Weird weight loss effect.... Am I alone?

Quote  |  Reply

I've lost a bit over 20Lbs in the past 10 weeks, and I am really happy about that, but it's so odd -- I noticed that a new pair of pants was hanging unevenly on me, and I figured the lags just weren't hemmed correctly.

But lately every pair of pants hangs almost a while inch lower on my left than on my right.  That is not how my pants have always fit, so I think I'm losing more on my left side than on my right.

It's a bit shocking to look in the mirror and see this effect.  And it's not like I'm exercising only one side of my body.....

Has this happened to any of you?  Did it take a long time to even out?

Hi Pattikins,

Not sure if I can really picture what you've described, but how about just measuring yourself -- to really see if you're well....lop-sided?  Check it out and let us know.
That sounds a little dramatic ...

However i am aware that everyone is uneven all over. Our faces arent symetrical (try the mirror on a photo trick it makes you look weird) and most women have a odd boobs (smaller on your rightside if you are righthanded and vice versa).

I had never thought about fat being uneven but when i asked my best friend if my bum and hips where huge whilst posing in front of her in just my knickers she kindly pointed out that i had one fatter love handle! So not only did i then have to worry about being fat i had to worry about being lopsided!

Half, I'm not sure I could actually measure this...

Chelsea, that's what I'm talking about, but I don't think I've been uneven before, (at least not noticeably), that's why I was so surprised!

that's so funny! i have the same problem- for me, it's because my hips are uneven (one dislocates regularly, and it's a pain in the butt). so one side of my waist is more inverted than the other. sucks, huh.

good thing is, i don't think most people really notice it. those types of things are most glaringly obvious to the person herself, not to others.

Actually I have noticed a similar thing on me.  My moobs and belly were not symmetrical after losing a good bit of weight.  As I lose more it appears to not be as noticeable.
It's okay. Don't become discouraged it will become less noticeable as you continue to press forward. Just congratulate yourself on the weight loss and stay focused on what a great job you've done thus far. =-P
You may have one leg that is longer than the other and it is curable.
I used to get messages all of the time.  The second one that I got the girl noticed that my hips were out of line and one leg was out by a whole inch.  She munipilated back to where it was suppose to be.  What a difference.  Before when I would stand still, I would stand on one leg.  After I had no problems standing still on both feet.

Thanks for the responses everyone!

I guess it will take care of itself.

I would have thought of the uneven leg/hip except this has never been an issue for me before, so I really think it's the weight loss.  If it doesn't resolve after a couple more months, I'll ask my doctor when I'm in for a checkup.
