Hi All,

Does anyone have any weird food habits that may be sabotaging their diets?  If so, post them here!

Here are a few of mine:

I buy Cinamon Raisin bagels and pick out the raisins and eat them with cream- cheese.  I usually discard the rest of the bagel (well, MOST of it but not all of it).

I pick the nut clusters out of dry cereal and usually discard the flakes.

this one is weird.... I can eat flavored oatmeal dry.

Post yours!

I can eat a whole box of Count Chocula in one sitting.  I love, love flavored oatmeal dry.  I love, love chocolate pop tarts, Okay, I love chocolate and I am working on that!!!

But, I put Yellow Mustard on everything from salads to meat.  Yumm-o and that is healthy!!!  :-)
cereal is my weakness too!  I can easily go through a box, so I have to be careful!  I try to buy cereal that only has like 7 servings per box as opposed to 14!

You're right...mustard is a good food addiction!

p.s.... I always eat the chocolate pieces out of the new Special K Chocolate cereal!
I dont think I have any weird healthy food habits (yet) but a not so healthy one is...I used to love putting Doritos (nacho cheese flavoured) on my peanut butter & strawberry jelly sandwhich.
I agree with mustard....I actually put mustard on my toast instead of butter...

Also, I love to put cold ricotta cheese on my toast too!
pickle spears dipped in mustard :)

I eat dry ramen noodles too, they are crunchy like a cracker not like dry pasta.  They aren't very healthy though!

I also like cookies frozen.  When I make chocolate chip cookies in particular I always freeze some and then crunch them up.  Frozen Thin Mints are awfully good too.
i second that, ellybell. thin mints are like frozen heaven (:
i haven't had them in a long time...
I love doritos on my pb sandwiches too.  Any chip on any sandwich usually works for me.  I like crunchy.

Lately I have been eating whole bags of white cheddar quaker soy crips.  They are the most addictive snack food I have ever encountered.  Fat Free Pringles are up there too though.
  • As a snack sometimes | eat lettuce with some mustard on it. (Sometimes |'ll wrap carrots in it too)

  • When | make my sandwiches, instead of using mayo, | use mustard.

  • | add water to my milk to thin it out and make it stretched out more.

I make cookie dough and eat it all without baking cookies.  I make it just to keep in the fridge or freezer in case I have a craving.  Bad, but so GOOD!!
I hardly ever eat fruit plain - like biting into an apple. It has to be chopped up, if not warm (pears, apples, bananas) or frozen (grapes, berries, oranges, bananas)

I microwave my weetbix using only water, and eat them with hot fruit

I only ever have 1/2 c of a type liqud at a time. Otherwise I get too full and bored and can't eat!! (so breakfast is 1/2 c of milk, 1.2 c juice)

I use peanut butter as a topping for my soy icecream - microave about 15 g of it with a dash of soy milk.

I eat the best bits last. Eg. when I have my icecream peanut butter treat, I eat under the peanut butter, at the icecream, and save the PB til the very last.

I can't have 'one thing' for breakfast. I'd rather have 1/3 of three things. eg Cant just have a bowl of fruit-topped cereal. Will hav e 1/2 a bowl of that, with a 1/2 glass of milk seperate, with an egg, or a crumpet.
ANd I hate the white bits in the orange, so i peel eat segment (usually i get too laxy and eat them, but i try to avoid the white bits) I shoudl just buy mandarin slices that are pre peeled, huh?

I do the same thing red herring--I save the best part of my food for last.  I also cut up apples, and get all the white part of the orange off before I eat it!
I eat the whole apple, except the stem... hahaha. That's my weirdest one I think.
I also eat the best parts last!

Stlgirl, I do the same thing with bananas and sugar-free chocolate pudding.  Putting that on toast is also soooo good!

I tend to "pick things out" alot.  Like, I'll buy muffins and pick out and eat the blueberries and stuff.

I'm a food mutilator!

when I was a kid I would eat the crust off of bagels first so that there was only the dough ring left and then I would savor that part.  I would do the same with croissants and even mozzarella sticks!  Crazy, I know.
If there's a show on tv that my family and I are watching, I always want to have a snack, even if I'm not hungry. So usually I'll wait until I'm hungry to have an apple or something around then. Or, I'll have a diet soda or a calorie-free drink.

I also eat things I like really slow. When eating yogurt, instead of sticking the whole spoon in my mouth, I lightly lick each spoonful. I also don't chew things I don't have to. Instead of chewing dry cereal, I suck on it! It takes me half of a class period to finish a bag of dry fruity cheerios.. :P
I also microwave peanut butter and then add ice cream! I thought I was the only one!

I used to put a little cake mix in a cup, add water, stir, then eat it.

When I was little, my mom and I used to take wonder bread, peel off the crust, slather butter all over it, then roll the bread into a ball, and dip the whole thing in sugar.

My mom, when she was pregnant with me, often had a craving for a dill pickle, smeared in tons of peanut butter, then wrapped in bologna. I never acquired a taste for that myself though!

My daughter likes to put a black olive on each finger, then eat them off one by one...
I used to do that with the olives.  I would drink the juice out of the can too ... must've had a salt craving or something!
If I'm eating a cream soup, I never actually eat a spoonful of it.  I dip the spoon in and coat it, then lick that ... gracefully, of course. ;-)

I did that when I wasn't counting calories...
Lysistrata, I used to do the same thing with olive juice!  It was so good and salty!  I grew up in a health-nut household, so maybe that made up for the fact that we didn't have any soda!
