102 WEIRD things that MAY POSSIBLY help a diet be a success FOR SOME

Quote  |  Reply

anyone care to add some of their weird things:

#1     Start the diet with a FULL refrigerator

&nb sp;              (whenever my fridge is empty I panic and eat whatever I can find)

#2     Start a diet only after all of your laundry is washed

&nb sp;              (My number 1 excuse for not working out is "no clothes")

#26 Take a look at your kids (if you have 'em - imagine your future kids if you don't) and ask yourself "Do I want to set an example for them?" and "Do I want to be able to meet my grandchildren someday?"  - big one for me, tipped the scale so to speak.

#27 - Get a pedometer (step counter) and wear it everywhere.  Write down how many steps you did today, then set a slightly higher goal for the next day.  At the end of the month, calculate how far you have walked and set a higher goal for the next month.

#28 - Break up your end goal into several smaller 'mini goals' with rewards.  If you want to lose 50 pounds, set a goal for when you lose 10, 20, 30, 40 pounds.  Make the rewards something fun and non-food related!  Some of my faves were pedicures, new work out clothes, hair professionally colored, etc.

#29 - When you have a bad day (poor food choices, no exercise) get over it!  Its one day, move on and realize tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it.  You are in this for the long haul, so dont let a slip up cost you your goal

#30- fill up a HUGE water bottle in the morning with ice cold water mixed with a few tbsp of either lemon juice (my fave) or another fruit juice.  keep it by your side all day and make it your goal to drink it up!  repeat a couple times a day (i hate the taste of plain water but love it mixed with a little lemon juice)

#31- separate all your food into smaller portions the minute you get home for shopping. Then you won't be to tempted for seconds.

#32 - Learn what your challenges are and write them down.

#33 - Don't wait for anybody else.  And keep going when your workout/dieting buddy stops.

#34 - Get comfortable - losing weight takes awhile.

#35 - Plan ahead whenever you can.

#36 - Never tell yourself anything mean or discouraging.  Believe in yourself.

Hey ppl lets reinject the weirdness, these are getting just plain MOTIVATIONAL! LOL

#37 schedule some time to just sit and decompression, so that when you are feeling burnt out you can have a definite END point to your work, and not just switch off altogether!

#38 Just eat a little of what you crave, to kill the craving

#39 GET TIVO! Record all your favorite shows and don't watch them live. This way, when you finally watch it, skip through the commercials. Less time in front of TV = less time to snack and more time left to spend exercising!

#40 Subscribe to a fitness magazine. Leave the magazines lying around the house for motivation to look like the cover model :-P.

#41 If you HAVE to HAVE to HAVE to stock a snack (ice cream, chocolate, etc.), buy the most expensive kind! This way you will think twice about eating the whole thing in one sitting because of what it costs!

#42. Avoid the scale like the PLAGUE!! I weigh myself once every 2-3 weeks, that way, I see a few more pounds lost, and it makes me happier, so it motivates me more. I know that as long as I am making healthy choices, I shouldn't need to weigh myself daily.
