight from the tub into my mouth. Seriously yum, I don't even know why--it sounds disgusting! But if you try it I almost guarantee you will agree! Haha....serious diet sabotage right there.

my weird habit is that i put ketchup on almost everything. my co-worker got grossed out when i told her i put ketchup on my tuna sandwiches.

One time when I was flatting I was really low on money and had nothing but healthy food in the house but I got this big craving for something sweet so I melted some honey in the microwave and poured it over a cup of sunflower seeds, stirred it all together then ate it with a spoon. It was surprisingly good. I LOVE honey. I will have it on toast, melted and poured on banana, mixed into a homemade muesli, on it's own via a teaspoon - whatever.

I will buy salted pretzels- only to pick every fleck off.

I adore Nestle Smarties. I suck on them individually, and when the case splits in two I spit them out, open them, eat the half of the shell without chocolate, then I suck the chocolate off the other half off the shell, before finally eating the last bits of the candy casing. It takes me FOREVER to eat a box of smarties!

I wrap single baby spinach leaves around individual blueberries and pop 'em into my mouth- great snacking!

I dip baby carrots in fruit-flavoured yogurt.

I like Cheerios in PB & J sandwiches.. I also love Cheerios on my ice cream... Its just so oatey good and crunchy ;)

I am sure I have other weird habits.. but they just don't look weird to me. I have been called on the Cheerios thing quite often.. but usually when people try it they agree it is wholesome goodness ^^"

-I ALWAYS eat cereal with yogurt; I'm lactose intolerant and soymilk isn't my cup o' tea - and neither is rice milk.  I like nut milk but we don't have many places that sell it around here.

-Ketchup & peas; ketchup and baby carrots; ketchup and potato chips; ketchup and bread...


-I do a lot of those "picking" things, too - the pecans out of butter pecan ice cream, the chips out of chocolate chip ice cream...

-I love love love dry oatmeal!  Or dry oatmeal mixed with yogurt.

-I like the white part of an orange peel; NOT the outside rind.  But the inner part :D

-Dry ramen noodles; crushed and season packet added

-Pickles on my grilled cheese

-Canned super mini baby shimp mixed with cocktail sauce, then eaten on plain rice cakes or crackers

 

Haha - not TOO bizerk, but weird enough.

i always eat the dried fruit and nuts out of muesli as a snack, and i replace whole meals with low fat ricotta on crackers or corn thins, something weird on its own is that i never eat chocolate, icecream, take out, lollies

like ever

not because they're "banned" just because i dont ever want them anymore.

weird i know but it sure helps with the weight management

 

i also eat hommus dip by itself, off my finger haha

and i eat sliced cucumber by itself !

this is making me hungry, im out :)

 I did that a few times at my grandma's house when I was a lot younger, only sadly it wasn't even Smart Balance - it was "butter-flavored" Crisco! O_O
