Would it be weird to ask out my yoga instructor?

Hi guys!

Funny question, but I have a bit of a crush on this guy that teaches one of the yoga classes that I go to.  I have no idea if he's in a relationship although a wedding ring is conspicuously missing.  haha, I also have no idea if he likes me too although he does seem to do a lot more body realignments and partner postures with me than with any of the other people taking the class, but maybe that's because I'm pretty flexible and he can bend me into some pretty intense poses...

I've never asked out a guy and tend to wait to be asked myself, so I'm pretty hesitant.  I'm also wondering if this 'crush' is just me being hopped up on endorphins after some really good yoga...

I know that this is super random, but I was just kind of wondering what other people's thoughts were...

Start with something easy -  like 'Hey are you free after class at all, I'd love to grab a drink and chat to you about the Yoga class'.

That way you can start up a conversation and find out more about it.   Ask him where he took the course to teach... blah blah and then work into converstation what he's doing on the weekend or for summer holdiays and wait for clues on if he's single.  If it goes well... take it from there.

This way if he says 'Yea my fiance and I are..........'  You can continue with the classes and not feel silly having asked him right out.

slip a note in his bag after class that says

Will u go out with me?   Yes [ ]   No [ ]

Or I guess canucks way would work too... but its more boring.

Well if we are going the NON boring way - next time he bends you into a postion tell him you are much more flexible with your clothes off :p

grawwwr! I support cunucks revised approach!!

Haha I like canuckabroad's second suggestion!!!

But seriously, what if he says no or I already have a girlfriend? Would it make things awkward in class? Would you continue to go to class? I think canuckabroad's first suggestion is smart - that way you're not asking straight out, and you can kind of scope him out.

Thanks for all your responses guys! I think that I might definitely try canuckabroad's suggestion (and not just because I'm also Canadian! :)) I really really love this class and I would hate anything to be awkward so I think that I'll just try to ease into it...

Yeah, if your concerned he may already be married or dating, the conversation approach is good.  Get to know him a bit first.  The only time I really remove my wedding ring is in the gym to prevent it from being scratched up from the barbells or digging into my finger when I'm trying to get a good grip on something (pull-up bar, dumbbell, etc).   Not sure about yoga, but if there's a chance for a ring to get caught on something, scratched up or interfere with the exercise, he may remove it.

Also, if he's single, I can't see why there would be a problem with you asking him out.  You're cute.  Laughing

YES but make him think about it...about you without you're clothes on.  Let his mind race.

How about, "these clothes are so restricting".  Um, if I was the instructor....boing!!!!!!!!!  "Break time girls".  There's no way he's going to be able to hide it in his little yoga pants!
