I really weird question about fat.... seriously
I just started doing some heavy aerobic activity in the last 2-3 weeks.
I'm about 80lbs overweight. My stomach before was hard. I mean if I
were to poke, or squeeze the fat on my belly it would be pretty solid.
Now after these weeks of working out I have noticed that it is
"squishy" more Jelly like than solid. Is this a good sign? Does it mean
the fat is starting to break up or something?
This is a serious question I'm not trying to be funny.
Are you talking about fat on your upper abdomen or lower abdomen or near your navel?
Near and around my navel. Basically My whole mid section and I've notice my arms too. But mostly the stomach region
Its pretty common to look 'worse' as you start to lose weight, more dimply/softer, don't worry tho, it sounds like your going down the right path.
This is a good thing!
I think I can put a little bit of your fears to rest.....when I first started losing weight I noticed the same thing. I have stretch marks on my love handles and when my fat was getting squishy, I was like O-M-G!.....I'm going to have loose skin!.....Disgusting thoughts of loose skin on my sides rushed into my brain along with illustrations of me with these skin flaps resembling hound dog ears flopping down bymy thighs!....anyways...I kept on working out and the fat shrunk and the skin shrunk back with it...and nothing sloppy was left hanging out like I feared....I don't know if its a good sign or anything like that, but i'm pretty sure If you keep losing and can get to around 15-20% body fat then you shouldn't have much jiggle jangling around anymore. And just because your fat feels loose, it doesn't mean that your skin is.
Good for you on the work outs! It sounds like they are working. Keep it up!
The fat cells shrink faster than your skin so you're going to have 'squooshy' stages every now and then... but it'll catch up.

happening with me too...
Does this mean my batwing arms will tighten up?
same thing to me... I'm glad someone posted this question. I've been looking, but it's been hard to find an answer when people don't know the difference between loose and lose.
or shtoopid and stupid? lol i kid!
When I lose alot of weight, my skin feels kind of loose, right?
i know exactly what you saying.
I've lost weight in little spurts, not an even progression. I'll go weeks at the same weight, then suddenly drop 3 pounds. Just before one of these drops, I always notice squishy soft fat. I have no idea what that means, but I have noticed it.
I hate this so much!! I feel like I look fatter since working out and eating healthy. Of course, I'm not, but everything is... loose and gross. I'm not supposed to have NEW rolls.
How long will this last?
Thank you everyone for all of your answers! It was so helpful and inspiring to keep moving. I've felt very discouraged for 2 months now. I forgot how psyched I was when I posted this about my weight loss. Thank you all for your comments!

It probably depends on your particular body. Like clairelaine, I've noticed that as I drop weight (I also drop in spurts) I go through a sort of cycle of squishiness, especially on my belly. Go figure - the human body can be so bizarre!
I lost 13 lbs, and for about two months I was concerned because my upper arms looked sort of - flappy. Loose. But I've increased my weight lifting and just today I noticed how much tighter and leaner my arms look. It's all about patience. :)
